  1. They are in the German colour only with RAF roundels applied. When they arrived the Germans would not let any photos be taken until the cross had been removed. Oh and they never carry fuel tanks.
  2. So based on what you know so far - Italieri or Airfix.....?
  3. Yup, theres a pile of going from the Salisbury bunch.
  4. Going to get myself one of these. I built one ages ago, but i was never happy with it.....
  5. I've got one of these in the stash. Yours looks great. I remember the real thing, and it currently here at the BD museum. Spot on.
  6. I've seen it in the flesh, the photos dont do it justice.......
  7. If thats the blade antenna type thing on the starboard side, then yes its not in the kit. I did notice on but I was too far down the line of painting!!
  8. Morning folks. This my Harrier GR3, done as XZ136. I was going to build it anyway but had no idea of the loadout, which is surprising for me as normally when i start i know what i'm doing. Anyway i remember this one from 86 and at the time it did a little trial on the Phimat flare pod. I had totally forgot about it until somebody posted it on here a few weeks ago and eureka. I made the camera pod from a 1000lb'er with the aid of some filler and plasticard, the Phimat came from the Italieri Jaguar. This must be my 6/7 model airbrushed and i feel really comfortable now. The camoflague is done by hand with no blue tack or anything and im quite pleased with the result. Only thing im annoyed with the the vane that sits infront of the canopy. This got blown away by the airbrush!! into the carpet of doom, but it looked very odd anyway. The intake guards are filled with Plasticard then topped up with filler to give the impression of the cushion plugs they use. The kit roundels were terrible, with a white line around some of the edge, so i had to dive into the spares box. Belts and RBF tags are from Tamiya tape. The A on the fin is to depict a A Sqn machine. This was made from the kit decals where was CV so i upturned the V and used its smaller version cut it to get the crossbar of the A. Weathering is with the Tamiya sticks. My thanks to Richard E for the fuel tanks. Comments as usual.
  9. This kit has the 2 aircraft on the box art. Both displaying ordanance (which you dont get) and the colours are very dark brown/green. All the decals are from the spares box and the lettering is from an Xtradecal sheet. Dam forgot to get the paint numbers - will post later......
  10. What a brilliant subject to model.
  11. It was a Humbrol brown & Israeli green (i'll get the numbers later), but it turned out ok.
  12. Been busy lately. I got this kit for £5 at a show. I beleive its one of the early ones?. The kit was a dream to put together, with very little filler anywhere. I completed this in a week. I decided to do it as the black one, and as usual airliners.net was the main reference source. This jet is currently hanging from the ceiling at Hendon. The reason it was painted black was so that all the pressure sensors could be blended it, as they would have stood out like a sore thumb against a grey background. I've sprayed the model, but hand painted the sensors and its given it a good accuracy on the method used. I know its inaccurate in that everything is out - but it looks good either way.
  13. Here's my take on the Special Hobby offering. I bought the kit last year at Nationals. I remember this one flying around whilst i should have been studying at school. The kit is "different" and it has a low quality feel to it, yet it comes with etched everything!!. The kit went together well although i did have 2 reviews as research, so my build was lessons learnt from others. In the end all the etched detail has disappeared. I did put a tone of weight in the nose and it still sits on its bottom , so i've got some thinish rod and drilled a hole. It quite nicely disappears around the legs of the undercarriage. All in all i'm glad i've done one, but i wont be buying another.................! Sorry about the photo's, must learn how to do it properly one day!
  14. Lovely build. I couldn't find a 1/72 anywhere, so i picked up the 48 + decals at the Farnborough show. Funny as your the 3rd person i know doing this now......?
  15. That'll do nicely - TVM
  16. Can somebody post a photo of the inside of a Typhoon airbrake, plus the airframe that the open airbrake reveals when open. Cheers.
  17. I always paint the stores, then scrape a 1mm(ish) wide line and a dolope (more controlled than that word suggests!!) of superglue. No problems so far......
  18. Excellent, especially as i know you put a lot of work in this one.
  19. Lovely, nicely weighted wheels too
  20. I've got one aswell; given to me by Paul the decal chap. I did a search on the internerd and found a site on the BB. Contacted them and they were getting back to me with info, as i too wanted to do the A&AEE version. After my last escapde of cut & shut on the comet i'd rather have another kit to bastardise, but there on ebay at silly money from the US. Do a google and you'll find the site.....
  21. First one i've seen not in a book. I was at Wyton in 1987, but suppose you'd have moved on by then? - my first posting.
  22. Guys i just want advice on what colour to paint: 1. Harrier (1/48 Revell) as a GR 7/9 for RAF colours. Ive done some searching and DSG for upper and MSG for lower, won't they be too dark? 2. Typhoon (1/72 Revell) the instructions quote Revell aqua pots - LAG 371 & Grey 374 with a mixture of white 3. Phantom (RN Version) Is it really Extra DSG surely this is too dark?, would DSG be enough?. Might pop to Hendon tomorrow as i'm a fan of the Xtracrylix, & Revell Aqua pots. Any info would be nice......
