  1. Thank you for reminding us to this story with this nice model! In the War Museum in Athens, there is also model: http://www.modellmarine.de/images/albums/kriegsmuseum-athen-m2/kriegsmuseum-modelle138.jpg http://www.modellmarine.de/images/albums/kriegsmuseum-athen-m2/kriegsmuseum-modelle139.jpg http://www.modellmarine.de/index.php/fotogalerien/178-/5941-kriegsmuseum-in-athen-schiffsmodelle-teil-2 and also in the Maritime Museum in Piraeus: http://www.modellmarine.de/images/albums/hmm-piraeus2/hmm-piraeus232.jpg http://www.modellmarine.de/index.php/fotogalerien/178-/5751-hmm-piraerus-teil2
  2. Ok, I do not understand it really. I found another computer, on which I see also only the links. On my own computer and my phone, I see the photos directly here. I thought that they would be visible. Is this photo visible? I replaced the photos in the first post with ones from another server.
  3. Oh, is that a problem also for others? I can see the photos both on my computer and the phone, therefore I thought it would work. /edit: The Batch 3 are called in Conway's All the World's Fighting Ships 1947-1995 Manchester class, also e.g. here: https://www.hazegray.org/features/nato/uk/t42b3/
  4. Today, 30 years ago, on the 25th of February 1991, an Iraqi coastal battery attacked the Allied fleet with two Silkworm (HY-2) anti-ship missiles. One failed, the other was destroyed by HMS Gloucester using Sea Dart - the first interception of a anti-ship missile by a surface-to-air. Gloucester was a Type 42 Batch 3 (Manchester class) destroyer and served between 1985 and 2011. She was scrapped in 2015. I used the Dragon kit of York and adapted her to the 1991 fit of Gloucester. with HMS Cardiff (Batch 1) with all classes of RN Cold War guided missile destroyers: Glamorgan (County class), Bristol (Type 81), Cardiff (Sheffield class, Type 42 Batch 1) http://www.modellmarine.de/index.php/modelle/112-lars/6130-britischer-lenkwaffenzerstoerer-hms-gloucester-1-700-dragon-von-lars-scharff
  5. Today, 30 years ago, on the 25th of February 1991, an Iraqi coastal battery attacked the Allied fleet with two Silkworm (HY-2) anti-ship missiles. One failed, the other was destroyed by HMS Gloucester and its remains fall close to HMS London into the sea. London was the flagship of RN during Operation Granby (Second Gulf War). London was a Type 22 Batch frigate (Boxer class) and served between 1987 and 1999. 2003, she was sold to Romania and still is serving there as Regina Maria. As far as I know, there is no 1/700 kit of the Batch 2. Therefore I converted the Orange Hobby kit of Cornwall (Batch 3). Mainly, the superstructure behind the bridge has to be modified, plus the 4.5" have to replaced by four Exocet launchers plus 30 mm twins and 20 singles have to be added.. with HMS Brilliant (Batch 1) and HMS Chatham (Batch 3) I would like to acknowledge the support of bentwaters81tfw, Our Ned, and Chewbacca! http://www.modellmarine.de/index.php/modelle/112-lars/6150-fregatte-hms-london-1-700-umbau-orange-hobby-von-lars-scharff
  6. The macro mode distorts the proportions. Gloucester is shorter - but I calculate only a difference of around 10 mm in 1/700.
  7. Here some photos of my model of HMS London in progress: Changes of the superstructure (in comparison to the original kit parts behind) With HMS Gloucester: Current status: More details later...
  8. As far as I know, it was USS Missouri which bombarded the Silkworm batteries with her 16" guns. Gloucester could have used only her 4.5" gun. I am not sure, if Sea Dart could be used to attack targets on the coast. In theory yes, but probably not very efficient.
  9. @ Chewbacca: Thank you for the photo of Brave! Now, I find also on the London photos the Union Jack behind the bridge wings. I had not noticed it before.
  10. Hi Chewbacca, Thank you for the photo of London's Lynx! If you can find the photos, that would be helpful! The story is really funny - especially to imagine when you switched on the light on their bridge!
  11. Thank you! Greetings from a cold Copenhagen (-3 °C) to an even colder Chicago (-12 °C)!
  12. Your Victory is really impressive! Great to see that kit built! Can you comment on the way the guns are depicted? Especially in the lower decks?
  13. @ bentwaters81tfw: thank you for the story! I assume that they had machine guns, e.g. at the bridge wings. Here another photo of London made in 1988:
