  1. Gosh those are beautiful! Love them individually, but as a threesome they really are something! I'm looking forward to finished pics. (Hope the museum was great!)
  2. My next Minor Gustav will be Spain, a Special Hobby HA-1112. I'll be building it as part of the Baby Boomers GB:
  3. Oh yes, a couple of lovely Emils! I particularly liked the mottled camo. I built a Bf 109 for that GB too, only a Frederich, not a Gustav, and in 1/144, not 1/72.
  4. I forgot you used that kit for your crashed version. I used the Soviet markings when I built it.
  5. Yup, always love the Hurricanes. The only Mk IId I've built was the AZ kit, which isn't terrible, but obviously Arma's offerings are the new standard. I've bought a lot of the Arma kits (maybe almost 20 by now!), but not this one yet. I do wish it included Soviet markings (a good % [something like 25%, I think] of the IIds ended up with the VVS), but I get why at the moment a Polish company is avoiding that right now. Pretty cool though that @Troy Smith gets a shout out in the instructions, isn't it?! Well deserved. Obviously @AliGauld will do a bang up job on this, so watching excitedly!
  6. Certainly no need to apologize, Rob, and glad you find my "philosophy" resonating with yours. I hate finding out later I did something wrong. Would much rather know beforehand and decide to proceed inaccurately if that's what I decide to do. I know it's been awhile, have there been any more Bf 109s constructed by @Zephyr91?
  7. Here's my 1/72 Mongolian IL-2, built from the Tamiya kit with Airfix decals. I had begun her in late 2020, so nice to have her complete today! Here's the subject I was attempting to model:
  8. Oh yeah, this is now a scale I'm having fun with! Sign me up
  9. Peripheral parts are on now and I sprayed a matt coat. Working on the canopy now.
  10. Now I see you mention the starboard wing is off white, it looked blue to me. So, this is RAF camo, I just wasn't aware the Yugoslav metal winged wore this. Cool!
  11. Right on! Sorry I didn't see this sooner. I love Hurricanes in all their various markings, and this one is a beauty! I find the underside camo interesting, is that how this one was delivered or a Yugoslav repaint? I've done a little research into the RYAF Hurricanes but haven't come across this scheme before.
  12. No need to apologize, and indeed very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to explain! I'll see what I can find to stick on top of the tail!
  13. Lift Here did a 1/144 decal set that includes a few Hurricane options. It's a shame the Sweet kit screwed up on the Romanian markings given that there were the three fabric winged. The Belgian markings are nice though. The Italian Hurricane had basic markings, so probably could be easy enough to find a 1/144 decal sheet that would work.
  14. Could consider G-AFKX. Not RAF at that point, but a pretty cool fabric wing option!
  15. Oh, I'm not questioning your knowledge, Jason! I've learned a lot about IL-2s from your comments around here. Just trying to make sense of what I'm seeing in the photo.
  16. I am excited for this GB! There are several subjects I may want to build as part of it, but first up will be a representative from my "Minor Gustavs" project, a 1/72 HA-1112 from Special Hobby. Should be able to build this OOB. The Minor Gustavs project involves modelling BF 109Gs (or their derivative versions, such as Spain's HA-1112) in service with the "smaller" air forces (i.e., not Germany or Italy). Some of these are minor Axis (e.g., Hungary) and others are post-war or neutral operators (e.g., Switzerland). Here are the first six Minor Gustavs I've built, representatives from Romania, Finland, Slovakia, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, and Croatia. I think a nice blue HA-1112 will make a great addition!
  17. The big boys! The obnoxious 900 L, which you describe well as catching a pair of barrage balloons! Meanwhile, the cockpit is basically a model unto itself. I feel like you could spend a whole GB on just the Bf 110 cockpit! Here is just a small portion of the PE to use. Here are the three PE pieces onto the IP plastic.
  18. Masked to spray the red. That's a bit of a bloody mess, isn't it? 😆 Worked out, more or less. I put the decals on the tail, then flipped her over to get the UC and bombs on. I've been disappointed with how the UC and bomb fit has been--far more fiddly than I would have liked. Oh well, I think I got there, although the big boy bombs are imperfectly aligned. Just a bit more to do, but getting close
  19. I've decided I'm just going to make this one "FUN" and do whatever I want and nothing I don't. So, in that spirit I rummaged through my large number of spare Hurricane pieces and stuck a back-of-the-cockpit wall in, borrowed from an Airfix Mk I kit. And then I stuck the seat in. And that's the cockpit folks. 😎 Well, I may throw an IP in there still, we'll see.
