Really am tempted with this GB now, . Either a car or motorcycle of some description, will have a browse at some options down a Hannants warehouse next time I am there. Thinking about it, also got some bits of flat carbon-fibre that could be polished up/cut to size and fixed to a wooden plinth. Would make a nice model display base for a racing vehicle of some description. Presumably there are aftermarket bits and pieces/add ons for cars/motorcycles etc? In the same way as for aircraft and such? (Never looked into it seriously before).

If you are doing that one, drop Steve (jagmate) a line, he could probably tell you more about that one than anybody ....

Thanks Radek The pics from the Powershot surprised me too, to be honest. It's a nice straightforward little camera, easy to use, though I always use one of those tiny little tripods for the pics, with the camera set on the timer for a couple of seconds so that the pic is always in focus. There are some newer Powershots on the market now, and I would definately buy another one. (Thinking of getting a newer one with the flip-out screen). When I get a spare moment, I will put some pics together here somewhere, to show how I do the oil-paint panel lines and shading. That's another cheque I will have to pop in the post then Greg ....

May have a dabble in this GB, depends on what spare time I have.

Now that looks familiar ....

Yup, back at work now. Pat dropped into the workshop before I went on holiday, I think he quite enjoyed the flight you gave him!! By the way, there is a box of brand-spanking Jaguar books sitting here in the workshop for you, all yours when you next pop in here. Brought the 109 and the Merc CLK back home with me, wrapped them in bubble-wrap and sat them in a box. Put them in the suitcase and happy to say there were no breakages coming home. Took them to club night yesterday evening, coincidentally.

The aircraft you have done certainly carried non-live bombs (from what I can gather) which appear to be in the underside colour. Do 'em grey .... To prove a point, your Highball Mossie below.... they look grey to me, matey. (And I am back in the UK after my hols now. Unfortunately ).
-
Pfffft .... who needs camo at the height they were intended to fly at ?
-
Mike, dug up another little snip-ette .... This is essentially about 617sq 'Dambusters' ( ) including a live test of their bomb. There is also footage of 618sq Highballs; at 1:07 there is a shot of a Highball bomb spinning in the bomb bay, at 3:25 footage of practicing against a ship (which I posted before somewhere on here) and at 4:22 there is head-on footage of a Highball being dropped and bouncing up the beach towards the camera. All the Highballs are painted with stripes, presumably for high-speed camera film playback for observational purposes.

Definately not clad in wood. (I have some line-drawings of the bombs somewhere). They could well be Green for practice, Black for 'live'. Will check some books when I fly home in a few days (I'm just guessing colours at the mo' !! ).
-
They were indeed at Beccles, I have a feeling they didn't drop Highballs on the runway though. When based at Beccles 618 sq used to practice dropping the bombs off the coast at Wells in North Norfolk, the tide goes out a long way there and the bombs could be examined/recovered when the tide was out. There was a silhouete of a carrier deck painted on the runway at Beccles though, so they could 'practice' carrier landings. Thats a good question .... will have to check on that when I get home next week. Just guessing, possibly black-ish or a 'steel' colour maybe? I do know that they did mark the bombs with Red paint on the left, and Green paint on the right, so that they could not be loaded the wrong way around. Probably just a small strip or dab of paint either side?? Looking good there Mike

Hmmm, strange .... the link worked worked fine when I posted it. Very odd .... Cheers Doc,

Unfortunately not .... Hear what you are saying, main reason I opted for those markings really!

Sometimes it's difficult to resist the urge to add SOME kind extra little thing here and there, building out of the box seems a bit odd these days! (Did I mention the nice lady in the art shop at all .... ).
-
Great looking Hunter, very realistic. Wash your mouth with soap ....
-
Ta peeps . Highly recommend these little things as a neat, relaxing build. I know you don't mean it .... .
-
Blimey, missed this one! Very nice Andy .
-
Triffic stuff, nice looking build there. Absolutely, agree with that .

Right oh, finished another quickie holiday build, the 1/48 Hasegawa Bf 109 E. Nicely simple to put together, they take no time at all to build up, a very hassle free kit which I have made straight from the box, no faffing around with detailing or any aftermarket stuff. There are four decal options with this particular one, three Luftwaffe and one Japanese (apparently a handful were sent to Japan for evaluation), I chose the latter version just as something a little different and a bit of a change from the norm. Painted in Humbrol enamels (which I luckily found lurking in the shed, left over from the last time I was here) with a coat of semi-matt picture varnish on top which I grabbed from the nice lady in the local art supply shop. Applied no pre-shading at all on this one, the panel lines were enhanced using a thinned application of Paynes Grey oil-colour only (again obtained from the nice lady .... ). Exhaust staining was airbrushed.

Getting back on Oct. 17th, old chap. I have the moulds for the corrected underwing pylons back home. Never got around to doing the landing gear in resin, though IF (BIG IF!!) I get the chance I could try and grab a Jag kit out here and make a start on them and mould them when I get home. The same could be said for those corrected intakes with closed auxilliary doors and the rounded internal corners. Don't hold your breath though, I am still on hols .... May be an idea to twist Ed Granthams arm into do a big ol' batch of those intake hinge decals?? (I like volunteering other people into doing things ).

Had a couple of emails requesting the link to my 1/48 Jaguar T4 build; I know many of you have seen it before (more than once!!) but if any of you want to see it for any current builds you have underway here it is. Alot of it could also be useful for the GR1 and GR3, and in some respects could possibly be handy for 1/72 kits in certain aspects. Appologies for posting the link again, look the other way if you have seen it before etc, etc. Linky: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index....showtopic=57622

Get back on October 17th.

That's a neat way of solving the problem, just the job.

OK and while I am at it on the intakes....

Stopped off in Phoenix after driving through Arizona in '98 (?) on the way to the US Nationals in Santa Clara, CA. Had a most enjoyable time (from what I remember ....) at a bar I think was called 'R & R Styx' or something like that?? The bar was run by a lady by the name of Cee-Cee or something similar, she once played a part in 'Bullet' staring Steve McQueen, there were lots of film (movie) pics around the bar, and if I remember correctly womens underwear hanging from the walls (I may of been imagining that last bit though .... ). There was plenty of sawdust/peanut shells on the floor and we drank from big glass jars, like jam-jars, instead of beer glasses. We got on famously with the locals in the bar (I think it was our accents that did it ).
