  1. Good news Clive,

    Here is my friend's reply:

He says this software is safe, as in the worst thing that can happen is that it will not work. It will not make the problem worse.

    Hope this solves your problem.

    Cheers, and good luck,

    Anthony Wan

PS. read all of the instructions carefully, and follow all steps closely.

Same happened to me, i used the same program but the problem is it'll scan the drive & recover around 80% fully but some files & folders may be currupt. Also the demo will only recover the files, you need to buy a liceneced copy to restore them & you'll need to recover them onto a seperate disc drive.

I may still have my licenced copy.I'll check later.

  2. Why use Litening on The Fin and Sniper on the Harrier (and Tiffy?)? Makes no bloody sense!

That would be the same as NOT using the 27mm Mauser from the Tornado on the Harrier but developing a whole new 25mm gun for it that goes tits-up later(wait a sec... <_< )

    :viking:

Having worked on the 27mm Mauser fitted to the Tornado I doubt that it would be possible to adapt for use on the Harrier or Typhoon without a radical re-design.To load it you had to attach a strap to the first link in the ammo tank, feed that thru the rotating breech & manually cock & 'fire' the first 2 dummy rounds to line up the first live round in the firing mechanism.Easy to do on the Port gun but the Starbord one was a 100% biatch to load!!! We often ended up with shredded hands after a load! :angrysoapbox.sml:

  3. Well kind of a dio, the idea was to have a WE177 hanging in its 'chute a bit behind the kit. But if there was only one loaded, I might just have that one hanging from the pylon. Or say 'feck it' and still do it with two nukes, in dropped and one on the pylon.

Do you have any idea what the 'chute looked like? Even if just the color of it.

Interesting (and kinda scary) to hear about the procedures you had!

    :viking:

Never actually seen the parachute but I gather it was white. If you are doing one being dropped, you'll need to modify the bomb.Where the warning triangles are on the bomb, the are small 'probes' like the Angle-of-attack probes on jets. These are inside the bomb but push thru the bomb skin on dropping.About 6 inch long.

  4. Thanks again Spike, you're a goldmine :jump_fire:

Just to make sure, am I correct in saying that the grey/green wrap scheme is BS381C/638 Dark Sea Grey and BS381C/641 Dark Green?

And if I am, can anyone explain why the devil Xtracrylix don't have BS381C/641 in their lineup? Has it gotten a BS4800 number?

    :viking:

    Na Probs.

If your doing a Diorama we Plumbers worked on a 2 man rule when loading them.I had to know what my Sargent's job & he mine so we could spot sabotage. In a war situation if a member of my load them was trying to sabotage a load up,we would shoot him! (On excercises the marshals often got one of us to play a saboteaur to test us!

Also the was a red outline around the jet (look at the picture I posted in my stickie Tornado thread & you'll see) where again if someone crossed the line we could shoot them!Quite scary the level of paranoia the was back in the 80's in RAFG!

  5. There's so many things I'm gonna get sent to hell for, they'll probably make part of managment when I get there :analintruder:

Ok, so it gets the probe. Looks better anyway, for some weird reason.

Mine's gonna be a WE177C (disclaimer, some references name the tactical version as C, some say the C is the one the RN had to , among other things, knock subs outta the water).

So they only loaded one, huh? Guess it makes my job easier then :D Did they still have the outboard body (shoulder?) pylons attached?

Would AIM-9Ls have been carried then, or would it still have been D/Gs?

Thanks muchly for all the help so far everybody, bloody fast too!

    :viking:

Actually,Thinking back on it we mostly loaded on the Port shoulder pylon but both shoulder pylons had HD ERU's fitted & the SWAC-3 (Special Weapon Armament Control) panel in both cockpits, all switches were sealed with copper wire & crimped tags, removed by the Aircrew just before release) were for both pylons. The center pylon was NOT fitted prior to 1991.

We also loaded both types as well & the HAS which contained a Training Jet (out of flying hours,no engines ect) belonging to the WTC (Weapon Training Cell) had both types for practicing with)

A full load, ammo for the cannon & AIM-9's would be carried as we bl*ddy well loaded them as well on excersises!

  6. I'm looking for a bit of info on RAF nuclear weapons, specifically the WE177. Spike has kindly helped me in the past, but unfortunately most of the info I got from him has been lost.

So, can anyone give me the dimensions of the WE177 bomb?

Also, I've heard/read that the RAFG Tornados didn't have the refuelling-probe attached, would that be correct for a 14th sqd Tornado, RAF Brüggen, say '85-ish? (sorry Spike, but 17 sqd don't have the roundel on the intake - yes, that's the reason it'll be 14 sqd)

    Thanks in advance

    :viking:

Ooohhhh...14 Sqn....You'll go straight to hell for that one!!!

Most of the Tornado's when I was there at Bruggen did have IFR probes fitted. it was rare to find one without.14 Sqn started re-equipping with the Tornado in 85 which was a couple of years before my time there so they may not have had IFR's fitted then but certainly 90% were when I was there, especially for going back to the UK for low level training & deployment's to Goose,Deci & Nellis.

We used 2 types of WE177 bombs. Both types were fitted on the centerline hard point & the red edges of the fins & nosecap are removed before flight.

    The bomb here;

    WE177

is from a Tornado.(I can tell that from the bomb lugs.

  7. More of an observation than a complaint....

The RAID Pod is very easy, it's simply a white painted tube with a pointy end the only drawback is I haven't been able to confirm its dimensions, the CBLS pod is a slightly more complicated proposition, perhaps you'd have to form it using something like Miliput then cast it in resin....

Not really,I make my CeeBlies from a old 1000Lb (One of the shorter ones you used to get with Airfix kits.

    Oh & Daz;

    It'snot called a BL**DY TONKA!!!!

    I'll calm down now!

  8. I've already got one the Telic decal sheet from model alliance for a future GR4 (Far away futur!!!)

Just have to find how to build a GR4 from a GR1!!!

Nevertheless, for I have found the Hi decal sheet, which will fit very well for a Revell 1/72 GR1.

    ;)

Have a look in the reference section stickies.

I have a shedload of Tornado detail photo's in there including nose art.

    You'll find it useful.

    Merv

  9. I agree with Skii here.As someone who has built around 6 of these, all it needs is a coat of light grey,a wash & some dry brushing.Your wasting your time & money on aftermarket stuff here. The kit is basically a scaled down version of the 1/32 one.The only thing I'd get aftermarked is a set of dropped flaps & slats.

    Regards,

    Merv

  10. TIALD was rushed into service for Op Granby in 1991.Rumour was it was made in a old biscuit factory in Edingburgh. We only had two at the time, each one named after one of the Fat Slags from the Viz adult comic.

Below are two photos, the first is of a modern TIALD pod & the second is of one of the Gulf ones.

  11. Just started a 48th Harrier & wondering which 'pods' they currently carry e.g. TIALD or other?

Can a F15 targeting pod be used?

    Dave

Just TIALD at the moment operationally but as mentioned, the sniper pod is being trialled in Afghanistan I believe.

  12. Noooo!!! Beer disagrees with me. About 2 pints in I get my hangover :weep:

Normally it's Jim Beam for me, but after last night I can add Magners Cider to my list of preferred beverages with minimal hangover consequences

How about a big Ulster Fry then? :analintruder:
