So i went into my local pound store this morning and they had bottles of this for £2, Claims to be an alternative to white spirits and will work with water based paints so........
I have currently tested the clean spirit with the following
Revell enamel - doesn't work separates and gums up
Revell Acrylic - Works as a thinner and cleaner
Humbrol enamel - Works as a thinner and cleaner
Humbrol Acrylic - Works as a thinner and cleaner
Tamiya Enamel - Works as a thinner and cleaner
Tamiya Acrylic - Works as a thinner and cleaner
Vallejo Model colour - Works as a thinner and cleaner
Vallejo Model air - Works as a thinner and cleaner
Lacquer Based paint - doesn't work separates and gums up
W&N oil Paint - works as a cleaner but takes a very long time for paint to set and is aggressive to underlying paint layer .
I tried mixing some humbrol enamel in clean spirit and some vallejo acrylic in clean spirit in separate pot then see if they would mix together in the like thinner and they would not , they mixed a little but not consistently despite over a minutes stirring with a paint brush , i also tried thinning some humbrol enamel, vallejo Acrylic and tamiya Acrylic with clean spirit and putting it through a cheap Chinese airbrush and it sprayed very well and dry tip did not seem to be a problem , i will also add it is a very good cleaning agent, i used a very old paint brush to carry out test and after a few washes i could see the original sable brown colour of the brush bristles so it seems good as a brush conditioner , anybody else who has tried this product then please chime in with you're experiences please .
