  1. Tri-Star's were also called Tommies depending if they had air to air refueling facility, the was also s third nickname that I cant remember....
  2. Yup, Just confirmed by a mate,ALARM's been withdrawn from service.
  3. Not likely,we don't have many of them servicable after Libya according to a couple of serving plumb mates.
  4. Can't say,I never worked on them.....
  5. Chinooks were always called Wokka Wokkas,Tornado's The Flying Flick Knife & the Harrier was known as (to us) The Leaping Heap....
  6. You too huh,.....Funny how it stained the white plastic jerry can it came in red but it never stopped us drinking it....AND it tasted better on the way back up than when you drank it!
  7. IIRC it's very basic like the Italeri or Airfix one, especially in the cockpit area.
  8. As well as the gear bays, the only parts that are white are the speed brake insides.
  9. A very light gray, never saw any white ones in all the years I was on them.
  10. Airwaves do a cockpit detail set for the Airfix kit, around a fiver from Hannants http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/AEC48047 They also do one for the Italeri kit...
  11. And that is NOT an AIM 9L,,,.....Nice work on the kit too!
  12. Even worse when removing the drops with the Hearnia Bars & the bloke on the pins checks the drop, tells you the drops empty when if friggin is'nt!
  13. I've always wanted a large scale Intruder,it's been my fave US Navy jet since I got hooked on the Jake Grafton novels ny Stephen Coonts. As you may know,I'm undergoing Chemo at present & currently out of hospital,so I bought this kit to take in with me for the next round to beat the boredom. Anyway, our electric went off today so to kill some time,I started the kit,Gave the cockpit a base coat as well as all the white bits.Photo's to follow tommorow once these bits are a bit further along. Merv
  14. I combined the cockpit & gear bays from an old Italeria kit with an Aifix kit & got a very nice looking GR4. As for the wing seal bags, easiest way to do it is to dry fit it with the wing & mark where the trailing edge of the wing is on the kit part, then glue a strip of plastic card to the back, fill the front face with filler & then carve to shape. SIMPLES!
  15. Hope the crews are OK http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-25753740
  16. They did in the first release of the kit as I've still got one of them in the crash box,I'm talking mid 80's vintage here.
  17. Was a bit before Granby...... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Ariel
  18. Bobski, the colors & markings that a weapon is painted is laid down somewhere in a massive set of books known as Explosive Regulations,a lot of the weapon parts like the LGB guidance kits,Torpedos & missiles cannot be touched up in the unit ESA & have to be returned to the depot for that to be done. Ex Regs is bloody complicated & it's the part of the RAF weapons course that is failed the most, probably because it's the part of the course that's the most boreing!lol.
  19. Same here mate!Ended up having to cut the cockpit sideconsoles down & they still didn't fit!
  20. Thanks for the review, just got the kit off E-Bay for a tenner post free!... ....
