The only one that's left is RAF Bruggen, now Javelin Barracks.Unlike the rest it's 100% intact & is used as a airbridge at times.I gather the is a small RAF contingent there manning the ATC but that's about it.
It is a sunshine bomb,Mk43 I believe & they were also carried by RAF Nimrods up until around mid 90's.
Ahh the memories of convoy duties & load outs....
Sorry,Checked last night & I'm afraid I dont have a spare.Got to thinking, could you scratch build one from a 1/72 Hindenberger tank? They scale compare about the same size & shape.
Very nice job made especially brilliant by the choice of the best squadron in the RAF!
I'm doing mine with a black fin & spine like the display jets from the 90's.....
Mmmmmmm.....Wonder what a all black jet would come out like??
(And before you sarcastic, pedantic buggers say "all black"...
Cheers Karl, started it last night &,funnily enough, one of the wings is a bit 'off' as well as the is a inward "V" sort of lgap on the horizontal stabs, some filler there!
Other than that,it looks like it's going to ba a nice build.
Merv
Thanks for this Karl,
Bought one at the airshow the other day to go along with the so-far unbuilt Wyvern (again a Trumpeter kit)
Anything I should look out for on the build?
Merv
Nice job Niel,
Just one small critique.I've never seen RBF tags like those on any ejection seat I've came accross.Seat pins are removed by the pilot & are stowed in a witness board in the cockpit. If my memory is correct, the one for the hunter is on the right side of the cockpit on the sidewall. That way the pilot & lineys can see if they are all fitted or not.You may find them like that on a training seat, but not on a operational jet.

Just got back from the annual local airshos, got some pics to upload later.Best bits were the 2 Harriers on static,The Huey chopper who,it turns out,is flown by a workmate's friend from when both of them were in the RAF together!Got some good pics of that.Sadly I did'nt get many of the Eurofighter Typhoon.Moving too f****** fast for my Digi Camera to keep up!
I'll bung the photo's up later.
Exactamundo!
That's why 17 were the first, you always give the best to the best....
809???..Who were they anyway? Was'nt that the telephone extension number for the dog section??
Awww...Why are you spoiling the kit & doing a 61spare kite?
Do something with class, panache & balls like a 17f Sqn Tornado GR1 from THE BEST Tornado SQN BAR none!
Number one is a cooling vent or intake if my memory's correct.,The is another one just behind the Navigators right shoulder next to the intake trunk, they pop open when ground power is applied.
Apart from tht,VolvoWills correct on everything else.
Point of interest about Skii's pic is the funny shaped red 'square' by the stab is a cover for the APU exhaust. The RAF dont use them.I cut that out & back it with plastic card, paint gunmetal & drybrush black.
Surely that would defeat the purpose of the TIALD pod? I think it's more to do with marking the target on the bomb run for dumb bombs although you would'nt use it when toss bombing
