  1. Wow, you guys are so kind! Nice to meet you all! @Corsairfoxfouruncle you and I sound like we build the same. I always try and force myself to fo some WW1 stuff buttttttt I just can't do it. @OutcastJoel thanks for the kind words. It legit brought a smile to my face. @ArnoldAmbrose it has improved immeasurably so thank you so much!
  2. Final update for the day. The decals have been...bad. Just like I had one canopy, I had one set of decals between 2 aircraft. Luckily I got a partially complete newer Gnat set on eBay today so I have some decals to finish the Red Arrows one. I wonder if the new canopy will fit on the old model set too - as I will have oe of those too? Either way, calling the Yellowjack done (might do some washes but the panel lines are....eh). I'll do some pictures of it when I do the final completed RFI. This will include the Hawk that, as you can see, is assembled but not yet painted, and the Red Arrows Gnat (which tbh will only take a little whilst once I get the relevent clear parts and decals). Also, I used a pilot from the recent set and forced it in... I'm realising why these old kits sell for next to nothing these days - this tooling is just...unpleasant haha. But hey! Oh, and the Red Arrows decals ripped all the time. And I lost one of the tricolor from the Yellowjack haha! My bad!
  3. Count me in - I've ordered a Matchbox F-16, so as long as it arrives I'm sorted!
  4. I'd love to join this - I'm not sure of my subject yet, but I'm aiming to build all of the aircraft used by Patrouille de France anyway, so I could just do one of these as part of the build! As part of that I've got 3 of the "100 years of Dassault" set by Heller sat in a box doing sweet FA so, I guess I'm building something for this! I'll decide a topic later but I'm def in for this!
  5. Well, to be honest you'd be ok with the Red Arrows re-issue too! Anything from this tooling onwards is fine. There's the Red Arrows, standard, and Yellowjacks one. There's also a few other manufacturers who do them (such as special hobby) but my understanding is they're pretty good? But I've never touched them. I have a rather big leap forward in what I've done today! Streamed here for anyone interested
  6. Following on from completing a Yellowjacks Gnat and a Red Arrows Hawk (in the Best of British set) I decided to revist the old Airfix kits via a collection I remember having as a teenager (well, I was just about a teenager). This set contain the old Gnat tooling and the previous Hawk. The Gnat was, by far, one of the worst kits I remember putting together...and oh boy I wasn't really dissapointed. It's....it's awful. The new tooling was such a delight to put together that I had a massive culture shock working on these. One of the gnats is missing a canopy. I cannot stress how much this has made me laugh / be annoyed haha. As I streamed making this, and I'll do the rest of it tomorrow (hopefully I'll even get decals done tomorrow) the pictures after the first one will be from the stream - so excuse thatthey aren't as high quality as they're just stills from it! Where it left off Me, realising there is a canopy missing from one of the Gnat kits! The Pilot - literally looks like he was melted. Poor person! This kit had a lot of "oh screw it" moments because I realised how poor quality it was compared to the new one. And in true me fashion, I lost a part so I had to re-scuplt it. This was me doing it in progress.
  7. These actually come with the kit (I know right?). They're releasing them as separate kits Winter 2021.
  8. Beautiful. I saved an open tab on my phone last night to remind me to respond to this when I was next in bed. As others have said the Paint scheme takes this aircraft from "good" to "stunning." It also helps show the similarities with the J-20.
  9. But then you need another Airfix to do it gear up and down 😆😅
  10. But now you can do Air France and BA. So it was clearly a tactical purchase haha
  11. Hello there! Thought I'd actually introduce myself properly. I used to be really involved in my local model club, then drama happened, and I decided to carry on but just on my own. I then ended up having to move house rather suddenly (due to a really bad living situation) and left the majority of my model kits, my airbrush, compressor ...everything. I have a few of my rarer models that I'll be making...but sadly some super rare kits were left...forever. I decided to come back after my friend was reading my Alpa Jet review on my website... an aircraft that was a passion of mine, so I decided to return - and did so with my Gnat and now my Best of British set which are in RFI. To try and do something different I decided to stream my building on Twitch - which I'll be doing on weekends mainly (follow here) I just thought I'd properly say hi and say I'm thrilled to be back doing something I love so much!
  12. I feel the best we speak of the yellow the better beaut! I'm already getting flashbacks to painting the Spitfire cone (which I nicked from my Gnat kit) and my god it was so gross. Shakes in fear of yellow hand painting. Thank you though! Weirdly, the red worked great! But I'll go back to my Aqua Colours going forward!
  13. This was the first kit I got when looking to return to modelling (but not the first completed). As a result of this I made a unique proposition to myself...it comes with paints and brushes...so I would only complete it with what came in the kit. The exceptions to this was I bought spray gloss (Humbrol), Clearfix, and Decalfix. I did this to try and save money, but also to review it more as a 'includes everything you need kit." It's something I thought about doing for a long time and finally did it! As usual you can see my full review over here. I actually started this before my Gnat which I finished in Yellowjacks (seen here). However, I didn't finish it until after. But I finished this afterwards because I ended up doing my Gnat in almost one sitting haha. The kits were pretty decent and I absolutely LOVE the stands. I really wish they'd include these style stands in more kits as I love making them gear up and ready to go sometimes - especially display schemes!
  14. I'm still trying to correct myself that these aren't just screenshot from DCS....as these are stunning 😍
  15. That Argentinian scheme is BOLD. Like, I have seen carnivals with more subtly. Obviously that means I absolutely adore it. You did a cracking job bringing it alive too! The Dutch one is also really well.presented. I've always loved the insignia they used. It really pops here! Well done. A dashing double!
  16. I dont want to quote reply everyone again, as I'm just getting ready for work, but wanted to say thanks again! I've had the older Gnat kits arrived and....oh dear the difference. So that'll he my weekend project!
  17. The first photo especially looks amazing. Overall you've done a smashing job here. It is also always nice seeing international users of the Hunter.
  18. I've been a massive fan of Heller for a long time. When I was in France for one of the only holidays we had as kids, I begged my parents for a Patrouille de France set after by sheer luck they flew a display at the beach we were staying near. So I've always had a soft spot for Heller. As others have said their focus on rarer and French topics has been a great addition to the global modelling community. Long live Heller eh?
  19. One of the best examples I've seen of this aircraft. Amazing effort!
  20. I'm ALWAYS a fan of this aircraft. It's a stunning aircraft, and I have a very strong emotional ties to this aircraft (read here if curious) . I've never done the Italeri kit but my understanding is it is better than the Airfix one? Either way. you have done a cracking job on this tri-engine beauty! I love the all grey front too - I was never sure if I could make it work, but you have! It really throws that 30s vibe out there!
  21. I did not know this colour scheme existed! I love it! It's one of the best 'camo' schemes on an F-16 imo! I don't know F-16s enough to know details about the accuracy, but you've done a great job on the colour reproduction. The weathering is very realistic too which I think is an achievement given the black and white - which can be hard to balance!
  22. Looks very good! Impressive as I remember the Typhoon being....well, not the best kit in the world! These look fantastic!
  23. Please do not take this comment as me being patronising, because I mean it very genuinely - this is so freaking cute! I love this scheme!
  24. This aircraft is wild and I use to love flying it in IL2 1946. So I look forward to seeing this lift off to completion!
