  1. Thanks very much, chaps. I'm grateful for your kind words. ๐Ÿ‘
  2. To be honest, five-time world champion Mick Doohan was so good he made the racing a bit boring during his reign. I think that I only appreciated him after he'd retired (injury induced). I used a Scale Motorsport PE set along with various Top Studio bits on this. I mostly used the original decals but also some of a limited SK decals release that I was fortunate enough to buy. The orange of the decals isn't an exact match. I shied away from spraying it myself as I thought that whichever way I went - orange on blue/green or blue/green on orange - would deliver dodgy colours. The original decals took that issue out of the way for me.
  3. Showing respect to Mike "the bike" with a lovely example there. ๐Ÿ‘ His victorious return to the TT after years away from bike racing was one of the greatest comebacks ever seen. Twas the reason Ducati produced this bike, I do believe.
  4. Certainly a well told tale of the challenges we face when doing this - which are even more plentiful when rebuilding someone else's work! Top marks for dedication to the thread and the Williams. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  5. Never mind the build, even the paint pots are meticulously spotless! How does he do it? ๐Ÿ˜„
  6. Definitely still going. Releases due this month.
  7. Rewatched Father Ted recently so this came straight to mind. ๐Ÿ˜„
  8. Sorry for the late reply. Cheers. ๐Ÿ‘ Your story really shows what a man of the people he was.
  9. Cheers. I suppose the 1/9 could go in another location? Chance to spread the flock? ๐Ÿ˜‰
  10. Did you pick up any tips from Webster? Hold on when the going (marriage) gets tough? ๐Ÿ˜„ Dad did secure a few podiums with the solos. I can still recall the trinkets being stashed away. They would range from full blown 'spirit of ecstasy' style trophies, to engraved ashtrays! A very tenuous sidecar link: my older brother bought a set of Darren Dixon's old leathers from him. He was unsuccessful when trying to convince the medical staff not to cut them off him following an accident (only collarbone, as I recall). ๐Ÿคญ
  11. Cheers, mate. Dad only managed one win, and that was in his days as a sidecar passenger. Here he is on the old outfit. The canvas boots really stick out today! (that's the driver's Zephyr* in the background) *don't crucify me if it's a Zodiac Thanks, Keith. Kudos on getting it done to the wife's satisfaction!
  12. A couple of spots of polish under the Suzuki decal here. Last minute dealing with the fingerprints but left an even more noticeable blemish! The decal sheet came with a dirty great scratch from the factory (coating applied after). I used the affected decals on this side, so some have a noticeable join. What a palaver! I know that some relish and take pride in taking on old kits and their deficiencies, but I'm pining for the next Tamiya! If anyone has built this or the original Matchbox, well done. Bazza's second World Championship winning bike. Unfortunately, neither he nor Suzuki could deal with the incoming 'King' Kenny the following year, so 77 was his final reign as champion. I was too young to see Barry race bikes competitively but did see him a few times truck racing. My dad was a club racer and has a claim to fame of being on track with Sheene at Brands. "He came past me at some speed. He had a really fast bike!" Yes, dad. That would've been why. An inspiration to none other than Valentino Rossi his achievements still resonate with bikers today. I wonder how many still come out with, "Who do you think you are, Barry Sheene?", when addressing a 'spirited' rider?
  13. Nice to see one of Spencer's. ๐Ÿ‘ And we've all been bitten by the blasted bleed-through.
  14. Studio27 Out this month. Any good? https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/11029910
  15. Bloody hell! That's astonishing! Ridiculously good! Bravo.
  16. Clearly a lot of work has gone into that. Great job. ๐Ÿ‘ (I can only see two of the pics)
  17. Found these on Yahoo Auctions Japan. https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/u1103373795?lang=en&rc=yaucc https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/1103437380?lang=en&rc=yaucc Might just be duplicates of the stock decals though?
  18. Nice to see your bikes here, and in big scales too. Well done. ๐Ÿ‘
  19. It's an acquired taste! I don't think that I liked it much at the time (2003) but it has definitely grown on me as when I see it in the cabinet today I'm more appreciative of the 'hippy' styling. Not sure how I would have fared in the 'flower power' era!
