  1. Looks like a nice kit, which you are doing great justice to (or "to which you are doing great justice") You are making a good reference thread for it as well.
  2. Doc that looks GORGEOUS, lovely multi-shaded finish and decalling.
  3. There have been several of these recently, and all of them manage to have a different, unique but still right-looking interpretation of the Corsair's "look". Well done Chris.
  4. Try using some micromesh if you have some, it really helps on those edges. Using Maskol for camouflage is OK but you have to use very thin coats or it will crack and peel at the edges. Even in braille scale, i would advise using thin strips of masking tape for defining the edge of the camo - if you cut Tamiya tape into very thin strips it will easily conform to curved shapes and uneven surfaces without creasing. Then fill in the inner gap with Maskol, saves headaches like this one!
  5. There's something special about that one Tony, looks excellent. al
  6. You and everyone else John! Looks like you will finish in time - looking nice this far!
  7. Very nice work Rich, one to be proud of. Please don't drop it between now and the weekend!

    French Canadian !

I really like this Ian. Nice touches like the Fitter kill markings too! A great result, super scheme and it shouldn't have to be a what-if!
  9. Melchy, you've done it again! Oh, for a new-tool Century series..... then we could put away the scribers for good!
  10. Great finish Ian, looks like a perfect choice for the RCAF! The downright abuse is on the What-If board!
  11. Some very nice weathering effects on that one Mick. Hopefully you'll be a convert to man-scale yet! Al
  12. Nice build, a lot of detail in there! And BIG! What decal options are there?
  13. Funny why Italeri released this last year in the States and it's taking a long time to get it out in Europe! I got one from Squadron.com in August when the exchange rate was good, so it worked out around £38 inc postage. Interesting to see what it will be retailing for here. The kit is the same AMT/ERTL 1/72 mould, but i was very pleased to see that the product was fantastically crisp and clean moulding, with very good detail. I've heard the fit is appalling though, so we've got that to look forward to! Can i recommend Dennis Miller and Tony Landis' book "Valkyrie - Mach 3 Superbomber" (available in softcover for a very reasonable £13) for this build, probably the best book out there for the layman.
  14. Very, very good, quality finish. Looks crisp as, well, a crisp. Al
  15. Very nice painting and dry-brushing/shading/wash effects Ian
  16. That's a very effective, errr... effect!
  17. Here's the link to my bit of the massive B-1 builders thread - as you can see it's post 381!! LINK If you have an hour or so it's definitely worth trawling through the half-a-dozen builds shown in there. Some of it is simply amazing what you can do with the basic kit. The quality of the kit is average for a 1990-vintage product, fit of the maijor parts is distinctly average and will require a lot of putty and sanding. (Big scale Revell fans should be very used to that!) The intrusive ejector pins marks to be found all over the wheel well, bomb bay and compartment doors are a big irritation and require hours of repetitive sanding and filling. The main gear, while exceptionally detailed, is quite weak when completed, with no appreciable means of strengthening it. The wings are also independently articulated, feel a little flimsy when assembled, and some (by no means all) kits have bad warping of the wing parts. On the plus side, the shape and dimensions of the Revell Bone are exceptional, by far the best kit of the subject in any scale. A worthwhile investment would be the Eduard etch set, especially for the bomb bay and gear well details, crew access ladder and undercarriage detail. Good luck with your build(s), Al
  18. Hi Rob, I built one. I collected a lot of info and modified the kit quite a lot to make a modern Bone. It looked like THIS (CLICKY). There is a unofficial groupbuild build thread on ARC somewhere, i'll see if i can find it as it's the best reference for this kit you can find by miles. Al
  19. Obviously works! And by the fatuous and infantile tone of some of the posts on here, you'd think we were being forced to buy them. If you don't like it, carry on like the zillion years before we had an injection 1/32 Lightning. What difference does it make to you?
  20. I agree with the other comments, that's an excellent build and the perfect diorama to set it off. Great work Chris. Al
  21. That's VERY well done. The heavy weathering, paint fading and overall finish looks convincing. The base is very sympathetic to the overall look of the model, and the vegetation looks edible! Best of the BM year so far? Maybe!
