  1. I've made the Heller Jag as well as the Airfix one.Thing about the KH one is,apart from the Sidewinders,PHIMAT pod,Drops & BL755 ,none of the other stores in the kit on the Jag (SNEBS's were used by the RAF but not on Jags) are used by the RAF, Also I gather the twin bomb adaptor is wrong for the RAF one & I'm assuming the seat in the kit will be the Frenchy one,so in order to make a Granby cat, you'll either have to dog rob the spares box or go Aftermarket.Much the same for the Heller one tbh,no Granby decals in that nor options for the RAF in the one I made, just French mounts.
  2. Very nice indeed...now you just have to find somewhere to put it...lol
  3. No,it's current status would be listed as a GR9 but in the modification/history notes in the F700 for example, it would be noted something like "Harrier XX123 modified to GR9 on the 01/01/2000,"...It's complicated to explain. Any modification work done to an item,be it a rifle,a weapon or a jet is recorded in the maintainance records for that item.
  4. Got a couple Armourer mates on 12 & they haven't heard anything apart from they're binned when they get back from Afghan...........
  5. Yep,I ripped the hydraulic brake line off a Tonka mainwheel trying to get a 1000lb'er lined up with the TSC,Thankfully it was the WTC's training jet & not an ops one...
  6. Bear in mind that the 'Y' loader only had a SWW of 1200lb iirc & was only used on certain aircraft.
  7. It was a NATO weapons set & contained a lot of Brit weapons,a lot of which would'nt be suitable for the Tornado GR4 or Typhoon, must be a good 16-20 years ago it came out... Best bet would be to try & get some Airfix Tornado GR4's from E-Bay...
  8. I might have,gimme a while & I'll look, (due to go down for a chest x-ray in a bit)
  9. Not used on Telic, they only came in a few months before The Leaping Heap left Afghanistan.
  10. Tornado ones are just a simple plastic covered canvas sheet.I just took some foil that you get at the top of coffee jars, cut it into a rectangle larger than the intake, glued it along the top leading edge of the intake ,shaped it,glued the sides in place then cut to shape with a sharp blade.the two bungees holding it in place I represented with cotton thread, gluueing the ends under the cover before the cover was fitted. The bungee underneath is a vee shape, with the bottom of the vee in front of the main gear, What I did was before attatching the intake,I dilled a small hole, doubled the thread over & poked the doubled end thru the hole then tied a not, then glued the other ends to the intake lip.
  11. Normally an LAU for the Sidewinder fitted to the outrigger hardpoint,1000lb LGB's on the inner pylons & 550lb or 1000lb dumb bombs on the outer pylons as well as Maverick missiles. CRV7 rocket pods were used in Afghanistan as well as SNEB rocket pods back home.BL-755 CBU's were used alongside US CBU's until they were banned.Paveway4's only came in with the GR9 IIRC Bear in mind that the bombs we use are totally different than those used by the US. Not a great expert on the Leaping Heap myself, spent my time bombing up the Flying Flick Knife (Tornado) American slang for "weapons carried",certainly not a British term.
  12. Nice gray/green jag, apart from the French LGB's,which we've never used,& the SNEB pods, that iirc were also not carried by the jag. Merv Oh,and the AIM 9L's should be l/gray.....
  13. Looking good Calum,re the GBU & Winder, the's a removable collar fitted behind the seeker head while the bomb is on the ground to stop it moving,so you's only see the droopy prior to take off,& the should be a hole thru the collar on the noddy cap for the RBF tag,and they are much dirtier in real life.
  14. Sorry,I meant AV8B can be modified to a GR5...I was getting pumped full of meds at the time, that's my excuse for the brain fart so there...
  15. Monogram also make an 1/48 AV8B which can be modified into a GR3,at the time it was THE only 1/48 scale kit.Nice kit with the only drawback being the seat pan is moulded into the cockpit tub.
  16. Now called DCAE Cosford (Defence College of Aeronautical Engineering)....Still trained on Sea Vixens,Buccs,Hunters & Lightnings as well as Jet Provosts & Gnats for the CFST airfield phase when I went thru there in 1984.
  17. Possibly, It was shown on a tv program like Time Team or something, that the gun/mounting was recovered from the wreckage of the aircraft where it crashed during the raid,so part/all of it was recovered.
  18. When is a laser guided bomb not a laser guided bomb?.... When it's an Air Data Gathering Bomb.. 2 x 1000lb data gathering bombs (along with a ride-along PWII 'pylon filler') in PWII role flying Typhoon environmental trails. Note the bolt-on nose cones. Engineered by Portsmouth Aviation Ltd, instrumented by Cranfeild Aerospace. (With thanks to my very old mate Jez B for the pics...)
  19. Tornado's based in Germany had all the stencills in both English & German as well as carried 4 ejection seat triangles per side,2 for the IIF & 2 for the ballast.Aslo the stencils on the weapon pylons will be different as we used different release equipment for the bombs.weapons wise, the GR1 & GR4's used by the RAF & RSAF are completelt different aircraft to the IDS. Spike (Tornado Armourer)
  20. Very nice, dont forget the was one of the Lancs on the raid that had a downward firing machine gun just aft of the wings,in a sort of small ball turret.Cant remember which one, just remember seeing it on a documentary.
  21. Just hope they get the BOZ & Skyshadow pod right, maybe throw in a TARDIS rear pit & a THERMA pod along with some Brimstones .....
  22. Well compared to other kit makers,Revell DE didn't really haave too far to go to look at the real thing now did they, considering the was X amount of German Tornado Squadrons & up to 8 RAF squadrons in their home country alone,so they wou;dn't haave been short of material to refer too...
  23. Used to use Photobucket until it started to crash my browser,Try Add Block Plus,. Thanks Andy,I used a cut down drop tank.
  24. As some of you know I abandoned modelling a few months ago,I have been trying to get back into it over recent months & this is the result so far...
  25. Looking at the picture of the SLR,the front stock is more like the old wooden ones than the plastic, the latter being less rounded.
