  1. There was no way that Revell would cover every version in one kit, they all look the same until you rivet count. The casual builder won't care about most of the details.

Anyway I've enough stuff stashed to convert the kit to the version/airframe I want to build.

    Shaun.

I've got Dave Parkins conversion kit,it'll be interesting to see if bits fit the Revell one..

  2. Better stock up on aftermarket decals then....

Yes, well to pick just two, it also says the A350 has German, French, Spanish and British versions and the 787 has only a German country version... time will tell, but I think this is the description to go with:

"- Super decal set including illustrated motifs and registrations for the special livery of Fighter-bomber Group 33 in Büchel"

  3. so would a recon gr1a still carry this ordernance or just go for nil under fuselage

You know,I cannot recall ever seeing a GR1a armed with anything other than sidewinders & CBLS panniers but they still woild have carried bombs if called for, because even tho recon was their main role, they were still a bomber aircraft as well as a nuclear strike aircraft,

  4. It's a lot more complicated than that depending in the mark of the seat, for example, the Mk10 seats also have arm restraints that clip onto the crews life vests, you also have straps that connect the crew to the PSP that they sit on as well.

I don't know about you but I often find difficulties when detailing seats to know exactly what the various straps do!

Okay, starting from the premise that we have leg restraints which are normally blue then a 5-point torso harness where the colour varies from cream to a goldeny brown colour depending upon the material and mark of seat and then possibly lift web straps up to the parachute in the head box? Then there also a couple of straps on the side of the pack (behind the shoulders) on the Phantom seat - now is that the parachute pack with only a drogue in the headbox?

I was looking at a photo of the MB6 fitted to the Buccaneer and also the Eduard cockpit set for the Bucc and trying to understand how the Eduard strappery related to the MB photo of the real thing!!

American seats can be a bit simpler if the aircrew wear torso harneses and then clip themselves to the seat with Koch fasteners but MB seats often look like tangle of interconnected bits and bobs - a bit like plate of spagetti!

It would be really useful if you could work out how the straps for a particular seat actualy fitted and then you could make sense of the photos, even MB ones!!

(Thinks: I may have a look on the MB site to see if they have any drawings of the Bucc seats as their drawings are often more clear than photos!!)

  5. Academy, Kinetic & Hobbyboss seem to manage to stuff their boxes with choices of ordnance...

Of which Hobbyboss screwed up big time!

That's very true Jennings but, it's hardly the point. Not everybody wants to or indeed can afford to spend what could be the equivalent to or more than the cost of the kit just to buy ordnance for it. These items SHOULD in my view be part of the basic kit. It may add a few £s/$ to the cost but certainly not as much as buying them separately. That's economics as well.

As for "inappropriate"? Well, I wonder how many modellers actually give a hoot about whether a particular whiz bang is appropriate to a particular version.

I don't put weapons on my RAF jets unless they are from an operational theatre or training sortie as it'd be innacurate

  6. Problem with your argument is the Tornado has carried that many types of weapons over the years, that to provide the complete weapons options for them all would be a kit in itself, bearing in mind that we (RAF) & Saudi use different weapons & carriage systems than other countries.

Looks great but the lack of ordnance is very disappointing.

Now, before you all quote "after market" at me, please remember that not everybody wants to or can afford spend possibly the same amount as the kit again on bits that that should have been in the box to begin with

  7. Surely the left arm & wrist should be cocked, singing "I'm a little teapot"...??

OK guys, as mentioned, I made bit of a bloops with the first bin. So here's my second attampt, a little more refined, if you can make a gashbin refined?

This time I used a 54mm figure to get the height accurate, it's one of the Chota Sahib range of figure..

So, now for a coat of Alclad black primer, then gloss ali, some Maskol and then ground equipment yellow.

  8. Despite all the modern weapons I still think the Tornado looks bad bottom carrying 8 bombs like that.

I bet those AAA sites did not like it!

    Julien

Welll.......the were a few bombs dropped in pairs, nothing wrong with that you say,but they were still attached to the TSC when they hit the desert....

  9. What is wrong with that nose and windscreen?!?!?!

Think it's best to wait until someones got their mitts on it & built it before we start picking holes in something that's not even out yet.The delays might mean they've discovered faults & are rectifying them before release.

  10. Love the "Warning Remove Before Flight" legend. As if the pilot would not notice the cover was on!

I think we all remember some of the crew snags in the 700...

    Pilot;

    "Pilots wander lamp not working"

    Lekkie'

    "Switch lamp to 'on'"

    For example...

  11. 1000lb bombs fitted with slick or retarded tail units, carried in 4's or 8's,when used with a TSC (Twin Store Carrier),BL755 CBU's carried in 4's,Before the Gulf War,the wasn't many jets that had the centerline pylon fitted,so the was only the 2 outer Shoulder pylons in use for ordanance,of which these had 3 weapon stations each, the center of which was used for drop tanks or WE-177 nuclear weapons,as well as JP-233.

Just before the Gulf War started,31 & 9 sqn were equipped with the ALARM missile, however these could,at the time, only be carried in place of the wing drop tanks,so you saw jets with the drops slung underneath, they then wired the shoulder pylons for ALARM as well as fitting an outer station on the inner wing pylons for an additional ALARM launcher.

  12. I think that it was a piece of metal or a block at least that could be fitted into the slot of the wing sweep control lever in the cockpit.

IIRC,the was a rectangle of metal that was simply screwed over the slot for the cockpit sweep lever,
