  1. I am no "tank" expert. I am just building subjects i like the look of. I want to build a Merkava now. not worried about varient because all look cool. My LHS has 3 kits, Academy MKiv LIC , Hobby boss MKiv and a Meng early 3D. out of the 3 which is the better kit fit wise? Had a couple of other 35th Academy stuff and was not impressed, might of been old? Hobby boss i have had several good kits a couple not so good. same with meng,a few crackers and cuople so so, the plastiv varies greatly with meng, the dark plastic is awful. can any one give advice on the 3 kits please? thanks
  2. Never built a ship kit before. So just bought a Tamiya 1/350th POW kits As usual with any kit i do a check of contents against manual. With the POW kits all is there apart from TWEEZERS that is listed up with hull and decals. I am not worried about them being missing,if that is the case even. More curious to know if they was and when it stopped or was they metal even?
  3. Thanks guys, i know its hard to advise as its diwn to preference but when you only have used one prior, what can you do. this as helped lots.
  4. I have been using a H +S CRPLUS which has a 5ml cup. i have had no use of any other size. i now want to get another AB and want to try a different brand (reason at the bottom). I am looking at iwata hi-line series and the cups choice will be 1.5ml or 7ml, so a little bigger OR fair bit smaller. i know a lot of it is down to preference but thats hard in my case. i mainly do 1/35th armour, the odd 1/24th car and plain etc. not sure how much a pain will keep filling be over heavy or bulky cup? any advice would be great the reason for wanting a change, the H+S i chose because the nozzle seemed robust assembling but i have had a couple split,my fault perhaps, needle never shows wear or damage. So always heard iwata is top brand full stop but heard the nozzles are delicate to tighten and if it does snap needs to be returned to fix. i feel confident enough noe not to do that. its just the choice of cup size. might have to move to another model with similar size cup BUT the high line bp ch seems great
  5. I found the same ,like Massimo said. can not tell by the painting guide which of the decal sheets id the required. I will do as suggested, just use any.
  6. The Meng kit say ausf A, late. i picked up type 2 decals, think there was 5 types? Reading the box it looked like any decal sheet could be bought and built to suit. But nowhere in the manual for build OR paint does it say which decal set. on the paint scheme section many are impossible to tell which zimmerit sheet was used. i might be missing something in the manual. i thought any of the decal sheets sps 050 to 055 could be used with the ausf a ,late kit. was displayed together.
  7. I Have just bought the Meng Panther kit and also picked up a sheet of there Zim decals. Ithink there was a choice of 5 or 6 Zim decals sheets, i thought the kit can use any of the sheets, prob wrong? The thing is i can only work out 1 version and the decal choice. The other versions i can not tell, the manual is very bad in that respect. it does not even say "use decal sheet" followed by the number etc As anyone had same issue and worked it out?
  8. How are Hasagawa and Aoshima bike kits compared to Tamiya?

    Fake Iawata`s?

Thanks guys, I was refering to items that were marked Iwata and fake. I have seen the numerous clones at around £12 up,these do not say iwata. I think you can tell if you are buying from a good source, even if not a main dealer or shop. Ebay has loads of H+S being sold as ex demo with no bad feedback at all, just need to be careful and judge by coms with seller. Recently bought a brand new sealed in box Iwata Neo for £35, was for sale for ages, wanted £55 but took £35,private seller.
  10. Looking to buy a iawate HI-LINE HP-CH ,was watching a vid on YT about use etc and the guy said to check for hologram on the box and only buy from proper shop. Not ebay etc. i was looking to buy a good second hand item, can not afford new. Think i would be able to ask enough about and ask for pictures regards condition BUT if fakes are a well known thing i will give a miss. lots on Ebay etc.
  11. Jack , You picked up my first posts query and thr Takom/RFM error. In the past had some awful Sherman kits, some were early kits and some were later kits by Dragon and were terible fit wise. A Tasca kit i made knocked all the others, italiari, tamiya, academy ,dragon for six. Meng and RFM was not around then,so i have no idea how this build up. Think i will go with the RFM and meng options and stick with Asuka /tasca
  12. Some years ago Tasca was meant to provide be the best Sherman kits around. Now after a break away from the hobby i see Tasca is now Asuka? I see that Meng and RFM produce Shermans. In general who is doing the best at the moment? Not talking about rivot counting here. Are these 2 new boys upto Tasca from 5+ years back? Thanks
