  1. Thanks very much, if opportunity allows I would still like to join in at some point.
  2. Definitely not, unfortunately! But thanks for the well wishes ☺️
  3. Very sorry to say this but I will be dropping out of this and all subsequent GBs for this year, I just don't have the time available anymore for a year-round GB schedule 😞 good luck with your builds πŸ‘

  7. Lovely model. Looks like a good kit as you say, really captures the curvy look and squat stance of the original πŸ‘
  8. Superb modelling, it's not an easy kit to build but you knocked it out of the park πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ Looks totally convincing with the multi-shaded finish, really well done πŸ‘
  9. Decided to do the main markings using Montex masks - I've had some great success with those in the past. Using MRP AMT-6 Black (kind of a warm black) and Insignia White. Made another mistake - the codes should be much tighter up against the cross on the fuselage sides Don't know why I checked the photos AFTER I sprayed the masks!!!?? Still, it gives the whole model a lift with those colours on. Painted the exposed engine and compartment. Also painted the open gun compartment, so that looks more like it now! Finished the decals, attached the wheel struts, nose and radar aerial mounts (unpainted so far). It's a tail-sitter at the moment but the main gear is drag-linked so the wheels sit further aft. Should be ok, and if it isn't, that's another mistake on my part! The Nazi symbol isn't included in the kit decals and I don't carry spares, so this will be a captured example. I'm sure the Nazi sign would have been scrubbed out as soon as paint was available! I used Xtracrylix RAF Dark Green. So, various mistakes notwithstanding, it's come out not too bad! I have the HpH 1/32 resin kit of this aircraft so this will be a good warm up and test bed of the paint and finishing techniques. Worth making the mistakes now so I get it right later! Still looks interesting - apparently it was a decent aircraft with very good power and acceleration, but thanks to its massive 'deer antler' radar antennae and bulky electronics, it couldn't hold a candle to the British Mosquito. Hopefully will finish this week, then back to the Arado 234 for a proper fight! Cheers, Alan
  10. Thanks again Craig This seems to have gone from 0-60 in 5 seconds, I think I've got my head around it now. Got some paint on - I stuck with the AK Air paints as i just wanted to try them out - they were okay but found it hard to get a good consistency fro the finer freehand spraying, so this is a bit more of a mess than I wanted. Also, the RLM 76 is a bit 'green' - although it loomks ok in contrast to the 75, it would look strange next to any other model in the same scheme. The edges of the blotches are not as fine as I would have hoped. I tried going over them again but it just didn't give the fine lines I wanted, even with the HP-CH 0.2mm airbrush. Moral of the story - stick to what you know! Should have used Xtracrylix or Colourcoats. Also, those wings do look warped, even though to my eye they look straight Meh, let's just get it done and move on with the Ar 234
  11. That's a really good improvisation for the canopy, excellent job! That's just a superb result from the old Frog kit, really well done
  12. Thanks for the review, looks like a major and much-needed update compared to the old Monogram. Better shake my piggy bank again...πŸ˜‚
  13. That's very nice work on the hull, you've captured that overpainted MS 12 camo look very well πŸ‘
  14. Fantastic model Ray πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ love the variant and the attractive colour scheme πŸ‘
  15. Thanks a lot @binbrook87 hope you get round to one of these eventually. I think it would be a proper masterpiece if you did John, will be looking forward to that build 😊
  16. Cheers John. It's smaller than I expected, seems to be quite a compact design. In 1/32 it's smaller than a P-38 Lightning.
  17. Very good idea to cover ejector pin marks instead of trying to fill and sand them when they're in an awkward place like that πŸ‘
  18. What a good subject, looks like you'll be busy. For what it's worth, I like the 201 Sqn red tail flash, but you'll have loads of choices from the excellent Double Ugly Vol 2 πŸ˜‰
  19. While I'm not convinced by the blue colour debate, can't argue against that looking really good in blue!
  20. Such a great scheme, that looks so attractive. Thank you to the 56FG for shooting at everything that flew, you gave us this lovely variation of the PR Mossie
  21. Okay, let battle commence! First job is to turn the rubbishy end-opening box into a top-loader: Seal the ends then cut three sides of the lid Into the cockpit: Cut, clean and tidy up the cockpit parts from the Halberd set. The fit to the kit parts is perfect. Then for some reason I went on to the stabilisers and rudder. The rudder needs a bit cut off the top to accommodate the fin extension. Finally for today I added the kit sidewalls to the Halberd fuselage and the tail halves, which again fit perfectly Hopefully this will be the pattern for the rest of the build. The only slight disappointment is the type represented and the decals are for the original Piper 1971 proposal, rather than the more interesting 1983-4 evaluation versions which failed to secure a USAF production contract at the time. I'm not sure how many differences there were - I can see some different blade antennae either side of the fin, plus a large pitot/instrumentation probe out of the left tip tank. If I can be bothered I might investigate that further. Seems to be a promising start, let's see how it turns out! Alan
  22. Started at last! I've moved the parts intro to the opening post for continuity if you want to go back and have a look πŸ˜‰
