I had a sneaky feeling this was going to be a little awkward to find clear pics of . From what I can gather, the clips came as two halves which were bolted together to clamp onto the rocket body, then slid onto the rails. Could be an idea to get in touch with the Mosquito Museum, wouldn't mind visiting there again actually, not been down there for years. Managed to grab a copy of the Aero Detail book from HLJ as you suggested Edgar, not a bad publication.

Am still very much on a Mosquito vibe at the moment, and currently I am searching for some clear, detailed pics or accurate diagrams of the attachment clips which held the rockets in place onto the underwing rails. As usual I have searched all of my own reference material etc and there are several pics of the rockets/rails etc but none of the shots that I have found are particularly clear to be perfectly honest. If anybody could point me in the direction of some nice detailed shots, that would be jolly handy! These are the attachment clips, below:

Thanks Edgar, that could be handy! Of all the references I have on the Mosquito, the Aero Detail is one reference that I never did get hold of, will pull my finger out at some point and actually find a copy.

Am trying to find some good, detailed pic(s) of the filler caps mounted on the upper front of the drop tanks installed on Mosquito's. I have a bucket load of reference pics on the Mosquito, but for the life of me cannot find any clear pics of them (unless it is a case of me doing the "cannot see the wood for the trees" kind of thing!). I have found one or two rather non-descript pics, but they are not much use. Ta for any help.

Possibly! Credit to Airfix for including the bulged starboard window as an optional part. Also applicable to the TR 33's, FB XVIII 'Molins', both of which would be quite something in 1/24.
-
Nope. However, the bulged starboard side window for the Fighter canopy is included on the transparent sprue.

S.M.M. did not not order any of the Mk31 nose extensions, Steve did order a Lincoln Conversion (part No.72051) but I emailed him back to let him know that I do not have any of those sets. The Mk31 Nose Extension is part No.72052, I do have a couple of those. Maybe there was just a slight mix up in the ordering of part numbers?
-
Nick did get one from me recently, I have one or two still in the workshop. Item number 72052.

Nope, I never did one of those, not sure if anybody else does either to be honest. -

This was converted from 'Ye Olde Ancient' Airways 1/48 BI(8) vacform (the lopsided canopy jobbie) about 15 yrs ago, not surprisingly lots of scratchbuilding went into it; i.e undercarriage/flaps/interior/canopy etc. I built it for a friend of mine, Ron Mitchell, who owned the aircraft at the time, although I think the real 'plane was eventually sold to somebody in Australia? Not sure if this one counts as such, but it is the 1/72 Italeri kit. -
I actually tried the moulds over the weekend and was able to cast a small number of 1/72 Lincoln conv, so if anybody does need one I have a few available.
-
You would not see the intakes as such. The ram air turbine which spun the bombs was fed by air introduced via a retractable/extendable air scoop (on the side of the bomb bay) and the scoop was only extended into the airflow just prior to the bombs being dropped. When the aircraft was on the ground the scoop would of been in the retracted position.
-
I have a feeling that the moulds may be shot, they could need renewing. Not checked on that for a while to be honest. I will look into it when I get a spare moment.
-
The twin 0.5" rear turret is also in my set, the 1/72 Lincoln will be reissued again but at the moment I could not give any precise date. Bit of a vague indication as to when it will be available I know!
-
May have some pics of deployed buckets somewhere, all I can find at the mo are these. Probably not exactly what you are looking for, but at least they give an idea of what is hidden under the buckets and also the heat discolouration, muck and grime etc.

For a sort of anodized/plated 'Gold', you could try what I did in last years Motorsport GB on the Suzuki fork legs. They were first sprayed with Alclad Pale Gold, then airbrushed a coat of Tamiya Clear Yellow on top.
-
Eric, I have a very small quantity of both 1/32 Spitfire XIV conversions if you need one. Yup, they certainly look like my bits, unless somebody has done a crafty and moulded my stuff and included them with the vac-form.
-
Strictly speaking I have not 'officially' reissued those sets, although I do have a small quantity of them, along with various other sets. In truth it is not that I don't want to reissue them, it is just that I have not had the time to put all of my original sets back in production. There are in fact still approx 100 (!!) of my original sets, in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/32 that have still yet to be reissued, finding the time to do so is the problem.
-
I also did two 1/32 Spitfire XIV conversions in resin; 32042 Spitfire Mk XIV Conversion (Standard Canopy Type) 32043 Spitfire Mk XIV Conversion (Bubble Canopy Type) These were based on the Hasegawa kits.

I may have other commitments regarding the time around Telford. What do you need?
-
Mike Certainly, that is if I can actually get my backside into gear and am able to make Telford this year!
-
Right oh, will do, your name isn't on your profile though, so who shall I say you are? He will probably be interested to know that an ex colleague is on one of the forums. Presumably you were stationed at Coltishall with him when he was on Jags?
-
Adrian They were originally sold by Pat Watson several years ago, but I now have them for sale (they are photo-etched brass) and they are £3-99 per ladder. A few more detail shots....
-
Agreed. I think it is more a case of trying to 'deceive the eye' where a Black finish is concerned.
-
Will Paint the entire airframe in a Dark Grey, then highlight the panel lines, recesses, etc with a wash of Black oil paint. I did this on the fins/rudder of an F-18, and the overall effect makes everything 'look' Black.
