  1. Looking at the kit parts it was probably a compromise due to the need to mould the part in a certain direction to get intake detail.
  2. The preliminary 'box art' is actually an image that Airfix then based their actual box art angle on
  3. The built model of XW544 on the Airfix stand featured XV squadron markings, they have included it as an option within the markings.
  4. Looking forward to seeing this! A couple bits that need attention as the BBMF spit is an E wing and has the broad chord (pointy) rudder unlike the kit scheme. The kit comes with the rudder option but not the parts to make an E wing.
  5. Just on the Culmhead/Harrowbeer issue. In June the squadron operated from Culmhead so if you want to do your local scheme then show it in full D-Day markings as per the box art. However, according to the 126 Summary of events for July they moved to Harrowbeer on the 3rd of July as the main profile represents. So plenty of choice!
  6. Hi Gents, the layout features ML214 at three stages throughout 1944 (June, July & December). June was obviously with the full stripes but before it was flown by Plagis, July when Plagis took it over and had the Kay marking and then late in 1944 when the Muscat decal was added for a photo shoot. Interestingly, the aircraft was apparently damaged at the time of the photoshoot.
  7. All true but in the case of XN974 at Boscombe Down in '71/'72 I'd say that the noise reduction fairings were there on this image: https://www.airlinefan.com/airline-photos/Royal-Navy/Blackburn/Buccaneer/XN974/1884644/ A test aircraft, so probably a few other changes that you'll need to inspect the image for. Such as the bulge under the starboard wingtip and a lack of homer pods on either wing.
  8. Do you mean the early production blister? http://spitfiresite.com/2010/01/cannon-blisters.html
  9. Does anybody have any decent images of the K2/Y in North Africa in service? Not stills from 'Ice Cold...'

  11. Sorry to revive such an old thread! Quote from today's workbench: 'Our final question is the one we always like to ask our designers when they have been kind enough to spend so much time with us. Is there something you would particularly like to design during your time with Airfix? Having spent quite some time at model shows with Paramjit, we thought we had a pretty good idea of what he was going to tell us here. Quick as a flash he said, “A ship and more specifically HMS Queen Elizabeth (R08)”. As for the scale at which his proposed new design would be worked, he told us that there could only be one scale, 1/350th. Let’s hope that he gets the opportunity.' https://uk.airfix.com/community/blog-and-news/workbench/new-buccaneer-s2-go-big-or-go-home
  12. Spurious code and as others have said I'd wait until the final boxing. Just to throw my contribution in, it could be XV162 of HMS Hermes '68-70. Pre-Mod 1188 - relocation of hard points to allow for Martels. Easy enough to mix 621 and 162!
  13. The small fairing in front of each intake prevents the early white schemes, having those pieces as separate parts would likely cause more pain than it's worth for many and compromise the design to cater for a relatively small amount of schemes. Although I don't disagree that it would be nice to see the earlier schemes, I think anyone that commited could shave away or ignore the bullet fairings issue.
  14. Adam, out of interest, what other schemes would you include in the Navy buccaneer release? Pretty sure the noise reduction fairing was only on all over EDSG aircraft and not earlier S.2's. I like the variation between the the two 809's
