I started plastic bashing aged about 7 or 8, and am trying to find the time to build some of the considerable stash kits (mostly in 1/72) I have acquired over the years, before my eyes fail me!  I have previously been interested in Cold War - Gulf War era, but having read The First and the Last by Galland have changed to WW2.  I have two plans in mind at the moment- firstly to build each of Galland's mounts from He-51 7 Hs-123 through Bf-109e & f's a brief stop at Fw-190 and thence to the Me-262.  I have the raw material kits, just the time eludes me at present.  The second plan is that I went to school in Earls Colne in Essex back in the 1970s and the school rugby pitches were right next door to the old WW2 airfield- home to the B26 Marauders of the 453rd BS in the 323rd BG.  I can remember that rather than scrummage practice we used to hop over the fence and go brass hunting- many a spent .50 casing to be found then, even 30 years on!  I have the Airfix kit (not too bad for a 'first generation' kit), and appropriate decals for VT D 'Truemans Folly' which I intend to complete in honour of those brave American airmen who froze on that Essex hillside before I did!
