  1. A nice relaxing fishing scene. I can just visualise it now...................
  2. 10 x 30 minimum You could try these. Pentax with a 30 year warranty. http://www.cliftoncameras.co.uk/Pentax_XCF_10x50_Binoculars?gclid=CJj7p7Or7r0CFSOWtAodtwgAeQ This retailer sells Hawke as well. I have no connections to them but have bought from them. I have a pair of Swift that are nearly 40 years old. Excellent but dated in design. I was given some Olympus a few years back of the same spec. Optics were not up to scratch. Chinese against Japanese.
  3. Yep, wot they said. By all accounts, not a good buy.
  4. Well the airframe is complete, canopies on and is in primer. Just need to tidy up the nose greenhouse seams then it's on to the anti-glare panels before the NMF. Once that is done, I will add the u/c and tail bumper.. You have all seen grey primer, so I will post piccies when the silver is applied.
  5. That is a masterpiece of work. Starting with essentially a pile of scrap. It's a shame the wheels are a tad oversize, but then again, that's a minor issue compared with what you have had to do.
  6. I bought 2 at Expo for £1 each and a set of BEA Red Square decals for £9.99. At the end of the show, Cuprar (now banned here) bought up the remainder Mel had. Nothing wrong with them, but the outer transit carton had some wet damage and he couldn't sell them in bulk that way, hence £1
  7. Judging by the size of it in comparison to containers in the shipyard, it might just be big enough to operate their 'stealth fighter'. Then again, it's probably more American propaganda, like their supposed 'drone' that overflew and photographed a US carrier. Uncle Sam scored an own goal then. It was supposedly a 'new threat', but the aircraft on deck were F-14s that went out of service the previous July. That story very quickly got canned.
  8. There were variations in design, and they got renamed with new paint jobs as TT were absorbed into P&O. Some interesting vessels out there, but the interest would probably be insufficient to warrant kit production. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=pride+of+free+enterprise&client=firefox-a&hs=0y6&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=fflb&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=tbxPU4LiJKbH7Abb94HgCA&ved=0CC0QsAQ&biw=1012&bih=597
  9. I remember a talk being given by 'Lanny' Lanowski of the 56FG. He spoke of diving a Spit. If you were not careful, you could pull the wings off it at terminal velocity. He much preferred the 'Jug' for diving.
  10. I keep my spray cans in the airing cupboard (closet for our Colonial friends) That way they stay at a constant warm temp. Often still need a thump to get the balls moving.
  11. Astounding considering the miniscule size of the finished model.
  12. ^USAF by proxy. Once again we did the dirty work. Marty has a point.
  13. OK not much been done for a week or 5. Life has thrown a few wobblers which need attention. A little more done, and I hope it will be finished for just after Easter as our model club meet is at BCWM and I would like to present the finished item, killing two birds with one stone. Couple of shots of the pit. Needs a fair bit of weight, but there is plenty room under the floor for some lead. The canopy is a bit thick, so I haven't done much fine work here. All buttoned up, seams filled and tidied as necessary. On the whole a neat accurate fit with minimal work. Wings attached. There is a little bit of play in the joints, the locating tabs are tight, but some packing is needed to set the angles, there being no dihedral. You can see some small gaps, I haven't filled or filed the joints yet. Note the landing light has been drilled out between the port engine intakes. I will shape some offcut clear sprue to make the lens. Still a good fit for Mach 2. The locating lugs for the horizontal stabs are a bit skimpy, but a dry fit shows a good set up. The next stages will be clean up the wing roots, fit stabs and look at transparencies. The have been gently carved to match the contours. Having a heavy frame helps with the blending in. These are the main gear doors. As you can see, one is rather poorly moulded. Looking at the tip tanks, which I will not be using, there is a flaw. It looks as though the mould had been damaged at some point. There is clearly a crack on the inside face. Comparing this with the u/c door, and there was also a crack visible inside the fuselage, I wonder how long the moulds will be usable. If you want one, perhaps now would be a good time. Till next time.
  14. John Aero does/did stretchy monofilament on a roll. Good stuff.
  15. You can use this as an alternative. Cost/volume is similar. http://www.lakeland.co.uk/20286/Quick-Shine-Floor-Finish It is clear liquid acrylic, similar to Klear/Future/Pledge.
  16. Nice work. I bought one of these, then managed to land a NOVO 1/415 scale instead. Easier on the eyes and fat fingers.
  17. Thanks Rob. That will be useful. Tony (rotorheadtx) has very kindly sent me an MAI Hound Dog. What a nice chap. He hasn't even sent me details on how to pay him yet. I've now contacted 3D Printers to see if they can produce me a pair from the original mouldings. If so, they will hold the programme so more copies will be available. Here's hoping, it will save me moulding copies.
  18. I believe the E has more powerful engines. Don't know about the nozzles though.

  20. I'm getting cross legged. I might have to make a 1/72 offering whilst I am waiting!

  22. Nice job you have done there. The original u/c came from the Avro Athena. Been a long time since I saw these in the air.
  23. No Lightnings were hurt in the making of this thread.
