  1. Thanks for getting back to me. The resin nose is that the MetallicDesigns one? I wasn't sure if that was aimed at earlier Mig-23's? I was wondering if the Eduard Mig-23MF/ML Ejection Seat and the Eduard Mig-23/ML Nozzle would be fine for the MLD variant? Lastly what is the problem with the weapons that are supplied in the kit?
  2. Really stunning job. The weathering is in that sweet spot where it compliments the model rather than taking centre stage.
  3. I'm looking to pick up a Trumpeter Mig-23MLD: I Know the Trumpeter Mig-23 kits have issues but with the different variants I was confused which ones were definitely applicable to this kit? And what aftermarket was available to correct said issue? I am prepared to let things slide on artistic merit or if it's going to take more time than it's worth to correct. In saying that having a good idea of what is and isn't structurally correct is extremely helpful.
  4. Just doing my good citizen of Britmodeller bit. Hannants have now put their Kitty Hawk Models stuff back up for purchase.
  5. Funnily enough yesteday I ordered a Kitty Hawk Sukhoi Su-17 M3/M4 and about ten minutes later that news broke 😕 Are there any KH kits anyone would recommend picking up whilst it's still possible to get hold of them?
  6. Well one thing I did do just as I got back into scale modelling was buy a 6ft display cabinet. It has models in it already!...well models still in their kit boxes - still the box art is nice 😄
  7. Will be interesting to see how this turns out. I think mine is being delivered today.
  8. Personally I don't mind if colours are not 100% perfect infact I've never really found a range that is. I like the Real Colors as they're lovely to spray and cover really nicely. I don't know if any amendments were made to the British section of the AK Real Colors of WWII Armor book as there is a 2nd edition out now which is the copy I have. I know it has an additional 28 pages and amendments were made.
  9. Strangely enough I was toying with the idea of a two tone camouflage scheme on either a T-34 or KV-1 yesterday myself. I was reading through the AK Real Colors of WWII Armor book and there were a couple of photos one of a T-34 the other a KV-1 in the field using the AK Real Color Sand 7k colour along with 4BO. I thought it would make a nice change to the 4BO only standard scheme. Be interesting to see your end result 🙂
  10. I do have some of the Ammo by Mig Ultra Glue for PE parts but I find it isn't really strong enough if you require an instantaneous bond.
  11. Hi Jeff, I have been taking photos of my current build which is a 1/35 Jagdpanther. I could perhaps start a blog using some of the photos already taken and carrying it on from there. I do plan on recording my builds as I know I've found other build threads and video tutorials really helpful. They can also be costly as you inevitably end up seeing a kit or product you like and it ends up in your shopping basket 😅
  12. Hi, Jon I actually have a Trumpeter Large Photo Etch Bender that I do use but for small parts things like clasps you need to make multiple bends on very small parts. I think it's also a case of practice makes perfect. It might sound daft but whats your method for applying superglue to very small PE parts? I've seen people using homemade superglue applicators from sewing needles I think I'm going to try that.
  13. Yes PE can also be a pain in the backside! I have just managed to order some Tamiya mini photo etch pliers which I hope will solve some of my problems. In terms of ships I haven't given it too much thought considering most of my attention does go towards AFV's and aircraft kits but if I was to do some ships it would be some of the WWII based stuff.
  14. Yep brilliant job. I've always had a preference for the P-51B variant. In terms of getting a straight edge for the canopy I'm sure a mask set will probably exist that you could use. That would be the fail safe option. Liquid mask, masking tape and or putty are options.
  15. I quite fancy doing some ships myself at some point. Nothing with any rigging though! I'm a Man Utd fan. I think this season has been in terms of the quality of football the best since Fergie retired. We were quite a hard watch for a few years under Moyes, Van Gaal and Mourinho. I think I started around 95/96 it was with the Airfix and Revell kits that come with a brush and little pots of paint. Many aircraft kits followed on from those and at one point I think I had maybe 70-80 kits jammed in my bedroom (hanging from the ceiling, on shelves, in boxes). I'm doing an Eduard Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 for my first aircraft build. Just about to start it actually.
  16. I've been a modeller for nearly twenty-five years now. I started as a child with a craze for building model aircraft kits. In my late teens I switched my attention over to tabletop wargaming with the occasional scale modelling project here and there. In recent months I have switched back to scale modelling mainly focussing on AFV's and Aircraft kits. I've got a nice stash of kits I need to now get cracking on - I have nearly completed my first kit which is a Rye Field Model Jagdpanther G2. I'm looking forward to chatting to fellow modellers, having a great resource for bits of advice and to be able to follow builds that other modellers are doing for inspiration 🙂
