  1. Yea it is definitely difficult to get the true color of that red in photos. I remember the first time I saw it in person I was taken back at how bright it was. I believe I purchased them from Macs Modeling. I believe they are made by Hiro. Here is a link to a online retailer selling them. https://www.hibroom.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=637720
  2. Wow, I'm jealous. I was watching here in the US. Tape delayed of course, cause it was almost impossible to see a race live here at that time. Thank you! Thank you. First time painting a figure as well. Would like to give it another go in the future. Thank you. It still sticks out to me, but to most who have seen it, don't notice it. Its such a iconic livery, and it bums me out that I screwed it up. I have a 1/20 MP4/4 with the Top Studio super detail set in my stash. That will be my next F1 car I build. Thank you! I tested two different colors for the "Red". They were sprayed from the can too FYI. Was planning TS-96, but it was way too orange for me. Too orange from what I remember. The TS-36 is too pink. So I sprayed 96 over the 36 and the result is exactly what I wanted. I've seen the color in person and its still a little off, but close enough for me. This was just the TS-96 on the white.
  3. Built this last year during quarantine. First F1 model I had built in about 15 years. This kit had been sitting in in a box in the garage since before my first child was born. I had always wanted to complete this kit just as I have. I did not complete the engine, and glued the cowling onto the kit. A true curbside kit for sure. There are a couple spots I'm not happy with but overall I'm pretty happy with it. The part that bugs me the most is that I completely flubbed the nose stripe. I didn't notice it until assembly I did a horrible masking job and didn't paint far enough back towards the mirrors. Most wont notice but you know damn well that will bug me. Paint turned out good, decals went on well, and it looks like a real race car. Haha. Thanks for looking.
  4. I'll never be a pro, but I don't strive to be. I do this for the enjoyment. Thank you I appreciate that! Thank you! We saw him yesterday and he is still beaming over it. He does wood working for a hobby and has built a base for it, and having someone do a custom glass enclosure for it. I don't know why I stuck to spray cans for so long. I love the airbrush! These were super small, so I could get away with some imperfections. I know they are there, but dad didn't see them. Wow, thank you! Thank you. I didn't want to do too much, I think I did just the right amount. Thank you, appreciate it! Hopefully they get the win today!!! Wow you are too kind! Thank you Haha thank you. To dad its perfect and that's good enough for me. Thank you! I plan on building an F-117 soon that he gave me last night.
  5. Awesome, I will give that a shot. I'll need to grab some extra decals first thought.
  6. This was built for my father, with a few special touches as well. First the pilot figure has been painted to look like him and reflect his favorite football program. The VF-33 decals were chosen because in June of 1981 the starfighters began using the F-14. That is significant because I was his first born, June of 81. Besides all of that, this was my first go at a aircraft, as well as using an airbrush for the first time. Plenty of mistakes were made, this kit is far from perfect, but man I'm pretty proud of it. This won't be my last aircraft. Definitely a blast to build.
  7. This is absolutely stunning.......
  8. Been a lurker here for a long time. Decided I should sign up and start posting since I spend so much time here already.
  9. Thank you! I was hoping someone would notice that and comment. When I first did it I was worried I chipped it too deep. Ahh, I didn't think of that. Suggestions on how to possibly add that little detail in now? Thank you. As I said this was the first time I had ever done any form of chipping. I found that this would be the best route for me. It took maybe an hour to hip the hull and turret.
  10. Thanks. I will be sharing the progress as I go along. Thank you!
  11. Found this kit at a garage sale over the summer and thought I'd give it a shot. Started with a base of Tamiya Red Primer, then a quick pass with German Grey. On top of the hairspray, I used AK paint, and then started chipping. Considering this is my first time chipping anything, I think it turned out pretty well. Next up are decals, detail painting, pin wash, and weathering. I really am enjoying this. I don't want to put it down honestly. Let me know your thoughts for a first time armor builder.
