Thanks guys! Did a couple modifications on the kit to make the parts a little more 3D-looking than just flat representations.
Turn-and-bank indicator mod:
Ammunition rounds counter mod
Gyro Horizon mod. Went for the early gyro horizon with a curved plate instead of a ball..
Pretty much like the one shown here
I notice it still looks somewhat like a ball because of the shadows thrown by the round opening.
Propeller adjustment levers mod -- curved plasticard to push against the lever as it swings on the pivot and to provide some friction.
Just a few more minor parts to glue on, horizon markings to make and on to some weathering.
My first build on here : )
Some interesting parts..
This was the first release with vinyl instrument faces. The re-release had decals and the "Draht" on the bank indicator corrected to "Dreht"
Thank you for welcoming me, guys! I knew your names sounded familiar, haha. And great to see someone from my neck of the woods -- a fellow Ontarian : ) Trying to figure out what to start building -- it took great courage to slice through the plastic wrap of that BF-110 box. I'm always torn between building the stash versus preserving them sealed : )
Hello, I got my membership approval, thanks! I've been ogling and learning from the various wonderful builds here for a long time. Hoping to start some projects myself soon -- but pray that I finish : ) I love jazz and models, so most of the time the sounds of comping and a blaring trumpet plays in the background while I build. I like anything that flies, except for the dishes whenever the wife catches me sneaking in another kit.
Testing out how to post images here for now:
