Way,way back when Biggles was still at school & muggins was on his Wep's course at RAF Cosford,we done all our training on Hunters,Lightnings & Bucc's. (RDX'll remember those days with fondness too...) & the Hunters we trained on the flaps were always up.

Maybe I'm biased as a Tornado plumber but I agree. With all the new ' high scale' kits like the F17,18ect it's about time Revell or someone make a accurate Tornado kit,be it GR4 or F3.Or Revell please re-release the RAF Tornado with a GR4 update.

Graham, You can make a relativly good model from what you get IF your prepared to put in a lot of man hours with it.I gave up & went down the pub.Now (and dont take this the wrong way here) as you've just recently started modeling (and made some good kits so far I might add!) I think that with all the bad point's of this kit,i'd put it away until you have more experience & time to build.Certainly a after market pit is needed anyway. Merv

Eight quid......!!!!!They seen ya coming mate!! Ok,well here we go..... Cons... 1-Top half of fusalage is raised panel lines, bottom half is recessed 2-Bad fit of all (and I MEAN ALL!) especially top & bottom fusalage halves & intake trunking. 3-Cockpit.. to call it basic is a understatment!! 4-Canopy too short & windscreen too long (by about 2 scale foot!) 5-Wheel wells- about 5 mil deep. 6-Landing gear so thin & spindly it's bad. 7-Airbrakes too long. Pros... 1-Good decals 2-ALARM missiles Er...That's about it. To make this kit you'll require; Paints Glue Filler (Lots of filler) Patience (Lots of patience) Alcahol (Lots of alcahol,I prefer Whiskey) Dustbin. Hope this helped, Merv

Never looked blueish to me when I worked on the Squadron's jets.

It's a very light grey gloss, almost a Barley Grey on the GR1-4.Dunno about the F3 but it'b probably be the same. Merv

Cheers chaps, Has anyone ever used the DJ Parkins? Are they reliable? Daz,Tonka is a pet hate of mine you might say. When I was in the RAF,I never ONCE heard the Tornado referred to as 'Tonka',The 'Fin' a few times but never 'Tonka'.Mind you,we mostly referred to a jet by the tail code. Merv

Right chaps, As I cannot get hold of the 1/32nd Revell Tornado GR1 anymore,I'm going to get the Revell Tigermeet 2001/2002. And I'm also going to invest in this; Flight path set Just been on the DJ Parkins site & can get the set for £44 instead of Hannants £50!! I've seen the list on the packet in the photo but how comprehensive is the contents? Are the electronic bay's included? And I'm looking at doing a 31Sqn Goldstars anniversary colours so does any peeps know who makes a set? Cheers lads, Merv

Cant see no photo so I'm guessing it's the JP233... I have loaded the JP hundreds of times while working on Tornado's. RDXTNT's correct. We used a hovercraft type loader which was alway's going tit's up & was a pain in the arrse to use!You had to load the two front parts first & then the back parts.Because of the size of it,the was'nt much room to move under the jet. Out of all the weapon's I've loaded on the Tornado, the JP took the longest time! Even Strike loads (Nukes to the civvies) did'nt take the as long! Back before Granby before I went to the sandpit,we got a order to box up every single JP at Bruggen to go to the Gulf. After spending over a week doing this.( And all the station plumbers were involved in this!) the MoD decided we did'nt need them after all,so unpack them we did & put them back in the storage sheds! Below is us loading the JP on Granby.

Very, very rarely will you see a RBF tag on a seat. All ejection seat pins don't have long flowing tags on them as they are stowed in the cockpit in a sort of peg board. Each pin is named with it's use (ie-seat pan, face screen, drouge gun ect) & fit's into it's own hole. You will also see RBF gags fitted to the ERU's on all weapon pylons as well as the weapons themselves. Below is a pic of a seat,The long flowing 'remove to arm' tag you would'nt see on a operational seat. You WILL see pins like the one to the right marked "Canopy Jettison" Below is a picture of live LGB's being loaded onto a RAF Harrier is Afghanistan. You can see the RBF flags fitted to the weapons. These are removed by the Armourers before take off. http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g38/spik...GuidedBombs.jpg This is a photo of a LGB fitted to a Tornado GR4.You can see the RBF flag fitted to the ERU. Below is a Tornado F3 on Op Telic. You can see the positioning of other RBF flags under the airframe. Hope these are of some use, Merv

Ant, Here's a shot of a RAF LGB in Afghanistan. You can see a larger type of collare fitted to the seeker head here. Merv

British,The Weapon system is the same as the RAF.The curve you refer to is the fuse. The actual nose bit is the sensor & the is a strip running down to the rear of the bomb where the actual fuse is fitted into the rear fuse pocket.(RAF Bombs have 2 fuse pockets, one in the front which was mainly used for the old Pistol & explosive train which went out of service in 84,Ironically,my weapon course was split into 2.One half done fuses & pistols but we did'nt as the pistols were withdrawn while were were on the course) This fuse was designed to be a all in one fuse. Below is a practice 1000Lb bomb,You can clearly see the screw off fuse pocket blank. You can see the nose fuse I am on about fitted to the two bombs between the BL755's on this S Type trolley as well as the strap running between the nose & the rear detonator fuse. I think this is what they were trying to replicate badly. Regards, Merv

Yup,The Port pylon is'nt wired up for the BOZ pod, same as the Starboard is'nt wired up for the Skyshadow. The reason you see a lot of jets with 2 BOZ pods is the is a shortage of operational pods in theatre compared to the Skyshadow. (Apart from the Saudi's,were the only other nation that uses the Skyshadow) With regards to Ant saying about the dodgy nose of the 1000Lb bomb's, he's not entirely right there. The bombs nose actually represents the fitting of the bomb fuse, which has a cone like cover over the fuse pocket.the is a slight 'step' where the collar meets the bomb which is'nt on the actual kit bomb.I'll see if I have a photo somewhere.
