  1. Beautifully done, really top job. Your finish is smooth as butter on all of them. Top result! Paul
  2. You can definitely see the improvement of the oils and ability to blend… I also just got some da Vinci brush’s (I can recommend their brush soap too) I haven’t had a chance to use them yet… I just ogle them in their plastic cases! They look look amazing. Really tight point with long bristles and still enough belly to deliver paint. Good luck with the rest, I admire you ambition with sculpting your own, I’ll stay tuned. Paul
  3. Excellent… I’ll defo be taking a look. Very interested to see how you do them.
  4. Fantastic collection of models for one year! Very very nice paint work and finish on all your models particularity like the spitfire and it’s weathering…. Also pretty damm good tree too! All the best, Paul
  5. Love the year book! Total britmodeller highlight for me. I am extremely nerdy and put my annual build schedule into an excel master sheet along with approx size, type, titles, scale, idea/concept and length of time to complete. (Perks of a dull office job) I juggle these around the group builds that I have signed up to and have enough through til end of 2025! That’s as far as I allow myself to go in advance. In 2023 I hit all my scheduled builds… so The neurotic geek in me is very satisfied! First up I finished the second part of my two part 1/35 diorama “love thy neighbour”. I finished the American part of the neighbourhood: set near Aachen Germany in Oct 1944; For this I got the “peoples choice” trophy at the Ipms Ireland show (my first proper show). Then I finished my 1/35 “the lightening war”, Belgium, 1940: this I did the leichter 221 for the armoured car group build: link to the wip here: Then I did a 1/10 bust of a English medievel Billman, this was a bit of a change for me so a test bed and have more planned for this year to come: rfi linked below: Finished product: Then back to dioramas and afvs, I did a 1/35 Jagdpanzer iv in Normandy and called this “A snake in the bocage”: rfi below: Then I did two builds as a part of the Entrophy group build: first up a amour-gedden-franken-Gepard: A 1/35 post apocalyptic diorama I called “Accretion disk”: it’s a bit of kit bash and scratch build from a junked kit. Here’s the link to the wip: I then moved onto the second part of the group build my 1/48 diorama “the hammer and sickle” a first in this scale: Still working away on my crusader, dingo and p40 for the “I feel deserted group build” another 1/48 diorama called “wondering into the blue”. I hope to have more done before the end of 2023. Next year I hope to start with a 1/35 diorama called “bunker bustin” with a m3 scout car, another willys jeep and a motor cycle. Then a tiger 1 and king tiger. Then some more busts and nepolenic 75mm figures. A panther. A 1/48 Stuka and then a diorama set in 1945 Berlin called “the zoo” and another diorama set in Kharkov in 1943…. So fairly busy! All the best and merry Xmas to you all! Paul
  6. Lovely figure work here! Very well executed. I know what you mean about putting on one brush stroke and being happy with it and then literally putting one more and thinking it ruined. Paul
  7. Nice one Craig, now I know what that is! I might cut the top part off of it to put it right. Thanks for the heads up on it. Paul
  8. She ain’t flyin yet but she is getting their! Sitting on bare foam and cardboard lined base. I needed her built so I could start the base, as I wanted to get the das clay on top of the foam and then make the ruts in the sand which the wheels would have made and das takes a long while to dry so… If anyone spots any obvious errors … please shout now as next stages I’ll add pre shading and base coats. I did, against better judgement, add the small bits like machine guns, gun sights and the fork like aerial on the left hand side wing etc. I was planning to leave these off til painted (in case of clumsy manoeuvres knocked them off) but my impatience got the better of me. While the oil paint was drying on my crusader I started the the diorama: Like I said above I added lumpy bumpy das in a thin layer over the foam and used pva in generous qty to wet it and get it malleable. Then added small stones and sand. Then I spray painted black ( note darker areas) then spray painted yellow over the top. Below I started to add some variety of textures and colours with even more stones, sands and pigments. I’m using mig ammo sand from the pic to added on more of a desert appearance; Once dry I added an oil wash of burnt umber to the recesses, tracks and ruts. Looks like giant smilie face. Then I added various static grasses: 2mm, 4mm and a touch of 6mm in patches. Some burnt coloured/wild type and some summer green. Then I added some plumbers hemp as long straw like dried grasses. I like the hemp as it’s finer than paint brush bristles and more natural coloured. I take a pair of scissors and snip the ends to make uneven: I also spray painted some jute twine brown. I then cut long strands of burnt clump grass from this twine. I use my blade to cut random lumps out of it and splay, this then results in a nice mixture of dark brown and ochre coloured desert grass in one bunch: this is what it looks like once distressed and in place: In the end I added some dried Greek basil (has a tight forming foilage which is small enough to use in models) to make a tree. I also used one bunch to dip into pva and then dipped into green stuff world fine green foliage to make a bush: the end result including tree and bush is below: The dark brown dead tree in the middle is a thyme stalk. I added the titles and surrounded with oil washes and mig desert sand (2xthick layers). I wanted it to look like the note and titles/map had been buried by the sand. Even with the generous extension I won’t be able to finish so I’m just focusing on the base and afvs. Hope to post these atleast to gallery around the end of this week. I still have the p40 and a couple figures til I finish fully. But has been a blast getting to do a difference environment. Thanks all, Paul
  9. Some real gems their! what an output! Paul
  10. I hadn’t seen the scimitar before, great job. Also the exposed inwards of the Sherman is terrific! Great work for 2023 keef!
  11. I’m wondering if your gallery had an end!! Just sublime, seriously dude what an output!!! I can see why you coined the phrase “build ‘em all”. Especially like the two at the end the b17 and tempest very beautifully executed. Do you have a favourite from this year? Paul
  12. Thanks all, really appreciate your kind comment: @Stef N. @Bullbasket @Keeff @Model Mate @Tim R-T-C
  13. Thanks Bertie! It’s funny we were chatting about this one about a year ago and we joked then that I need to go a month without eating or sleeping to get the two builds finished in time before the gb ended! The brutalist soviet architecture was based upon my work buildings!😆
  14. Outlasting job again on what I imagine to be a fairly tricky kit. Nice one for hand painting the camo too.
  15. Love this very very nice indeed! Like the weathering and little extras added. Paul
  16. I’d be up for that! Did you sign up to back in the saddles proposal for mini dioramas Mark? Thought you might be interested in that one too?
  17. This one is now done: I finished with the rubble painted and broken up bricks added: I'll pop the RFI link below: Its over in the Diorama RFI section. Thanks all for very very enjoyable GB. All the best, Paul
  18. Hi all, I was working on this one in the entropy group build but didn't get it finished in time to post to the gallery their. I started around August and have worked on an off with it since, with other projects in between. I loved making it. Its all scratch built including the KV turrets, crane and boiler thingy. The kits I did use where the hobbyboss 1/48 KV2, the figures are tamiya and the oil drums are resin ones from ebay. If your interested the WIP thread is here: The finished product: Thanks for looking in, All feedback and comments welcome. All the best, Paul
  19. Er yes, yes please…. Massive yes!!! Defo my kinda thing and great great company already signed up too!!! Ex-entrophist here as well. Paul
  20. Lovely crisp and clean work their Craig. Coming along and looking good! Paul
  21. Beautifully done. Really excellent had a look through the whole thread and was interesting to see. I know you mentioned it much earlier but good to know about the ak chipping fluid. I’m using hairspray for his technique and wondered weather the pro stuff was worth a go but seems like I’m better sticking with the usual hairspray. Your kubelwagan, diorama and 109 all look most excellent! Paul
  22. Just caught up this and will follow along. The firefly has started to grow on me with its massive barrel. Now this looks like a good kit, the small details of having spare/extra nuts on the sprue is pretty handy. Good luck with the model shop… stay strong!! Paul
  23. That’s a fantastic paint job there Craig. I really like the panel shading effect you’ve achieved.
