  1. The first images for Sea King schemes in the planned Xtradecal releases are up. A nice selection but no special Falkland’s SAR scheme. Maybe that’s in a later Airfix boxing? I’m looking forward to the foreign operators schemes :
  2. Nice work indeed. That will look more than fine under a coat of primer. As you said before, the Macro is friends of no one. A bit like salad and the carpet monster for us modellers.
  3. Does @Julienmake that list? If so I’ll warn him to take a bib for you next time he drops in…
  4. I’m pretty sure that Hannants will be punching out a few sets of Decals rapidly keeping my fingers crossed for both the FAA and RAF cabs along with an early Marineflieger MK.41 scheme (I remember having the Dinky Sea King in that scheme as a nipper) and a Norwegian option. Plenty of options for inspiration, especially with the non UK schemes available
  5. Add to that the inefficient design of the Catalina. The wing has no flaps or slats and is optimised for a cruise speed 0f 110kts. Not exactly efficient or likely to get fare paying passengers anywhere fast.
  6. Well, that’s 3 guessed (with one from Zvezda). Now about that new Jag and Scout/Wasp…
  7. Maybe it’s a change of heart in regards to the self imposed restriction on 1:32 scale aircraft? either that or entering Gundam/war gaming etc.
  8. What is the grit sizes you are using? To be polishing a canopy after the rough removal, you will be looking at 1000 as a start then up to about 8000, plenty of water to smooth it out. Then I polish with a little bit of car wax.
  9. That’s what I’m thinking. Unfortunately the order is very much so the 1:48 kit A12014 due in the Autumn. you never know…
  10. Hmmm. According to Jadlam one of the two S.2 RAF I have ordered has been dispatched. I’ve even got tracking details. This should be interesting to see what turns up…
  11. Been using Eset for 10 years plus as well. Really good bit of kit and it doesn't suck the life out of your PC.
  12. Well, yet again I'm behind the curve. A couple of weeks away with work and other weekend commitments have bitten hard. The white base coat is on, should get the red down as well this weekend but I'm not going to make the finish.
  13. Just painted a Draken all white prior to the red bits. Top tip as above is the gunze white primer. I decant it into a dropper bottle, add a bottle of the tamiya gloss white lacquer (to get a semi gloss finish) and then thin down 50/50 with levelling thinners and some tamiya lacquer retarder. First coat is thinned even further, misted on very lightly in order to provide a keying surface. And then further light coats to build up, letting them flash off for a bout 10 - 15 minutes between.
  14. A chilled trip to Temora for the May showcase. Nice and crisp in the morning and blue skies meant the dreaded Aussie heat haze was reduced and manageable as it got towards the afternoon. However it got a bit overcast, and it helped with the sun position, but not for the photography of the flying aircraft. A great collection of aircraft, not particularly busy and a very friendly and laid back show. More will follow as I post process:
  15. By PMing one of us Admins. We are also human and cant mind read as to what post and where
  16. We seem to have an abundance of incoming Draken vids at the moment. A freshly released walkaround vid:
  17. And normal service is resumed whilst someone has some more time on their hands for shall we say further research?
  18. Bizarre? Harrumph, pretty bloody good design in my humble opinion:
  19. Thanks Gents, I really, really hate etched brass belts! Especially with Aires's really, really vague instructions. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Quinta or Kelik to produce a cockpit set. The Hasegawa kit would not need much more than that.
  20. To be honest, having had a look at contemporary images online, there are visibly different widths/diameters and tread patterns in the images I found. There was certainly enough lack of uniformity to make either of your options correct!
