  1. Cheers Harry. Glad you like it Its Los but I'll let you off 😉 Cheers Nenad. I was sceptical at first when I laid down the first camo colour as it looked pretty 'blobby' The scheme layout is inspired by a very well known model of a Sd.Kfz.251 Thank you
  2. Cheers Peter. I cant 100% confirm the answer to that one, and I wasnt 100% sure whether I was going to add it myself. Both period images of the vehicle towing an 88 don't look to have it fitted. Maybe it was found amongst the rescued vehicle debris. In the end I figured why not 🙃
  3. Cheers Francis. If you check out my first post above, due to my Imgur hosted pics now being invisible to UK web hosted visitors I have added a new link of the full build on my blog page. Here you should find more images. I have tried to capture a few decent interior shots but my photobooth set up needs adjusting to best capture them. I will endeavour to update them to the blog
  4. Thank you Stef Thanks Autle Cheers Thanks Echen. I have tried a few but I think you have to pay subs for the better ones Thank you Nemanja. My original intention was to paint it as the the resto vehicle and to add some modern figures but I do have a few WWII figures that might work so will have to wait and see. Thank you Cheers John Thank you Glen Thank you Tahir
  5. Good luck in the competition. It looks the business. I know zero about the vehicle but the paint and weathering looks awesome👌
  6. Mission accomplished. This is Trumpeter's 2011 release of an armoured Sd.Kfz.8 prime mover. Based on a sole surviving late war vehicle and painted in a 'what if' three tone camo scheme. All my originaly posted pics were hosted by Imgur but as we all know now they are no longer visible to UK web hosted folks. So, a full blog with progress pics can be found here: Trumpeter Sd.kfz.8-DB10-gepanzerte-12t.build log
  7. I forgot to post up pics of the completed build. Fitted with the kit's front wheels and tyres.
  8. Hi Steve For some inspiration on painting tracks with acrylics https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fXGHx3yZcU
  9. Just caught up with this fantastic build. Inspiring work Kristjan. 👌
  10. Rubber parts in general can spell trouble. It depends on what manufacturer they are from in my experience. I've rarely used rubber tracks on my builds, but I have used quite a few sets of rubber tyres. I've experienced a few tyres 'melt' the styrene wheels. Italeri and Roden kits were to blame in this instance and neither had been painted. On the other hand, I still have a 15-year-old Trumpeter build, occasionally exposed to sunlight, and the front tyres are absolutely fine. Again, not painted, just weathered with pigments. The only DS tracks I have on a displayed build are from a 2011 Dragon Pz.IV kit and again, weathered in pigments only. They look fine with no deterioration observed. As for painting DS tracks, I have never painted any, only weathered them in pigments. I would NOT advise using enamels on them as they could be too 'hot', but acrylics, oils and pigments should be OK
  11. If I bought a scale model of a Spitfire, I’d at least want it to look like a spitfire! Too much to ask? And here lies the problem with one of the trucks in this boxing. Whilst the Ford and the Opel are fairly decent representations of the real thing the AHN is a complete mess. If you were to compare the finished model to a real AHN truck the cab side profiles are completely innacurate as the fender profiles are mysteriously engineered to house ridiculously undersized wheels, similar to those found on Renault’s baby brother, the AHS. Whilst the kit fits together well and is a pleasurable enough kit to build, it is widely inaccurate in appearance! Which is a shame as this vehicle was a welcome addition to those wishing to build a vehicle that was utilised by German forces in all theatres in WWII. Why ICM choose to ignore the chorus of complaints when the first boxing of this vehicle was released in 2014 and not address the inaccuracy issues over time I cannot say. They did re-release it in 2022 and fans were expecting at least one new re-tooled sprue containing new cab mouldings, and some new wheels and tyres, but all that that was offered was the addition of a new cab roof moulding with a vent in it! Disappointing is an understatement.
  12. Thanks for the advice and your experience Tijuana. I have not tried the Deluxe materials magic glue and I agree, getting more extraction will definately help.
  13. Cheers Keith I have decided to leave the top of the rear lockers as is. I have yet to place a few select bits of crew gear and I will likely end up placing a few items on top of them I'm getting close to the finish line and it’s been a fun project to re-visit. I might yet place it on a simple base as I've got a few that I started without any clear vision of where they were heading. I have also finally tracked down an aftermarket resin copy of the kit’s vinyl tyred DB10 front wheels. I had drawn a blank but a kind fellow on the book of faces pointed out that Panzerart do actual offer some. For some bizarre reason, together with many online retailers, even their own website has them mislabelled as Sd.Kfz.9 wheels! If they don't end up on this version, they will definitely come in handy for Trumpeter's unarmoured DB10. The reason I started this project is I'm unable to actually build any new models at present due to a nasty allergy to pretty much all modelling cements. I haven’t started a new kit since February 2024 when I realised the symptoms were not going away and it was becoming a real health concern. The symptoms persist if I so much as look at a bottle of TET so it's looking unlikely I will be popping open any new kit boxes for the foreseeable future either. 😷 S**t business I know but, mustn't grumble an all that. I'm so fortunate in having quite a pile of shelf queens like this one and with care I can just about manage the odd bit of extremely limited ‘sticking stuff together’, so long as I cross my fingers, mask up, and ensure there is oodles of ventilation. Anyways, enough of my grumblings, let’s get back to what I am able to do. Looking at the pics below I can see I still need to carry out some subtle tweekage and I won’t be able to move on until I do. We are most definitely our own worst critics!
