  1. Unless things changed towards the end of each of the aircraft service lives I’ve never seen an F-1CR or M2KN wear any other colour on their undersides rather than Flat Aluminium(FS37178).
  2. It’s Flat Aluminium FS37178. It’s actually a French colour so not FS but for modelling purposes it’s the closest you’ll get.
  3. Fairly sure the wings can be folded with any cleared ordnance inc Martel and Sea Eagle so 1000lbrs shouldn’t be an issue.
  4. The Red band would have indicated incendiary ammunition or indicates the presence of highly flammable material. Which was used on Torry Canyon in order to try and ignite the oil.
  5. If the M109 can be carried I see no reason why a smaller and lighter Warrior AFV can’t,
  6. Both the PW & GE exhausts are ceramic finished from the nozzle down to the burner ring. The closer you get to the burner ring the dirtier it gets and in most cases the ceramic finish disappears under a layer of soot.
  7. Hoping to get the modelling bug back up and running after a couple of years off. Which means I’m needing to replace some building materials and wondering what the masses are using as filler/putty. I was always a Squadron Green man myself and when they changed the consistency I struggled on trying to locate original batches, however it now appears that all Squadron putties are discontinued. I need a filler that actually bites into the styrene and not just sits on top of it. Any suggestions/recommendations?
  8. Both a/c in the picture are AUP standard, the only difference between the two is the DIAS equipped one in the foreground with the fairings that you mention. Both have IFF ‘bird slicers’ and the cockpits are identical. DIAS equipped jets are all in 015** serial range but not all a/c in the range are so equipped, check references to be sure.
  9. F-111 F-14(ok, unknown numbers still flying with IRIAF) F-117(ok it’s only 42yo) SR-71
  10. Surprised no one had mentioned the U2, 68 yrs old.
  11. Still active though. T-2 Buckeye 66yrs on the 31st of January.
  12. Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster still in active service.
  13. Last Cheetahs were retired in 2022 by the Ecuadorean Air Force. The last user of the T-33 was Bolivia, which retired the type in 2017. BAe Hawk, first flight August 1974 so another one celebrating 50yrs this year.
  14. Yes, quite a few Hellenic F-4E’s were painted in the same scheme, although it doesn’t really matter which Squadron’s as the aircraft rotated between 337/338 and 339 Miras and didn’t carry Squadron markings. 337 and 339 were probably the initial recipients as their primary role at the time was Air Interception for which the scheme was devised.
  15. I always found the trick when painting Black aircraft was not to use Black, until the end. Start off with a dark Grey then gradually build up the colour adding drops of Black as you go, until you’ve achieved the desired effect. Im not familiar with the subject that you’re building so if you can provide a photograph or two it will help.
  16. Would depend on actual time frame, as EDSG/ White, overall EDSG, MSG and DSG were all worn on Sea Harriers during 1982.
  17. 01506 was lost Jul ‘74 the other loss I’ve been trying to find out myself for years. I’m guessing you’ve looked at Joe Baughers excellent pages, which have all other HAF a/c accounted for? Both replacements were ordered as new builds from FY 1974 interestingly as the only two F-4’s in that block, and delivered in June 1976. So either dates have been recorded incorrectly or the Greeks simply got a better deal for 2 a/c and thought ahead.
  18. The Hellenic F-4E’s were initially delivered in two batches, Peace Icarus 1 and Peace Icarus 2. All F-4’s in the above two batches were delivered in the SEA scheme, the Aegean Blue was later adopted onto some of the a/c when the Hellenic AF reorganised the Phantom fleet. None of the PI1 a/c were TISEO equipped, whilst all of the PI2 a/c were(with the exception of 71743). Some of the PI1 a/c were DIAS equipped, but none of the PI2 a/c were. Therefore you cannot have TISEO and DAIS on the same a/c. TISEO was removed when a/c went through AUP but DIAS stayed. Peace Icarus 1 a/c are identified by serials 015** Peace Icarus 2 a/c are identified by serials 717** On top of that, 2 a/c were delivered in 1976 to replace crashed examples from the first batch. These had serials 01618 and 01619, these two were delivered in the SEA scheme, never wore Aegean Blue and weren’t equipped with either TISEO or DIAS. The HAF later received a third batch of ex ANG F-4E’s, these were all delivered in Hill Grey colour scheme and some later adopted the Aegean Ghost scheme, but none of these were modified to AUP standard, as they were in very poor condition, these are easily identified but the Black radome tip and USAF style of serial number on tail. Best thing to do, is identify what a/c you want to build and come back to me and I’ll advise further. Scott
  19. Not sure that is the case. The last I heard(a few years ago admittedly), Dimitri moved from St Petersburg to Arizona and continued the business. Not sure if he still resides in Arizona?
  20. That very much looks like the ‘Recce pack’ that’s installed in that picture
  21. Looking at the picture above, we can also assume that the missile rails are painted 36270 as standard, so we can dismiss the overall Grey as being that. The colour of the CAT-M 36375 is close but not quite there in my eyes it has a stronger Blueish hue which has me leaning towards 36373 as the overall colour. What colour do the USAF paint their drop tanks( I know Greece use 36375)?
  22. Hi all, what would be the best Mirage F1 kit in 1/48, in order to back date to a C/CG standard? MIA
  23. Biggest issue will be the wings, the -4EJ had the Hard wing, whilst HAF examples hand the slatted wing. Various antennas on the wing tips and fin need to modified or removed, but the issue with the wings really make it a non starter for HAF example.
  24. I might have that part lying in amongst the spare boxes. Give me a couple of days and i’ll get back to you.
