  1. I'm currently working on Fujimi's Porsche 911 GT3 kit, and I want to achieve a super-high-gloss finish. However, due to my situation, I cannot use lacquer paints such as a 2K clear. What acrylic varnish would produce the highest gloss finish? I've been looking into Vallejo Polyurethane Gloss Varnish and Aqua Gloss, but I've heard they are not actually that glossy. Any suggestions?
  2. Keith, how does the color of the Pebeo compare to the Porsche? And how does the metallic sheen/metallic"ness"? compare to hobby metallic paints? i.e. Vallejo metal color etc. I'm deciding between using Citadel Leviadon Blue + floor gloss vs the Pebeo

Can it be airbrushed? @keefr22 how does this compare to the Pebeo? it is easier to get here Stateside.
  4. Thanks everyone for the advice! I will put some Stynylrez silver primer, AK Interactive metal medium, and hopefully Pebeo paint on order. Any other suggestions are welcome too! Thats the color I want to get my future Porsche in (XD) so I really really want to replicate it.
  5. I am building Fujimi's Porsche 911 GT3R kit, and I would like to paint it in Iris Blue, the color shown in the image below. However, I live in a shared space and despite having a booth with ventilation (Masters Airbrush 2-fan booth), I would like to stay away from Lacquer-based paints. Is there any way I could achieve a color like this with acrylics? I've been considering using either Mr. Color's solvent-based acrylics such as GX Clear or Crystal Color, but I don't know if these solvent-based paints are any less toxic than lacquer-based ones. Tamiya has the X-23 Clear Blue, but it is an almost teal/turquoise blue, which is much too bright for this shade. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  6. Hi all, I've been thinking about putting together a 1/32 scale Super Hornet and fully kitting it out with lights - cockpit lights, fuselage strips, and a lit-up afterburner plume. I plan on hanging it from my ceiling to serve as a bit of a light at night :D.. Would it be feasible to pack all the necessary lighting and power storage within the fuselage to make it have sufficient brightness in the dark, and furthermore power endurance? Any suggestions? Thanks all.
  7. How about using this technique? The results look great and the base item is plastic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zxd_uzRW3OM
  8. Would it be feasible to first spray a layer of conducive paint upon the model, and to then electroplate over that conducive paint?
  9. In honor of the 20th anniversary of Ayrton Senna's third and final Formula One World Championship, I am considering building a replica MP4/6, bedecked in 24-karat gold plating. Is this at all feasible? I am planning on using Fujimi's 1/20 scale MP4/6 as the base for the model, and electroplating 24-karat gold onto the plastic. Will the plastic surface suffice and be able to accept the electroplated gold? Furthermore, I would have to etch the various livery and sponsorship logos into the surface of the gold. How could I go about that? And lastly, if I were to purchase enough 24-karat gold to plate a model the size of a 1/20 MP4/6, how much would it cost? Thanks
