  1. Lovely job on a gorgeous car. I made one last year as a commission. Apart from one minor fault of mine, it went together without a problem. Sitting in the stash is the big AMT version. Just need the time.
  2. So what do I do with my stash of MatchFix F1a's, F3s T55s and assorted conversions?
  3. I just spray it into a clean aluminium mini fruit pie dish, just enough to work with at a time, then brush as normal
  4. When they arrived, some rich person made an offer on DDE. He said he would not stop his efforts to keep her in the UK until it was actually loaded to the vessel to take it back to the US. Here's hoping. It was brilliant to see them all at York in July, and I saw 60009 at Peterborough in December. First A4 in steam for me.
  5. Very smart.....a 'Proper' Lightning. I think the camera is distorting the images a little, there seems to be more tail behind the main gear than I remember, but I see the nose curves away on the profile shots as well. Does the conversion address the Trumpy faults?
  6. XP and Firefox The T5 is flying, the F6s are being overhauled.
  7. OK this is where we are with the wings/engines. Nothing a little putty won't cure. I bought some SAC Liberator legs, they are close enough for government work. Interior paintwork has begun. Next task is to work out the C/G to see how much ballast is required. Happy days.
  8. Can't watch it.....says I need a plug in, but doesn't tell you how to get one.
  9. Its the TC T5. The F6s are also being overhauled. The US T5 XS 442 is on engine test. Not scheduled to fly yet.
  10. I use Halfords rattle can white primer (matt finish) then overcoat it with Klear. Takes the edge off it and just enough gloss.
  11. No I haven't hung myself yet. There is not much to show, it's just making good the joins around the engines and wings. Not too bad but its waiting for the filler to cure ready for the next sanding. Pics when they are ready over the weekend.
  12. Nice job of an unusual subject. I knew it had been developed but didn't realise the Military had bought some.
  13. I have a pile of FROG and Hase 101's and some nose jobs. To be honest, I wouldn't bother with the cross kitting, you are looking at some serious work, a bit like making an F-4K/M out of a J. If you have access to some Airfix F-4s, you can hack the 'E' nosecone onto the front of an RF and get an F. As I have have more kits than conversion, that is my preferred route. Of course KittyHawk are about to release this. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234939263-kittyhawk-voodoo-148/
  14. Don't be silly, it's Mach 2, nothing is straight. The wing thickness is variable and there is a tendency to dihedral outboard of the engine pods. As it will end up in a cabinet, any faults will not be apparent - I hope. Reference the 'weak' u/c, I am contemplating adapting the SAC B-24 maingear legs.
  15. That's a NOVO repop. That brown plastic is awful. You will probably have to seal the airframe with a coat of gloss black before you start. I had terrible trouble trying to cover it, the brown leeches through. It must be the plastic they used.
  16. The step is not a problem, I just need to carve some plastic from the nacelle where it meets the lower leading edge of the wing and the fit will be good. As for the gaps, they will be filled with strips of plastic sheet then a skim of putty to make it smooth. No real fuss there. If you have ever looked at the Pegasus EAP, it needs more plastic strip and filler than kit components, and I nailed that years ago.
  17. This has now gone to WIP. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234955179-mach-2-b-45-172-scale-picture-heavy/#entry1541288 Thanks to everyone for their help and encouragement. Frank
  18. OK, as promised, this will be a WIP as the finished model is destined for the BCWM http://www.bcwm.org.uk/ A preliminary thread with sprue shots is posted here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234953906-mach-2-b-45/ The airframe in question is shown in post #26. So...on with the show... A quick tape up of the major components revealed few problems, the fit being good from this manufacturer. There are stories about the transparencies, but the fit looks OK so it gets the glazed nose. There are a few sink marks and the trailing edge is a tad short shot. Having assembled the wings, and attended to the flaws, the engine nacelles were mated and the seams filled with Squadron white putty. The intakes and jetpipes are separate and the 'locator pins' are not in the correct places; I found this elsewhere and removed them all. This gave a better fit. Offering up the engines to the wings was interesting. I have known of 'see through' down the jet pipes...but across the engines?? Port wing: Starboard wing: Needs a little fettling! So that is where we are now, The starboard pod will be adjusted to fit. Next stage will be fit and blend the engines, then I will begin painting and assembling the interior. Updates may be sporadic, this is not shake and bake!
  19. Have to concur with the majority here.
  20. Yo! You da man! Now I suppose you want me to build it?
  21. Thanks again. Haydn is sending me some stuff as well, so I will be able to make some serious progress. The fit is 'interesting' in places, as you will see.
