  1. Amazing. I'm going to be pouring through that wip with interest. David
  2. Amazing work. Very kind of that fly to give a sense of scale. David
  3. Think the plan was to replace, but that got put on hold last year. More importantly, does anyone know the asking price for the type 23 and annual mooring costs in the Thames? Might be more cost effective than buying a home in London? David
  4. I think you've made that look a lot easier than it actually was! Very impressive work. David
  5. Another gorgeous offering, I for one would love to see the wip. David
  6. That pe work is something else, but really the entire build is beautifully done, an.excellent job. David
  7. Unbelievably amazing. I could spend all day staring at it. The newer camera really helps being out the detail too (if such a thing was possible) and makes it so much more vibrant. David
  8. According to scalemates iron shipwrights do a version. Otherwise you might be able to modify the Trumpy Belfast one? I see WEM have pe for both the Belfast (instructions on their website) and Sheffield (without instructions apparently) so the latter kit may help you get close. David
  9. I've seen a few photos with them off completely, but I assume that's from very early in her career? Would seem a shame to waste them though. Do they only go on specific turrets / sides / elevations? V odd that theres such a Gap there. David
  10. I think these look absolutely fine, a slather of paint will probably blend them into the turrets and make them virtually invisible. David
  11. If you wash them just right you might even get a good window effect with the underlying hull colour (and means you can just wipe the excess off the hull so you dont have to be too careful)? I.e. so the darker wash pools at the lower end so the tops of them are lighter. Either way, there's surely no surer way to kill modelling mojo than drilling out all those scuttles. Just thinking about it makes me want to lie in a dark room. David
  12. That case is quite gorgeous and thank you for that link. David
  13. As a result of that I did the same, £3.19, still a bargain. David
  14. That thing is going to be humongous! Looking good already. David
  15. That deck has come out looking very good indeed, and you've really made those details pop! Love the mug too. David
  16. Maybe I'm buying the wrong brand, or maybe my sausage fingers are mangling them beyond recognition, but I think your pompoms are quite amazing and hold up well against pe versions. Wish I could do that. Why so many tribals? And how's that bow coming? David
  17. I've found painting with a hairy stick means little to almost no vapours with them. Airbrushing as always is a different matter and I'm having to do so outside with a little one running around (which is one reason why my output is so low). David
  18. The instructions, as far as I could make out, suggest xf9 (hull red), 54 dark sea grey (horizontal surfaces / deck), 1 (black), 12 (props), x3 and x2 (red and white, heli rear rotors). The difficult one is the main vertical / hull colour, Mr Hobby 57 73 aircraft grey, which isn't given. After looking online I found it was this colour, which checks out against Jamie's research, I believe? I should've just used Jamie's website to search... So you could get yourself some Narn52 (or the modern rn set), which I highly recommend, having become a recent convert myself (and after having first spent a small fortune on another paint brand). Although be prepared to buy them again and again in future. Otherwise, comparing the epaint website against this colour conversion one I found that is was close to FS36473, which seems to equate to XF14 but to me appears too green, and xf54 which is too dark. There are other suggestions on the links above, but I'm struggling on my phone. I'd guess their standard light grey, but I doubt it'll be, or close to be, an exact match. I don't use tamiya paints nor am I a whiz with paints, so this is just my guesswork, but should give you some half decent websites to come close. My apologies if I'm way off. Also, good choice on ship, they are gorgeous. Being a london native, I'll be doing the westminster. And again, being a london native, I'll be doing her in 1/700 due to the space limitations in my shed of a house. David
  19. No idea sorry Beefy, but just to say those railings (and the rest of the pe) are looking most splendid! David
  20. I've always considered them the a-10s (the aptly nicknamed 'warthog') of the ship world: criminally under-rated, a tad slow, effective at what they did, but not the prettiest. Especially after bulges were added. Although the above photos must be from their 'good side' as she does look quite nice there. Still, got to agree with the above, where are the models of them? David
  21. Sorry, another 'ooh' moment from me here. How'd you get the props to look like that? Davdi
  22. Blimey. Just blimey. And same reaction to Iceman's photo. Sont know how you do it. How are you finding working with pe in 1/200 as opposed to the smaller version? David
  23. Yes, now this is really nice, I really like this. The weathering is spot on, and - as Mike has said - the shades of grey are exemplary in setting off those angles. Very tempting to get a one myself. David
  24. It's my personal opinion that she looked much more handsome in her earlier configuration, but that might be the 507C talking. I'm holding out for now hoping Flyhawk release an earlier version. David
