Yes. It is not 100% accurate to the few pictures I could find but it is close enough. Unfortunately life got in the way of this hobby for a couple of years now and this build sits languishing on a shelf at about 90% complete. I hope to finish this and a couple of other big projects up this winter.

Vallejo Rust Stain and Streaking acrylics then flat lacquer to seal them, then hairspray, then salt. The salt of course gives those nice little spots, rough texture and the flaky paint edges and the hairspray the thin paint and transition edges. The different tones also gave a preshading effect like aircraft panel shading. Once base was exposed it received an overall wash of Citadel Earthshade ummmm...shade and thinned rust tones to blend specific areas.

Yes. The Coronet has been in the works for a while but I have misplaced the hood and have to look through a pile of boxes to find it. It wasn't in much better shape body wise than the truck so will be another slightly rough build. I have several kits of cars I used to own to do in the condition they were in back then. Most were moderately beat since my army pay did not permit fancy back then. I am also doing a bunch of cars I would have wanted to own (mostly 1970 MOPARS witch will be done in showroom condition.

This is the model of a an actual truck I bought for for $75 back in '79. Mine was really a '73 but nothing really changed much in the couple of years so the '75 is close enough. It had already seen a hard hard life by the time I bought it from a guy that used it in a lime quarry so the paint was toast and much of the body had rust on the rust although there were very few actual holes. Being a single stage enamel paint job there was almost zero gloss left to it and the once vibrant red was more a really dark pinkish brown. I bought it strictly to drive on those frequent occasions when my '70 Coronet R/T was without an engine because I was rebuilding it yet again or to haul tools and tires to the strip (with a buddy driving it). It was a blast to drive though and soldiered on until I pushed it a bit hard one day after about 6 months and blew the head gasket. Then sold it for $100! The kit shows it's age with a pile of flash and is sort of a mixed bag with a really nice engine, body and drivetrain but an interior that other than the dash is just sort of vaguely interior like. It went together really well though. The main exercise of this project was to get the battered paint and rust just right. I am very happy with the results and it was a ride down nostalgia road through the whole project. The weird interior. Not sure what version had those fancy seats but I wasn't bothered enough to scratch build the vinyl covered park bench that mine had. The engine is a little jewel though!

I do have a very fine chrome marker so that will be an option. Also going t try leaving the sidewall white, paint the body colour and the bare metal foil the trim ring and cap. That method will all depend on how steady my hand is while cutting circles. The lines are well defined though. I shall prevail.

Well now we have some door cards and since in for a penny in for a pound I decided too open up the drivers door. The carpeting in these was either a heavy textured vinyl or a very low pile carpet depending on the options. I went with the low pile carpet. The brown sections were textured using a heavy coat of TET and the stippled with an old stiff brush. hey are brown so they will be a different tone when I spray the interior beige. And here we have the "Realistic rubber tires and hubcaps as proudly proclaimed on the Amazon site! Well worth their price of $78.00. These have t be painted black, white, body colour and two chromes. Not real sure how I will pull that off yet.

Was reading through this and followed the link to the build thread thinking "oh what an interesting subject wonder how I missed this build". Then I saw the dates!

Figure. You mentioned figures. Where are the figures? I need to see figures. I can imagine they are spectacular as the rest!

Could be just doing some Hamlet.

I visited Rare Plane when they were still in Vegas. I however did not show restraint and filled a suitcase! It is a totally amazing place and I hope to visit again if I ever get ot to SoCal again

OK so main parts are pretty much cleaned up and more or less fit together. I am hopeful some glue and gentle persuasion will help but I do see some putty in my future All in all it does look the part. Next up is to remove the B-17 flaps they put on as sun visors and do something about that spectacular detail on the inside of the scale 1 inch think doors.

Oh it will be fine. By the time I am done cutting the flash out I will be able to advertise it as "hand sculpted".

Like usual the pictures don't do it much justice. I really need a better camera! And some photo skills. And maybe a bigger light box.

The F-86 is currently in repair depot after losing a battle with Catzilla. It has a broken off drop tank and a badly cracked canopy with one of the poor ground crew losing both arms an a foot! The other guy is hard at work though. The Follow Me Jeep faired worse though with almost total destruction and the driver decapitated. I really need to fix them some day.

Thanks. After giving it a closer look I hope I haven't bit off more than I can chew. The moulds were not great when they were new and after making around 10 billion of this kit they are pretty tired. Be a nice base if I wanted to do an old rotted out wreck but since my plan has always been to put it with a WW2 aircraft I am afraid it will need to look shiny and new.

Not sure where they found them but my local Dollar Tree store had several dozen of this old man no others just this one. It cost me $1.50 Cdn (Nothing in the dollar store only costs a dollar anymore) so that would be .88Gbp. In hindsight I should have grabbed a bunch but figured I would just need one for a 1/32 aircraft diorama some day. May as well build it now though. It is obviously a new(ish) boxing. Looking it up on Stalemates says 2007. Must have made piles and sold few for it to show up at Dollar Tree! Untouched until today. Just a little room for some scratch build details Would never have figured things out without the detailed instructions And here is why I don't trust Amazon to not rip you off! "Easy to assemble" - Check "Authentic scale model" - Well yes it is sort of Ford shaped if you squint just right "Realistic rubber tires" - Really? Where? "Detailed chassis" - UMMMM....Well... Ahhhhh... "Realistic hubcaps" - They are really grasping at straws here. Wish me luck!

Why yes, yes they do!

Yep. The moulds were from 1966 and it was made in 73 so they were still nice and crisp with no real flash, horrible mould seams or ejector pin marks. The later one I got was a 2001 (or so) run and the millions of kits they made between those years really shows on the newer parts.

I actually bought another of these to do the "Glacier Girl" as found in the ice and was going to pick up an Academy kit to show after restoration. After serious consideration decided it was too much work to try to get the old Monogram one up to detail needed (even after being crushed by ice) and it got regulated to the bottom of the stash. Someday I will come across a sale on the Academy one and pick up a couple so I can do the before and after with the same kit. I would use the Tamiya kit but my first born is far to old to sell to pay for two of them!
