  1. 1/32 Hasegawa Nakajima Ki-84 type 4 fighter Hayate. The Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate is a single-seat fighter flown by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Service in the last two years of World War II. The Allied reporting name was "Frank"; the Japanese Army designation was Army Type 4 Fighter. After the war, the Hayte was brought back to the sates for study and testing, and evaluation, where it was found to be the best Japanese fighter aircraft of the war. This kit from Hasegawa was a dream to build, some very good detail to rival Tamiya, all painted with Mr colour solvent paints.
  2. Airfix 1/24 scale Hawker Typhoon Mk.1B The Hawker Aircraft Typhoon was single-seat, fighter-bomber designed against Air Ministry Specification F.18/37 which was eventually issued in March 1938. A year earlier however (March 1937), Hawker Aircraft had pre-empted its issue by producing designs ahead of its eventual release. Initial prototypes built to the specification were named Hawker Tornado and its story runs along very similar lines to that of the Typhoon. Affectionately known as the ‘Tiffie’, the Hawker Typhoon was intended as a high-speed, high-altitude interceptor-fighter to replace the Hawker Hurricane and the Vickers Supermarine Spitfire. The Hawker Typhoon however, was dimensionally designed larger than the Spitfire to accommodate newer power-plants and the type was evolved around the use of the powerful 'H-block' Napier Sabre 24-cylinder sleeve-valve engine and the 'X-block' Rolls-Royce Vulture engine. Subsequent aircraft were often referred to as the 'N' and the 'R' after their relative engine manufacturer. This is the Airfix 1/24 scale Hawker Typhoon Mk.1B The kit went together rather well, with only a minimal amount of filler being used. This aircraft was sprayed with MRP paints, and no decals we're used , its all masks which I cut using tamyia masking sheets. I need to say a big thank you to Steve@drycotetechnolagy, SMART-FX I had originally purchased this base back in 2015, and Steve was on hand to help me set the base up and update the sound effects.   3. 1/32 Revell (squadron scramble) The mega build is finished, 4 x 1/32 spitfires 1 x hobby boss, with the engine exposed, and 3 Revell kits one being the technics kit with lights sound and rotating propeller. The hobby boss was a dream to build, no fuss, just went together very easily. The Revell kits are ok, apart from the fit is a bit iffy, and the Technics kit, well you pay your money and take your chance with this, its basically the same kit as the other two, with wires and electrics, but no allowance has been made for all the extra bits, so you must get you're thinking cap on, but we overcome. All the figures are from ICM apart from 2 which are resin from Dave Allen [email protected] , I think he’s retired now, I know I have had the pilots for some years. All were painted with MIG acrylic colours, which I have to say are brilliant, thank you MIG. And the base was from my good friend Mario Catania who worked to my sketch and measurements, this whole diorama is 800mm x 800mm which is in two halves. Any gaps will be eliminated on the final assembly. This is a dry run set up, which will now be packed up, and I will reassemble and fix everything in place in Mumbi later this year when it will be set in a glass case in an RAF themed bar. Enjoy Mike

  6. This is the TRUMPETER 1/32 Tomcat, a lovely kit is so may ways, detail is fantastic, but you do need to take care on a few areas. I built this using the Aires engine nozzles and the Eduard cock pit detail set, and 2 x Aires ejection seats, all painted with MRP paints. 2003 was one of many milestones for the "Bounty Hunters." The path from work-ups to combat ops to Naval Air Station Lemoore was no easy journey. Accomplishing the tasks required the hard work and professionalism of all aircrew and personnel. In 2003, VF-2 was deployed aboard the USS CONSTELLATION with CVW-2 and participated in Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, SOUTHERN WATCH, and IRAQI FREEDOM, flying over 2000 combat hours and 483 sorties with over 320,000 pounds of ordnance expended. On 28 February 2003, during Operation SOUTHERN WATCH, Bullet 111, flown by CDR Dave "Burner" Burnham and LT Justin "Donger" Hsu, delivered the first F-14D JDAM in combat. VF-2's behind-the-scenes efforts were the driving force behind the early release of the Operational Flight Program (OFP) D04. The "Bounty Hunters" worked hand-in-hand with former Bullet LT Ken “Norm” Bates, VX-31, VX-9, Pax River, and the Class Desk to ensure that the F-14D community would have its badly needed JDAM capability in time for Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. Due to the foresight and persistent efforts of VF-2, all three deployed F-14D squadrons were ready for the war. After the long trip across the Pacific, VF-2's May fly-off ended 30 years of flying the F-14. However somber the moment was, the aircrew and maintainers were anxious to recharge from cruise and meet the new challenges that lay ahead. As the squadron made its way back across the states for its fly-in at NAS Oceana, Bullet 100 of VF-2, flown by LCDR Kurt "Webstur" Frankenberger and CDR Doug "Boog" Denenny, was met by Bullet 100 of VFA-2, one of the jets that they would be flying in a few short months. As the two jets joined up, the bright red, white, and blue Langley stripes painted on both aircraft made for a memorable photo op that marked the end of an era as well as an awesome preview of what was to come. On 1 July 2003, VF-2 was officially re-commissioned as VFA-2, thus beginning transition training to the F/A-18F Super Hornet.
  7. 1/32 Academy F-18 VFC-12 "Fighting Omars" This was built using Quinta studios cock pit decals, and aires ejector seat, its painted using MRP paints. I have to say overall its not a bad kit, I would say its better than the Trumpeter kit, but they both have flaws. One thing I didn’t like is the very small attachment that your given for the tail fins, it really is bad, but as modellers we adapt and over come. Fighter Squadron Composite 12, also known as the "Fighting Omars", is a United States Navy Reserve fighter squadron based at NAS Oceana. It provides adversary training to East Coast Navy air wings. VFC-12 reports to Tactical Support Wing, a component of the Naval Air Force Reserve
  8. The Trumpeter kit has its faults, but its better than the Revell, I built the single seater and it was just full of flash, even the instructions tell you to cut away flash ??. But I am now in to an FA-18A Academy which I have to say at the moment the detailing is far ahead of Trumpeter can you imagine if Tamyia were to do an FA-18 Mike
  9. I think you made a cracking job on the Revell kit very very impressive, I know what a pain it is to build, the nav lights have now been done, I noticed them after I did the post, but thanks anyway Mike

  12. EA-18G GROWLER VAQ -141 “Shadowhawks” former Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 141 This is the 1/32 Trumpeter kit, which isn’t bad if you compare it to the new Revell kits. This was built with the red fox cockpit, and Aires ejector seats, and resin engine nozzles and was painted using a combination of MRP and Hataka paints, enjoy Mike

Hi Yes normal black base coat, then flicked very watered down PVA glue, so I had random droplets , then top coat, then rubbed the PVA off with a rubber, then at the end used 7B pencils, and water based oils and thinners, you have to be patient as you can go dreadfully wrong, as I have discovered on a few occasions. thanks for the comments Mike

A-6A intruder, Finished this week , this is my 5th Build of this kit and its still enjoyable, hers 503 2nd time on this one, with slight differences in the paint scheme , paint's used were MRP paints, and Eduard MER's and Quinta studios cockpit details, everything else was out the box enjoy.   17. Finished 1/32 Tamiya F-15E Israeli Air Force I used the reskin engines on this one, along with the reskin cockpit, and also my trusty Reedoak Figures. This was all painted with MRP paints which I have to say are lovely to use, they dry very quick, and your able to use them in hot weather. I have also used small magnets on the pylons and Python 5, just to make it easier to transport Mike
  18. Just finished the Trumpeter 1/32 SU-27UB , its the 2nd time I have built this in this camouflage pattern, it doesn't get any easier. So its an OTB build, the only extras are the static discharge’s, and Quinta studios cockpit decals, I also used Foxbot masking , but as a template then cut mine out of Tamiya masking sheets, and HATAKA acrylic paints enjoy.   20. thanks for the comments I started the build in November 2020 and finished it around January, evenings and weekends, the client decided he didn't like it. so I had it on my shelf for a year, then it got snatched up by a tornado pilot, I just had to finish the base and do the figures, hence the finished pics Mike
