  1. Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply @scargsy. I got a reply from Ammo Mig saying: The problem is that Lucky coatings are developed for finished. The correct varnish for working with decals or Weathering products is Aqua Gloss (A.MIG-8212). This is much more resistant and will resist the most aggressive products such as decals or enamels.

    Hello!

What a welcome, thanks everyone! @MRMRL we do sound like we've had a similar modelling journey. My personal aspirational models when I was young were the Tamiya AFVs which I had no chance of getting. @Valleyforge tea breaks are essential!

    Hello!

Just had a look at Hannants, it's very helpful. Cheers for that.

  5. Hi, Wondered if anyone could give me any tips on where I am going wrong please? I am new to modelling so this is likely user error but on two occasions i have glossed my model with the Ammo Mig lucky gloss varnish, left it a day and then put the decals on. On both occasions the varnish has kind of rubbed off/worn away in some places whilst doing this. I am also using Ammo Mig decal set and fix but it's generally happened at the "set" stage. With the first model it also affected the paint, on the second I made sure the layers were thicker so it seems to have just impacted the gloss coat. I did see one small piece of gloss peel back too. Example image attached, any ideas where I might be going wrong please? Cheers

    Hello!

Hi all, just dropped in to introduce myself. Like many I was a modeller (a bad one) in my youth and have just come back to the hobby. The modern production standards are crazy compared to what I saw in the 90s. So far I have done a Challenger 2 from Tamiya which was a delight to put together and now nearing completion of a Tamiya mk1 Spitfire. Next up is the HK Lancaster in 1/48. This is perhaps a little ambitious for my third build back but nothing ventured, nothing gained! Please anyone suggest any aftermarket metal guns for this one as I can't seem to find any? The forum looks great and I look forward to seeing some of you at my first model fair at the Tank Museum in the UK a little later on this year too. Take care, happy modelling. Cheers
