  1. Hi everybody, This is what I have achieved with some unorthodox and hair raising methods. First, I sanded down the protruding and curious seam on the outer edge of the rim part. This brought its diameter closer to the tire's gap. Then I carefully widened just a bit with Dremel the gap of the tire and checked constantly that I didn't sand too much. Well, after these measures the outer rim part sits nicely in the tire. I'm surprised and relieved. I just wonder why Heller haven't corrected this obvious error! Cheers, Einar In the right hand wheel you can see the erroneous rim attachment. On the left there is the outcome after I had sanded down the rim part and widened the tire gap.
  2. Thank you very much for your idea..and the former 3d printing suggestions. Einar
  3. The rim IMHO is correct in size but the hole of the tire is too narrow. I try to widen the edge of the tires so that the rim fits it properly. Einar
  4. Thanks Vesa, I have figure out how to remedy the problem. Einar
  5. Hi, I have a question concerning Heller's Mercedes 500k kit and the fit of the wheels' outer spoke rims. In my opinion they don't fit correctly to the tires. In the enclosed pictures there is a close-up of a real car's wheel where the rim is almost flush with the tire. In the other picture Heller kit's rim curiously protrudes from the tire part. Am I right in claiming that the rim of the kit does not correctly insert into the tire? And in case I'm right should I enlarge the hole of the tires and how? On the other hand the diameter of the rim part is very difficult to be sanded down to make it narrower. I'm looking forward to your comments Cheers Einar The real car's front wheel where the spoke rim is flush with the tire A picture of the assembled kit where the spoke rim curiously protrudes
  6. Thank you very much for your advice👍 Einar
  7. Well, they are vinyl. I should then find a paint that will stick to vinyl😱 Thanks for your answer! Einar
  8. Thanks for the advice and the pictures! Cheers Einar
  9. Thank you very much! That's a very good idea. Einar
  10. Hi, I have recently ordered the Heller 1:24 scale Mercedes Benz 500K. The car is very elegant but for some reason Heller haven't included white wall parts to the tires. I just wonder how to add them. Are there possibly white wall decals on the aftermarket or should I somehow try to paint them accurately on the tire walls? Your ideas are more than welcome! Cheers Einar
  11. Sorry Greg! My mistake☹️ It won't be repeated Einar
  12. Hi Adam Thank you very much for your message and your help. This helps me a lot! Cheers Einar
  13. Hi, I recently bought Airfix's mighty Avro Vulcan in 1:72 scale. The boxing is a special issue of the restored Vulcan XH-558. My question is about the dark sea grey BS 638 that the istructions give for the grey camo colour. In the pictures that I found on the net of the real XH-558 the grey doesn't seem as dark as the shade BS 638. Am I totally wrong? What would be the best paint for the Vulcan in my fellow colleagues opinion? Einar
  14. Hi Noel, Thank you for your positive comments and you're quite right. The rear window bullet holes must be a joke🤣 Let's hope that more pre war classics will be launched to the market. Cheers Einar
  15. Hi Pete, I well remember Elliot Ness, the gangbuster. I read the book "The intouchables" and followed a tv series in Finland by that same name in the 1960's. At the time of Al Capone and the gangs in the 1930's both cops and gangsters were really trigger happy. For instance, the car of Bonnie and Clyde was ambushed and shot to pieces by the police. About 140 bullet holes were found in the car wreck😱 Einar
  16. Thank you Alpha Delta! You must be right. The cops have caught the gang and the loot 🙂 Einar
  17. Thanks Pete! Well. this kit wasn't cheap either but I wanted to build it for old times' sake😄 Einar
  18. This is my latest build. The '32 Chrysler Imperial Convertible Coupé with a rumble seat. This 1960's gangbuster (or gangster?) kit in 1/25 scale has some time ago been re-released by MPC. I remember that as a kid I had another limousine kit of the same gangbuster theme. The kit was easy to build even if there was a lot of flash and many seam lines to be sanded down. Some smaller parts like door handles were quite difficult to be cut of the tree in one piece. The instructions were of the old type where each part and assembly step was clearly indicated in written text. The parts went more or less fine together. As to the painting of the car the kit had no indications. I searched pictures of the car on the net and I found a number of different colors and schemes, including the one I chose. After having primed the car with grey Tamiya fine surface primer I painted the interior surfaces dark brown, the body ivory light and the wheel spokes and the fenders dark red. For the colours I used several Maston, Belton and Molotow sprays. I finished by spraying Tamiya clear gloss varnish on the ivory and dark red areas. The chrome lines on the walls of the body are Fantasy Printshop's 1 mm vinyl stripes. On top of the very elegant vehicle the kit contains a lot of extra stuff. The New Baltimore Bank's opened safe, a case of jewels, a suitcase full of greenback dollars, a tommy gun, a rifle with scope and a revolver. The kit also contains two good (or bad) guy figures and a police motor cycle. I didn't builth them at this stage. The front grille, the windshield and the rear window can be built intact or bullet riddled. The convertible roof can be built open or down. All in all, the kit was a real pleasure to build! Bullet riddled front grille The convertible roof is up and the rear window is bullet riddled The additional gangbuster items excluding the police motor bike and the two guys
  19. You're quite right. It had already arrived in Finland on February, 19 but since it came from outside the EU it had to be declared in the customs. Quite a nitty gritty for such a small piece of plastic!! Well, after I consulted them, it was cleared without a customs duty🙈🤣. Mission accomplished😄👍 Thank you for your cooperation🙏 Einar
  20. Hi Michael, The left hand drive part arrived yesterday. It fits the model very well. On behalf of my friend, thank you very much for your help and good spring to you! Einar
  21. Thank you Michael! That's excellent news. I was afraid that you didn't get the address before the message was deleted by the moderator. It's nice to hear that you liked Finland ! Best regards, Einar
  22. Hello again Michael! My friend is very grateful to you for your help! He would like to buy the black dashboard part from you. How should we organize the payment and the mailing of the part? If you use Paypal the money can transferred to you easily. How much will you charge for the part and how much would the postage cost? I look forward to your comments Einar
