  1. Mate, If it's 1/72 scale,pm me your adress,I may have a couple gasg ones from the old Airfix weapons set as I don't do that scale anymore.. Merv
  2. If you want a patch for the diorama, one of the lads had these made up for the gulf scrap & you can still get them., http://www.terrane.co.uk/.OP-GRANBY-BYE-BYE-SADDAM_EB847.htm
  3. Don't sweat it mate.Don't forget that Selwyn & I have about 60 years in the armament trade between us,us being crotchety old farts that we are...
  4. Cannot ever recall BRU's,always called them ERU's or HDERY/SWEDR/LDERU on Tonkas...
  5. No drama's.we#ve had them since the 70's,because our bombs are slightly larger, the is (iirc) a mating adaptor used to fit the tail unit, you can see the difference in the bottom picture I posted. Only American weapons I can recall we've ever used aside from missiles like Sidewinder ect,was SHRIKE on the Vulcans & GBU's on the Harrier & Tornado (although we never got to drop the latter on DS)
  6. Incorrect, the Paveway bombs we use are different in that we mate the guidance & tail unit to a standard British 450Kg bomb so none of the bombs in the Hasagawa weapons set are suitable for any RAF aircraft, aside from the Paveway IV which you'd have to modify & only came into service about 2009 in Afghan, Photo coutesy of my good mate Pete (Bombed)
  7. Very nice work Glenn indeed, only point is BOZ & Skyshadow are on the wrong pylons.
  8. IIRC the one I had had a canopy that was so smoked it was black!
  9. I've some photo's of the Mauser gun bay somewhere.....
  10. Not strictly thru Bill.you'd only see some holes in the cartridge pack where flares have been expended. The flare pack slots over the 2 rods you see in the empty pick & is screwed in place with anodized bolts iirc to when I worked on them.
  11. Well,a mate was told March 31st 2014,they stand down with Tonka & start up on the Tiff the next day....
  12. As far as I've heard the's nothing on the cards for 12 as yet.
  13. I see the Kodak Kids are going Typhoon.... https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-typhoon-squadron-announced
  14. To contain any low order (high explosive) detonation,as well as Radioactive spillage & also because of lightning risk. (All laid down in Explosive Regulations for SSA) It's a brill model but we never had any revetments like that at Bruggen, you may find a revetment on one side where you'd find things like POL & ERU carts stored, and on the other side you'd find a HAS Hard as we called it. Taken from our Squadron page; Looking down towards the QRA HAS's....
  15. Ah but contraire....British Waste of Space would have to get a few million quid & years over budget with them first, installing old obsolete kit or stuff that does'nt even work......
  16. Two Mikes Resin used to make them as did Relish Resins, although they are now as rare as rocking horse doo-doo.... http://www.relishmodels.co.uk/relish-resins-1-48-tornado-gr4-gr4a-flir-and-irls-pods.html
  17. Sorry.that's sort of what I was getting at,although being fussed over by the nurses injecting me with gowd knows what was distracting...Chemo-3 weeks done!
  18. Yes & no....the only ones you can use on Tornado is the Enhanced Paveway II but ONLY after 2001,when it entered service,EPWIII entered service in 2002 & a British made Paveway IV only recently came into service with the Tornado in Afghanistan, http://www.raf.mod.uk/equipment/enhancedpaveway.cfm Other than that,the rest of them are useless as the main bomb we use is totally different than those used by the US & most other countries.IIRC it's larger & a mating collar is used to enable the tail unit to fit & the is a cover/adaptor for the nose fuze unit http://www.pixstel.com/paveway-iv-on-a-tornado_pics79-7928.jpg Non enhanced 1000lb LGB;
  19. I bought an 1/48 EF-111 a few years ago,it was a rip off of the old Academy F-111 that was made in the early 90's.Plastic was soft & brittle as well as hard to glue together, parts were warped & where the cockpit pod joined the fuslage, the's a 1mm deep step between the 2 parts, canopy was distorted & undersize, decals were, iirc, self adhesive & really badly printed. It's sort of completed to an extent in the attic when I gave up on it after glueing something on for the 42nd time....
  20. Basically the RAF/RSAF don't use the IDS,it's a different aircraft than the GR1 & 4 insofar as the weapon system is different & the jets are nuclear capable, whereas the IDS isn't iirc. The fin tank was removed from the RAF version when it was upgraded to GR4,but the RSAF still retains them.We used to have to load the weapons in a certain order, more so when we used TSC's, as well as even when the wings were forward the was a danger of it sitting down.
  21. Yes,its a valid load but without the Sidewinders/ASRAAM on the inner stub pylon,as the role would be SEAD & thus they wouldn't be needed,so it'd be 4 ALARM fit with possibly a smaller drop tank on the shoulder pylon. Merv (RAF Tornado Armourer)
  22. Yes,at Bruggen it was rare for a jet to be parked with the flaps n slats out,in fact if a crew were found to have parked the jet like that, they got slabbed (Fined a case of beer) for the end of month beer call.
  23. Looks good, correct shape BOZ & Skyshadow pod, can't see the MACE fairings for the shoulder pylons tho but they'll probable be seperate like in their other scale boxings...
  24. AIM 9L's were used on the GR1,Loaded quite a few of them in my time, don't think the M varients were ever used on the Flying Flick Knife tho...Could be wrong, old age & all that....
  25. will be getting a couple of these myself. One picky note that was pointed out to me by a fellow RAF Armourer,is the abbreviation for Brawdy is 'BWY' & not 'BRDY'
