Just remembered something else.... some of the 'cookie' carrying Mossies also had elevators with enlarged horn balances (as on the TR33 Sea Mosquito). You would have to check references though, it is very difficult to tell if they were fitted from side views of aircraft.

Here's a side view of bomb/trolley/bomb bay area.

That pink Jag is XX725 ? We have a forum member here who used to fly XX725 (in it's JFP incarnation).
-
Rather nice there Jen! They always did look good in the green/grey scheme.

Thanks again for the replies folks. Len, I will have to double check when I get home which books I have/have not got. This is the best I have dug up so far ...... (Just out of interest, would there of possibly been a 'revised' edition of the "Separate Little War" book? With additional pics? I may get the book anyway, sounds an interesting read, regardless of the pics I guess).

Had a look through some more of my books, and have found a perfect side-on view of 143 Sq. 'NE.D' RS623, on the ground, fitted with the two-tier rockets AND the guard-rail thingies!! (In 'Mosquito, The Original Multi-Role Aircraft' by Graham M. Simons, page 89). However .... the arrangement of the guard-rails cannot be seen because, er..., the ruddy rockets are in the way!

Thanks for the replies. Hmmm, curious. I have not actually seen this book, so thought I would ask. Possibly a good thing that I did!!

Just a quick question. I am about to possibly order the book "A Separate Little War, The Banff Coastal Command Strike Wing Versus The Kriegsmarine And Luftwaffe, 1944-45" (Andrew D. Bird) from the Amazon website, does anybody have a copy of this? My main queery is that, apparently, there are some reasonable shots of the 'guard rail thingies' that are located between the underwing drop-tanks and rocket rails. Is this the case? If this is the case, and the pics are reasonable I will order the book. Thanks for any advice.

I keep telling you, you really should try and get the Mrs into model planes .... I've got plenty of spare Mosquito kits if she wants to have a go at one. By the way, the decal-sheets could be back on the cards again.
-
Got a copy of the SAM Combat Colours No.6 here, and there is a profile which says Ocean Grey spinners, Feb. 1944 if that is any use. (MM 417).
-
Agreed, looks spot on to me, not too prominent.
-
Agreed. It is looking good, all of the u/c bits and pieces in particular.

Sorry to see the Jags finally coming to an end. (Have some very good memories of when they were at Coltishall, over the years). Nice pics there.
-
Bloomin' impressive stuff.
-
Use 'stickers' for those...... oops, I mean 'decals'.
-
Andrew I scribed lines around each spinner by supergluing a sharp point to some coins and 'swiping' the point all the way around them. Height of the point can be raised/lowered by adding or removing coins (or any other flat material that can be used as a shim). With scribed lines it makes painting the rings much easier

They will be in both scales I took most of mine off with a coarse file, then when you get close to the fairing shroud finish off with wet 'n dry paper. Pic of the trials Highball (note the 6 stub exhausts on the outboard side of the nacelles, however the standard 5 stub exhausts were still retained on the inboard sides of the nacelles, though this fit was not used on production aircraft). Bomb bay On deck of the carriers when they arrived in Australia

Thanks for the comments 'peeps.!! I should of seen that one coming shouldn't I ? Spinning, huh ? Do you have provision for a sick-bag I can use then ? :whistling: If I remember correctly, my flying helmet came off the last time, when you pulled that loop. Must remember to do the chin-strap up next time ....
-
No problem Steve, just finished the instructions for all the new stuff, now waiting for all the canopies to arrive. A bit behind schedule but getting there!! I'll show you how to ride a motorbike .... :whistling: Thanks Nick. They really are a nice thing to put together.

The lovely little 1/72 Tamiya Mosquito FB VI. Surely one of the best looking 'planes ever? Seriously tempted to make another Mosquito of some description.
-
Tamiya Clear can sometimes work, takes a fraction of the BMF shine away though. What I have done before is to just coat the panels which have decals on them, one way to give a slight panel variation.

I think Jens is pretty much right, don't think many Intruders had the 'Arrow' radar aerials between the nose guns. However .... in the SAM Combat Colours No.6, on page 14 there is an Intruder scheme Mossie NFII profile with the radar between the 4 x 0.303" guns, DZ716, UP. L, from 605 Sq. (Green/Grey uppers, and Night underside).

I generally think that 2 seaters can look nicer than single seaters, prime example for me is the Jaguar. The GR1/3's look ok, but the T2/4's are aesthetically so much better, far more 'elegant' and streamlined looking. Though I do know a man who might possibly just dissagree with that. (Steve ....? :whistling: )

Found another lurking on my PC, think this is quite an early Jag pic.

Always nice to see the pics again of the finished Tornado, John. Spiffing stuff. Matt I made another delivery to the warehouse at Lowestoft on the Saturday just gone, the above items were in amongst the order so Hannants should have them back in stock now.
