  1. Yeah, I'd prefer a larger scale as someone who builds 1/48 + aircraft, 1/700 ships are too fiddly for my fat ol' fingers!!! lol
  2. Sounds like the world of model warships isn't too well catered for? Scalemates seemed to indicate a lot of the kits are from the mid 80s - 90s?
  3. Sorry to hijack a little, but if I wanted a 1/350 RN ship from the last battle of the Bismark, ie the Norfolk, or King George V, would that be possible, and which kit would be a good starter? My brief research tells me there's HMS Hood and Prince of Wales by Trumpeter, are these good kits to start with?
  4. I actually ordered the tamiya one (1/35 scale) from amazon! I'll give that one a whirl! If I get on with armour I might try the RFM one at a later date. Thank you all for your input.
  5. That's probably where I'm at to be honest, if the film depiction isn't really reality, I'm not that interested, I'd rather make what is supposed to be in reality, not a fictional mashup.
  6. What is the verdict on the 'best' M4A3E8 kit, this is the 'Easy Eight' variant correct?
  7. Sorry to revive a 'thread from the dead', but is there any one brand of acrylic paint that has a 'better'/'easier to work with' yellow than the others, I use mostly Mr Colour paints, and their yellow mostly like using water when not even thinned and even if using a white undercoat.
  8. I saw this on Scalemates, but no idea what the kit quality is like? If its naff, I'd rather avoid seeing as I'm used to Eduard quality kits.
  9. Little help required, I don't build armor at all, only 1/48 WW2 planes, and know where I'm at with these. But armor I'm somewhat clueless, so I'm after some guidance as to the 'best' kit to enable me to build the 'Fury' Sherman. I don't know why, but I thought there was a specific kit released for this? Any guidance on an appropriate kit would be appreciated.
  10. I'd want to be going for the original, as per alt-92's post up the top. Thanks for all the info.
  11. As the title really, I'd love to build a Phantom of the Ruhr 1/48 Lancaster, however it's a MkIII I believe, and the HK models lanc is a MkI. I'm not overly sure what the difference is apart from a cursory Google which says engines? Is this correct, if not what else would need to be changed (if possible) to create the Phantom of the Ruhr?
  12. Genuinely thought the first image was a real airplane! 🙈 Seeing models like this make me want to give up as I'll never make a model to that standard! 😆
  13. Is any kit 100% accurate, surely there has to be some acceptance that no kit is and as such one should just enjoy it for what it is?
  14. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought S-NWY was tripe! People getting all misty eyed over people dying, for me none of it had any emotional impact! As for Eternals, shall we all pretend that film just didn't exist?!
  15. Can't help but think the guy is kinda selling out and turning in to a bit of an attention seeker, he has married Rita Ora after all!! **SPOILERS BELOW** With regards to the film, it pretty much went nowhere other than to kill off Jane, and introduce his daughter, he may or may not appear as a character further down the line. And the GoTG appearance was of zero significance. Seemed like a lot of ideas being crammed in to one film.
  16. I'm in no rush, so I'll keep an eye out for the hobby2000 version. A much nicer price tag! Thank you
  17. So I've been having a hunt around, can find the Kinetic Gr1/3 for around £50 and the Hasegawa Gr7/8/9 (on ebay 'used') for between £40-50, are those prices fair, more specifically the Hasegawa one as its via ebay as everywhere else has no stock?
  18. I use scale mates quite a bit, but it doesn't give much of an idea as to the quality of the kits, hence asking here.
  19. If I'm looking at 1/48 scale, does that influence the options more one way or another?
  20. I think my expectations are set by the quality of the latest Eduard and Tamiya kits, I wouldn't say my skill level is up there, as such I wouldn't want to be doing too much erm, faffing!
  21. So far I've only made WW2 aircraft which is pretty simple to get good quality kits (Eduard/Tamiya), but when it comes to modern aircraft, what kits should I be looking at for good fit etc. Suggestions welcome, thanks.
  22. Yeah, funnily enough, when one of the others mention sponge, I instantly twigged that what I wanted more than a closed cell foam!
