Currently reading a book from my local library on the F-86,and its kinda got me interested in building one.
With all the overseas operators aswell as USAF jets,i wondered if anyone would be up for a GB?
You're actually going to BUILD something?

Hi Neil;
Where exactly did you get the Cooper Details set from??
Pete
Tell the truth, I had that set kicking around for ages, Roy Sutherland (Cooper Details) gave me that set with a bunch of others quite a few years ago. So it was a long while before I actually did anything with it (I think most of us are guilty of that, where model stuff is concerened!! :whistling: )

A couple more from the vault ....

Jaguar? (Vain hope I know!!)
Give that man a lollipop! I have a photo too, but the nice man at Trumpeter asked me not to put it on the internet. I can understand that, given that one blurry photo would cause a storm of abuse from the rivet counters!Jen.
Hmmmm, interesting! :whistling:

-
Lovely build going on there Jen, they do look good in that camo.
As for Trumpeter........... I did see a large scale British jet aircraft at the resin masters stage - but it wasn't a Phantom
Jen.
Jaguar?
(Vain hope I know!!)

This may not be a huge help, doesn't exactly show a great deal (you may even already have this pic!).

Sort of reminds me a little bit of a Spitfire seat.

-
I'm now going to say three things. This is to see if Neil can add them altogether and understand what I'm getting at:-
1/72
Tamiya
Twin-stage
(Hope my hints aren't too subtle!)
Already ahead of you on that one....

Full list is here:
http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/index.php...%5B%5D=code+asc
Once the instructions are drawn up, they will be released. Working on them at the mo.

-
I have a 1/72 highball belly here if anybody wants it. Not sure if it is a complete conversion as it is just the bomb bay and bombs
That one is now well out of date, been superceded by something more comprehensive.

-
Just for Mike, when you get the bits in the post these two pics will show you where all the bits go, because the instructions are not finished yet.
This is the Narromine one, if you do a UK based one leave off the 4-blade props, arrestor hook, tropical intakes and the second reinforcing strip from the left fuselage side.

Im jealous the way you guys do your weathering, any hints and tips for a newb like me?
The weathering on the panel lines was a coat of black sprayed on them before the top coat of camo colours. Worked out quite well. A little bit of thinned Paynes Grey oil paint was put on here and there after the camo colours were dry too, though not too heavily.

Gee thanks Neil...
I'm building this kit at the moment and I've heard there is something wrong with the dimensions. Can you say how you did the resin plugs?
With my build I decided it looked like a spitfire so I was determined to avoid AMS and build it out of the box. But now...... I'm kinda interested in what the main issues are. So can someone enlighten me.
Now I don't want to re-open any old wounds or start a war on what kit is better
But I'm just interested in what is (or is perceived to be) wrong with this kitPlus those flaps look good, so I'm considering having a go at something similar
I don't know all of the in's and out's of the faults with the kit, but the extended section I put in is about 4mm I think. I made a sort of 'L' shaped cut in the rear fuselage and just slid the tail back and filled the gaps with small scraps of resin that were laying around. Piccy below:

And the flaps are the kit parts cut out and the ribs are sliced from a piece of paper which had been soaked in thin superglue. (Had no plasticard at the time!). Another piccy below:

Ta for the comments, peeps.
. The Spitfire is such a nice shape, dontcha think?Flaps down? On a Spifire?Looks very, very good Neil. Now go do one in 1/72...
It was, ahem, in for maintenance that day :whistling:
That is definately one of the better Spitfires I've seen Neil, you are really quite good at this modelling lark aren't you! :whistling:
Jen.
Results of a mis-spent youth on my part I think Jen. I was always faffing around wih model 'planes as a kid.
He should make a acreer out of it
Now there's a thought ....

Built from the 1/48 Hasegawa kit, a jolly 'ole Spitfire! Built with a Cooper Details resin cockpit set and some scratch built flaps. I heard about the length/shape issues with the fuselage and did a little bit of modifying to it. It isn't the perfect solution to the fuselage errors, but it looks like a Spitfire to me :whistling:
First pic shows the scraps of resin inserted into the cut rear fuselage to gain a bit of overall length, also some scraps inserted into the lower fuselage and around the lower fin/rudder area. Not an ideal answer, but good enough at the time

-
Obviously most of you have seen this before, but what the heck ....
. Jaguar T4 converted from the Airfix GR1/3 kit using, er, somebodys resin conversion and add ons. Not to mention Ed Granthams funky auxiliary inlet door hinge decals and crew names.

Another one from the way-back-when list! More or less straight out of the box, except for being rescribed. For the life of me cannot remember if they are kit markings or not though. Used some of my 60lb rockets under the wings, which I think is the only aftermarket stuff on it.

It was airbrushed using Extracolour enamels, thinned with cellulose thinners. Dries nice and quick that way.

Built this many years ago, the Cooper Details multi-media Whirlwind. Main airframe components are vac-form, with resin cockpit/detail components. I think there may be some white metal bits in there too, such as u/c legs, and also some photo-etch bits and pieces. If I remember correctly, it was quite an enjoyable thing to put together.

I always liked the 'look' of the Whirlwind, it's probably those closely grouped cannons in the nose that does it.

-
That's neat, very original way to display it like that!

Great shots Neil - any plans to produce these in resin (I know you've probably been asked this a lot )
John
Thanks Neil,I hope we'll be seeing them from you

Stephen
If I had enough time spare I would certainly give them a go. My hands are a bit full with a bucket load of those new Mosquito bits at the mo I am afraid.

A few Hawk pics, with clear shots of the flap area.

-
A few pics of Brimstones fitted to the Tornado, taken at a Coltishall open day and Marham. Gives a good idea of the pylon shapes etc.
