  1. A stunning piece of work, congratulations! You've set the bar very high!
  2. A superb build; I will use as a point of reference when I attempt my KGV build - if it's halv as good I'll be happy!
  3. Boy do I wish I'd read this a few days ago, before struggling with the decals on the Tamiya Beaufighter and having to go mad on weathering to mask the cracks.
  4. Thanks Sam, useful input about the stripes. I'm going to guess the red was not repainted too often in wartime and would have dulled given sea weathering. Planning to use thinned tamiya matt red, with semi gloss varnish.
  5. Hi Steve and thanks for the welcome. I'll get along to Rushmere some time soon!
  6. Hello: I have recently acquired the Hobby Boss 1:350 Pola. I have seen the warnings, but for the ludicrous asking price decided I'd have a look for myself, given that I'm easing myself back into this scale. So this model will be a practice run before I turn to the rather more expensive Japanese counterparts Tone and Mogami (the latter a fortuitous Ebay find!) I'm pretty sure Italian warships did not have the usual red hulls, but were green: does anyone know of a good colour match available in the UK? Recommended upgrade parts also welcomed! Thanks in advance, Trevor
  7. Thanks Jon, the link looks useful - I have some biplane pending too!
  8. Thank you. Very fond memories of the Iron Duke and the Hood as Airfix kits that fuelled my obsession!
  9. Thank you Bentwaters, yes, aware of you and hoping to rock up once Covid abates..
  10. Getting back into scale modelling in retirement, when the weather's too cold or wet to be on a motorbike! Enjoying a few 'straightforward' 1:48 & 1:32 aircraft whilst I summon up the guts to start my real love - 1:350 naval. Did a Warspite a while back and it was OK, but have treated myself to the Hasegawa Akagi - all 800 pieces of it! Terrified of PE and rigging, but my fascination for the Imperial Japanese Navy is such that here we go!
