  1. Not really,The paint is a factory applied colour for the original green colour.Any colours after that have to be a removable finish.Same as the Skyshadow pod.
  2. This might be of help to you, Merv TORNADO STICKY
  3. What he said! Look in the reference section, you'll find I have a sticky there. Merv Tornado Sticky
  4. Dogs ****!!!! Well done that man!! Where's ny cheque book....
  5. Why only THE BEST Tornado Squadron in THE RAF!!! So good it's now a Typhoon Sqn... 17(f) Sqn of course!!!
  6. The Italeri F3 I have is a Gulf War one with Granby decals so it's around 15 years old I think.Must be as I bought it from a hobby store in Belfast that closed over 10 years ago! That much I do remember.
  7. Mike,If (And it's a f'in big IF here!) you pull this cuop off......
  8. That's a 1435Flight Toom from the Falkland Islands. You can just about see the sheep & the FI crest on the nose. And yes,the RAF Tooms did take a beating, especially down south where the are no speed or height restrictions & the's no paint shop plus it was too expensive to fly them back to the UK for a touch up!
  9. The bomb bays on the Nirod are only fully open for loading. of stores & normally theu are open 1/2 way to relieve Hydralic preasure.
  10. I remember before Granby, the GR-1's had a mod done to allow the carraige of the larger tanks.Something to do with the rear of the Hindenburger tanks interfearing with the tail planes when the wings were at full sweep if I remember correctly.
  11. Will do when I get back,Away with TA this weekend. Merv
  12. Does'nt look like wood to me,more like body filler smoothed over with a trowel. We used to use a filler in the mob, came in a 2 part silver block, which dried like that.(used to make the gozzome Penguins out of it down South..)
  13. If you look to the left of the bump between it & the blow in doors you can see a 'stud' sticking up.Almost like a mounting pin to attatch something to.That's what put me in mind of the IFR probe.
  14. I'd say it's the fairing for the In Flight Refueling probe as these were bolt on.Mostly Post Falklands I'd guess.
  15. Hi Dark, Well,as a ex-Tornado plumber here's my two-penneth worth. The cockpit of the ECR is basically the same as that of all the other versions, most of the changes being in the back. The weapon pylons are specific to the German & Italian jets so you cant make a RAF or Saudi jet without modifying them. As for the after market bits..... dj parkins And if you need detail shots, check out my sticky here; Tornado Mostly all RAF GR1 to GR4 & some F3 stuff. As for building it OOB,I made a very good 31Sqn one straight off.The cockpit is fairly accurate, the only thing's that let it down in the seats. One word of caution tho,Make sure you strengthen the undercarraige!!!It's a heavy model & the main mounts are a bit flimsy.Once they break,it's a bugger to set them up again!!!(as I found out to my cost!) Merv
  16. Progress update. Well,I have the engine, wings & drop tanks made up as sub-assemblies.The plastic is soft, thin & bendy.Wing edges where they attatch to the spru often has the tabs raised & running about 5mm onto the actual part, leading to a very delicate pairing with a sharp blade & careful sanding. On dry fitting the wings to the fusalage the is a sort of 'v' shaped dip running the length of the joint. Some filler needed there! Now the panel lines,a mix of sharp raised panels & recessed for speed brakes ect which raises a bit of a dilema. As the plastic is so thin (Thinner that Victoria Beckham! ) & all the filler that will be needed,I'm not too sure about re-scribing them.(Something I have rarely done in the past) & as I'm doing a camoflaged jet,I'm sure it wont matter. Merv
  17. Cheers, Looks like some cuttin 'an a Fillin' is in order. Now I have a spare seat from my Academy FA-18 Hornet so I'm thinking I could use that as a 'chassis' & build on top of that.......
  18. Looks like we have plenty of time to wait.According to the lady who runs my local hobby shop, the Airfix Nimrod has been delayed again until the end of the year!
  19. Thanks again guys. Andrew, gunna toodle over there now. Just started the kit.The are a lot of those circular sink holes, and I mean a lot of them! The cockpit I've painted a silver/green as a Google search showed that.As for the seat, well,it looks a lot like my Lazee-Boy recliner in the living room.I'm not even going to bother with painting the majority of the engine as it's staying inside! The painting guide shows the intake trunking & undercarraige as matt grey but it looks like a very light grey to me. Anyway,Thanks again guys. Regards, Merv Quick question... Anyone know where I can get a 1/32 Martin Baker IV seat????
  20. Thanks guys, Does anyone know of a site where I could get some good reference shots?Looked at the seat & it's a dog! Mind you the two part 'pilot' shaped blob of plastic does tend to give the age of the kit away!Still not bad value for £14.99!!!! The was a few 'newer boxed" ones on the shelf but the RAAF option swung it for me. Cheers, Merv
  21. Hi lads, Just payed a visit to my local models shop & got the above kit.Are the any problems with the kit? I'm looking to do the Swiss recon version. Cheers, Merv
  22. I once heard a story of a WRAF lass who's nick name was '2BA' (The smallest sc*** in the RAF) who was doing a blade inspection up a Vulcans exhaust. It was common to have a safety man in the cockpit when work was done to ensure someone did'nt try to 'start it up' Anyway,2BA was up the exhaust pipe head first when she heard the 'Clackers' go off (the ignitor ring on a jet engine) so she came out the pipe head first, which is not a easy feat, picked up her tools, went back to the line shack.Calmly put all her tools back on the shadow board, got the biggest spanner she could find.Walked into the crewroom where the safety man was having his tea & t*atted him with the spanner then went out to the jet & t*atted the bugger who started up the engine!! Must've been a PMT moment.
