  1. The Airfix MRCA is always on eBay and you'll get one for next to nothing - I did.
  2. Big butterfly wing is i say so myself!
  3. I know you put a lot of effort in this one and its turned out very well. Roll on the Dak..........
  4. I've added the new photos with the decent camera.
  5. For the second night running a F18 has flown over my house, coming from the Andover direction towards Salisbury. Its high enough not to make out country etc....but low enough to see the its an F18; it then returns 30 mins later. Its definately got fuel tanks under the wings. The first day it arrived over Boscombe then went vertical, came back the other way 30 mins later. Any ideas? 2 weeks ago we had 2 x F15 in the BD cirucit and they were looking for stonehenge!!.
  6. This is my take on the A-10. Its a 1/72 Hasegawa kit that i picked up for £10 at the Salisbury show. I knew how i wanted to display it and i think its come out quite nicely. This is my first A-10 that i ever remember making and the kit was fantastic fit. The only critisim of the kit would be that Hasegawa really don't want you to have the canopy shut and the wheels up!!. I intended to have the airbrakes open and they turned out ok. I filled and drilled the gap but on reflection it should have been plasticard - probably a lot easier. The ECM pod came from a weapons kit i got earlier in the year; Hasegawa again. The decals came courtesy of Karl (Dswoofie) and the base was very kindly made by Brian Redpath (MODeller) as I used my last one on the Beagle Bassett. The paints are all Xtracrylics and this is my second attempt at airbrushing. All brushing was done freehand with no bluetack or paper as a mark; just putting the brush on its lowest setting that i was comfortable with and dive in. I used the Xtracrylic Flatt coat ontop of the Halfords lacquer. I used Phills dirty wash, but for some reason it didn't take, so i ended up getting the Tamiya pastels out. I took it too my club meet last night and the only comment was the rod was infront of the lower wing, so i bent it around. I think it actually turned out quite well as i can now display it either way. Sorry about the photos but the good camera wasn't available so here goes....... Honest comments please.....
  7. I think its brilliant, and i'm not normally into the "what if" - well done.
  8. As a new airbrushian, my confidence is growing with every kit. I normaly use Humbrol Matt Aerosol. So tonight mathew i will be airbrushing the Xtracrylic matt stuff. It says to dilute by 15%, anything else i should know?
  9. Wonder if the VAAC is coming back tomorrow. I spoke one of the guys in ATC and he thought the VAAC was flying? (returning)
  10. As Karl's, fantastic. It must be A-10 month.................. as mine will soon be finished.
  11. Looks good mate hope mine turns out that well
  12. I really like it, its looks nice and clean yet dirty!. The only thing i see; i think your airbrakes are too vertical. They should be slightly leaning outwards?. Apart from that great.
  13. Again thanks folks. Not my normal subject but hopefully it will keep the detail police at bay
  14. I hear from a contact that the K's are being given extended life as the J's can't cope with the desert conditions. The blades on the J's are cerceptable to all the crap that thrown up in the dusty/rough environments; where as the older K's are fine? - thats what im told anyway.
  15. Fantastic - dirty wash makes all the difference on the big ones.......
  16. Thanks all. Karl its going to be different..................... But what's this.
  17. Just starting my 1/72 Hasegawa A10. So a couple of questions: 1. On the instructions it depicts 2 A10's. One has a device on the gun barrell, yet i can't find any reference for what it is. The other shows the traditional barrells - any ideas? 2. On the port side, it shows a raised "bit" just level with the cockpit. Its only one one A10 not the other - again no idea what it is? 3. Anybody post a photo of inside the airbrake/ailersons. I have a crap picture which shows them to be bright red - i'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been that colour on an Operational jet. Cheers.
  18. Thanks folkes, you just don't simply see the anymore!. The one at Boscombe is still flying and like the Harvard you know when its in the circuit. I personally hate the ripply colour on it though, it just doesn't look right. I did hear that when it was assessed initially at B-D the props were too big and they strugh the ground under some situations Anyway A10 next...................................
  19. I've got my Hasegawa A10 (1/72). I'm going to do it in the European colours. The destructions say FS36081 (grey), FS34092 (Dark Green), FS34102 (Mid/light green) - where would i get a match for these colours?. I'm new to airbrushing and would like to have a go. Up to now i've used the Xtracrylix stuff and i'm happy with that, also the Humbrol acrylic little plastic square pots. Any help would be appreciated.
  20. Well here's my latest thang. I started this almost immediately after the Vulcan. I bought it about a year ago on ebay and was the sole bidder. It arrived but had one of the main legs missing, so straight away it was going to be in flight. The kit itself was not bad, but you can tell its old. The box art was a blast from the past, as i remember building one a a child. Everything dry fitted ok, until i made the cockpit floor then the two halfs didn't want to know; but some cutting and scraping and ta da. Everything else was fine except one of my windows fell in slightly, so that needed fixing. I attached tape at the wing join so only wiped out one set of rivets when sanding - same for the tailplane. The aircrew were painted in the Orange suites to set them back in time. I removed a row of seats and put in the computer stack. Painted the kit in the traditional scheme that i remember, plus i really don't think the ripple suites it as she is now. The nose probe is a metal rod and i managed to make the vanes from plasticard. I was watching the TEST PILOT video and noticed the whirl effect of the props. So i aquired some laminate from work and chopped off the props from the spinners. Cut out the correct diameter, then sprayed gently both black, then i made a template from paper and stuck it onto the painted laminate and sprayed LAG. This gave me the whirl effect which has worked quite nicely. Only problem was i sprayed too much on the first and you might make out a "splash" of black on one of the "blades". Base was £3 from last years Telford. The decals were terrible, all yellow - so they had a sunbathing session, but when i applied the Bassett specific ones they werent entirely clear, all the other came from aftermarket decal sheets. I'm glad the ways its turned out, and its a tiny model. The white is Halfords fines Appliance white, the grey was airbrushed grey and the red was hand painted.
  21. Karl, I'm soon to do my Hasegawa A-10, so your welcome to the weapons in the box, as mine is going to be pylons only................ with a ECM pod.
