  1. Anyway..... couple of updates Temporarily back in frame, with points cover and air cleaner cover temporarily on. Tappets fitted. Oil pump and hoses fitted and rigid oil line to head and crossover pipe added Oil drain plug fabricated on inner chaincase Oil hoses added Front oil tank mount/clutch cable bracket added to frame Rear oil tank mount Front battery tray mount. Kit doesn't have a front mount at all. Can't believe how easily the paint rubs off the silvered parts. Will have to repaint the transmission end cover So many things have to involve things that I really don't want to start on yet. The rear battery mount bracket is also the lug for the battery hold down strap. So i have to temporarily fit the battery housing in place to get that bit right. But... I've run out of 1.2 hex nuts, so will have to wait until after bank holiday for them to arrive. Once all 4 Battery/oil tank mounts are fitted, I'll cut away the plastic kit mounts. Thanks for looking Gary
  2. Well, looking at the 2 side by side, I can see it. Not sure my modelling skills are up to altering it though. 😭
  3. Can you go into a bit more detail? maybe I'm missing something, but compared to real engines, it doesn't look too far away from what it should look like. Is that instead of being at 12 minutes past, it should be at maybe 5? Here's the model And the real thing
  4. Not sure why I've spent best part of 2 days on the carburettor, It can barely be seen once the air cleaner is on, but it's good practice if nothing else Thanks for looking Gary
  5. Little update. Been working on the engine and associated parts. Quite happy with how it's progressing I think I'm happy with the colours, aluminium mainly. Starter motor done. Just needs cable added Primary chain case. The starter in the kit is a bit short and never reaches the little bracket that supports it to the transmission on the end. I've extended the mount and added the studs Oil pump reworked. pressure switch and extra outlets added Dry fit Individual parts Pressure switch Painted and assembled Gasket between pump and front cover Transmission cover plate drilled out and studs/nuts added Thanks for looking Gary
  6. These are incredible. You must be so pleased how they have turned out. Fantastic!! Gary
  7. Words like incredible and stunning, really aren't good enough to describe this. I'm just in awe
  8. So after having this kit in the loft for a good few years, I've finally made a start on this 1/6th Tamiya Harley Davidson Classic bike. The kit is the black classic, but I'm going to base it on the 75th anniversary model from 1978/9 and paint it in Harley Davidson black cherry. I'm planning on going all out on detail and mods, adding all the bits missing from the kit. My plan is to have working lights, but I might be so sick of it by that stage, that I'll bin that idea. I'm going to be bolting and screwing as much of this as possible. This will also allow me to build it in MY order and not as the instructions say to do This is the crankcase with the moulded bolts cut off and holes drilled. God, it takes an age doesn't it? Tappet blocks on and a couple of cylinder studs in Cylinders on My plan was to finish the engine before I moved on to the frame, but because I needed to drill several holes in the block for attaching to the frame, I had to assemble the frame and test fit, so I could drill in the correct places Reworked transmission plate. Kit one is too short and too thin. Took forever cutting off the moulded bolts and cleaning out the elongated mounting holes. Transmission can slide now for precise lining up with the primary chain case Studs fitted to underside of transmission Transmission bolted to frame Rear and front of engine bolted to frame Now all the holes are where they should be, I can put the frame aside and concentrate on the engine. Once I'm happy and everything is where it should be, I'll take it all apart and paint it, before final assembly Thanks for looking Gary
  9. Absolutely fantastic. Hard to tell from the real things. Although I’m more into Apollo, I was obsessed with those first couple of Columbia launches. With the fuel tank painted white. I remember David Scott was ITNs space expert, being interviewed by Anna Ford. There was some concern about missing tiles on the OMS pods. Then watching it coming into land, at that crazy steep angle with the chase planes following it…. Wow. looking through all your stuff, and thinking of myself as something of an Apollo “expert”, I thought I saw a couple of mistakes on your CSMs. Missing docking probes! Then I read the description that said they were in TEI, and a quick Google later found out something I’d never even thought about before. As there obviously aren’t any photos of the real thing at this stage of the journey. The docking probe is left in the LEM after final jettison. (Apart from Apollo 14, which was brought back for examination) And the whole docking ring is also jettisoned. Turns out I’m no expert after all😂😂. Unlike yourself. Outstanding Gary
  10. Would be amazing if full size, but like all the rest, 1/6th I'm afraid
  11. I read an interesting, and sad story about the filming of Kelly’s Heroes. there’s a scene where they are all sitting on top of a Sherman as it drives through a small village. At the side of the road, sits an old man, one of the villagers, and he stands up to watch them as they disappear into the distance. seconds later, the man collapses from a heart attack. The film crew rush over to help, but he was already dead. The crew and the actors, all chipped in and paid for his funeral. Gary
  12. Thanks again for all the great comments Gary
  13. Thank you for all the great comments Ah, thanks for that. Yes that's all starting to ring a bell now Yes, St Christopher's Place. Great little shop. Is a shame indeed
  14. Sorry for being vague Made all these figures probably 30 odd years ago, maybe more. Bought them all from a small shop in the West end of London. It was called Two Flags. I think it was off Wardour street. Don't know if it's still there These are all metal (pewter?) figures all around 3 inches tall. No idea on manufacturer, although I do still have an unmade one somewhere that is supposed to go with one of these figures Thanks for looking Gary I think this is Black Watch I have a feeling this is a Spanish soldier This is based on Sharpes Rifles I think, can't remember the regiment. This is the one that I have the unmade kit for. They go side by side This one's French. That's all I know Also French. Cavalry I think This one is British Again Cavalry I think. Probably my favourite No idea with this one. Not British or French anyway Made this for my father in law's birthday one year. He passed away several years ago, so I got it back. I think it's French
  15. Well that's some good local knowledge you have there. Just had to google George Gilroy. Wow, friendly locals 🤣 All I can say, is I was very well looked after all the way through, even the food was pretty good. Don't have any Suzukis, but I do have a Kawasaki. Made probably 30 odd years ago
