  1. Black primer (Stynylrez) on! Base colours on Next is the camo colours on the turret/head thingy.................................
  2. Yes! Absolutely. I can just imagine the propaganda effect of something this size all decked out in Squadron/ Brigade colours, so yes Richard, I know exactly what you mean. I've been researching some of the flags and graphic design that fans have been putting together that might well form the basis of exactly this sort of scheme. And from that sort of design principle I came up with this one for Tatooine. So after I've exhausted myself of dazzle/digital/Caunter type schemes I may well have a crack at it.
  3. I think digital is one of those things that has to be done right or it loses the point? I'm wondering if there's a mathematical theory behind it? Anyway, as you can see here with this Malaysian Sea King, when it is photographed against a plain background is stands out like the proverbial dogs balls, but against a busy background one can see the effect of the digital break up taking effect. Eventually I'm going to try and illustrate one of my AT-AT's based on this scheme. Then there's this............................. Which is more along the lines of what I'm experimenting with. To confuse the eye into not recognising the object before them. The experiments continue...............................................
  4. I saw this on the net and immediately thought of yours Andy.
  5. OK, here I reversed the previous scheme, added some more cream colour to the legs and head and did about 4 hours worth of weathering in Photoshop! Cheers Richard.
  6. I've decided to get back to the AT-ST! One of the pressing issues I needed to address was the fit of the turret roof. I found cutting off the areas marked in pink helped a lot. I also began work on some stowage racks on the back of the turret. Here's the sort of load out that I'm aiming for. A bit of filling needed here! Cheers Richard
  7. OK, trying for a cross between the Caunter type desert scheme and dazzle camouflage. Cheers Richard.
  8. Thanks. Interesting. I was wondering if you'd be able to work something out or not. Looks like its as tricky as I thought. I think I'll pursue the dazzle scheme route but with different patterns and colour combinations. And I'll keep chipping away at a digital scheme, you never know............................ Yeah that Berlin scheme looks like it'll work well in a city setting. Cheers Andy!
  9. Outstanding Andy! It looks very industrial. But what is its purpose? Now, I challenge you, produce a digital camouflaged machine. I've tried several times but couldn't end up with anything I liked. I've managed it with the AT-ST no problem, but for some reason the sheer size/bulk of the AT-AT has defeated me. I'd be curious to see what you can come up with. As for the Bandai kit of the AT-AT. I've got it and am slowly building it whilst waiting for various bits to dry of a Gundam I'm currently building. The kit is amazing, as one would expect.
  10. Yeah, already thought along those lines myself Pete. Here's some of my earlier stuff experimenting with dazzle. Experiments continue! Richard.
  11. I've changed the title to include AT-AT's as well since we'll have the new Bandai kit in our hands soon! Trying to design camo schemes for AT-AT's is more difficult than you might imagine. Believe it or not I find designing schemes for the AT-ST easier. I've yet to be able to design a digital camo scheme for the AT-AT that I like, but think it would look amazing in one. With the stunning Bandai kit about to hit my model bench I want to try and get a scheme decided upon ASAP. Anyway guys, let me know what you think of this one and any thoughts you may have on the subject. Cheers Richard.
  12. Here's a good look at the new Bandai AT-AT. It looks amazing! http://wivern.exblog.jp/26761528/
  13. Excellent! Looking forward to these! Any chance of an Su-33 in Syria sheet?
  14. 15. Operation: Wallaby Trap Corporal Dave Treweek had always been artistic. He was amazed as he stared out of the lowered ramp of the RAAF Hercules he was travelling in, at the colours of the Northern Territory. Bright greens and red dirt, mixed with drab and dry desert colours, he’d never seen anything like it before. Little did he know but that moment was going to have ramifications for him and his Squadron, more than he could have ever thought possible. Tensions between the U.S. and China were inevitably going to come to a head. Few could have anticipated just how badly the U.S. and her allies were going to fare against the mighty Dragon! Royal Australian Navy and Royal New Zealand Air Force Skyhawks had been requested to immediately deploy to a newly constructed bare bones air base at a secret location in the Northern Territory. Nobody had foreseen this eventuality and the deployment order came as a struggle for both countries to get their jets north as soon as possible. Both the RAN and RNZAF had recently taken delivery of refurbished A-4F Skyhawks from U.S. stocks. American strategists realising that both countries had a good track record with the type and would be able to bring them online relatively quickly. The RAN received twenty and the RNZAF twenty six. Both forces also received spares, engines, weapons, ground crew and pilots. Many of these from both active, Reserve and retired Marine and Navy personnel. One of the first things realised upon deployment of the first wave of jets was the colours the jets were painted in. The RAN Skyhawks had a mix of gull gray and white and the air superiority colours of light admiralty grey and mid grey and both stood out like the proverbial dogs balls over the terrain of the Northern Territory. The Kiwi’s A-4K’s looked right out of place in their European 1 scheme. With the RAN and RNZAF tasked with providing ground support for Army and USMC troops deployed to defend the North a suitable camouflage scheme was going to be needed and re-painting done as soon as possible. To help with this would be a USMC Harrier deployment. Three Squadrons of AV-8B’s were on their way with everything needed to get the job done! Corporal Treweek, knowing of the urgency of the situation put forward several proposals for camouflaging the Skyhawk fleet. The Aussies already had at their disposal enough water based paint to paint three Skyhawks. As it so happened there were only four Skyhawks deployed to the based by the time Corporal Treweek and his team had arrived and two of the new RNZAF A-4K+ Skyhawks and one RAN A-4G were designated to be the first three jets to begin the camouflage trials schemes. First to get the treatment was RNZAF A-4K+ NZ6222. On its first trial all four Skyhawks were to try to survive an attack by two USAF F-16’s and two F-15C’s. The pilot of No.22 decided to separate from the formation and stay low, but not too low as his shadow would betray his position. It worked! The USAF pilots gloated at how easy it was to bag the Skyhawks only to be told that both the F-16’s had been shot down by the as yet unseen No.22! 16. I read 'somewhere' that the reason for the Silhouette figures in Bandai kits now is because of some law that they have to follow that forbids Bandai from including standing figures in their kits now, but bizarrely seated figures are still OK. Anybody know any more on this?
  17. Nah, just helping out.
  18. A new one for 2017. Cheers Richard.
  19. No sorry. The Tamiya 48th scale F-14A Tomcat has my undivided attention atm. But I really want to get back to this too. I want to get it finished before the Bandai AT-AT comes out!
