Excellent job on this huge kit, cracking varnish coat aside, it still looks like you nailed the finish 💪 Really well done 👍

Mals Way goes civilan, never done a ship before.

Great job for your first ship! The presentation with the rusty base is very good too. Also, you've done a really good job on the rigging. Even after building many ships, that's the bit I really can't do very well! Alan- 10 replies

Cringe 😬 Until you can get these 'jokes' to land, you probably shouldn't criticise the guys on the Truman 🙄

For its age, this isn't a bad kit. You can use the crew figures (I called them Tutankhamen Sqn 😂) if you're willing to do a bit of surgery: Otherwise I found it went together well and certainly looked like a big, impressive Mossie when completed! Good luck with the build, glad you finally got your hands on it 😊👍

Yes, it all looks a bit mixed up! But at least there's a choice (unless you have $650 to spend on both 🤯)

Because it's from an F-4E? Look closely at the captions, there's a mix of B and E photos 🤔😉

Type VIIc U-boat schnorchel pipes plus queries
Alan P replied to bobsyouruncle's topic in Maritime WWII
The U-281 extended walkway 'bulge' does look deeper than others I've seen in photos, but that one's detailed enough to clearly see the drainage vents along the bottom edge. They appear to me to be D-shaped rather than the usual lozenge shape. Seems to be variable if that walkway is fitted at all, suggests a local adaptation upon refitting with the Turm IV AA platforms. This is the 'usual' appearance with quite a shallow incursion on the sides. This Flakboot doesn't appear to have any walkway fitted, but U-673 below did, looking more like the ones you pictured. I can only join you in confirming observations, rather than establishing anything from them! Alan -
I think this is an indicator of the stress/fatigue this crew is experiencing. They've been deployed since September 2024, been in both the Med and Red Sea, been attacked numerous times (ineffectively, but still no picnic being at GQ Condition One for long periods) and the air wing has been in constant offensive and defensive action for two months. Of course, all the media seems to care about is the cost of the jets, but there's clearly a human toll to this complex deployment which isn't being recognised.

Very nice build and painted details. I think this is one of the best kits available, and you've done it proud 👍

Looks quite simple, but for £40, who's bothered? The usual Trumpy waste of plastic with open compartments showing soft detail that nobody will use, but at that price there's plenty of room for aftermarket enhancements. To be honest it looks like the basis for a decent build, but I wouldn't put one next to a Takom kit!

Looks like good old Medium Sea Grey to me (2007 pic from Wikipedia)

Thanks very much @AeroNauticalEngineer, the bigger the canvas and all that...😉

As @Beard suggested 😉...

Beautifully done again, I agree with @Vlad, it's great to see a really smart, sharp build as neat as yours 👍
