  1. I can see what you mean Paul when I looked at my Tamiya 1/48th one changed the outer gear doors round better be more careful next time but in my defence it was late, when I put them on the model RG
  2. Hi Paul, Thanks for the heads up but a bit perplexed by your comments regarding the u/c doors, I have just checked on the model and the inner doors fir perfecly into postion in the closed postion on the model,I will need to remove the outer ones to check so will do this later Rick
  3. Hi All, Here is my take on the new Airfix P-51 Built OOB Alclad Aluminium for the main NMF with selected panels picked out in a differing shade (steel) Red as suggested by Airfix is Humbrol 153. The main assembly was straight forward and fit is generally very good Slight problems encountered with the fitting of the canopy to it’s frame, Kit decals worked like a dream with Daco Strong setting solution And I managed to loose one of the completed drop tanks! As always comments and feedback welcome, Rick G
  4. Good work so far! Gloss first then decals, that way you will avoid any silvering (where air is trapped in the rough finish of the top coat of paint and shows through as silver bubbles) Finish off with a coat of the final varnish as required matt satin etc. Keep up the good work RG
  5. Hi Nick thanks Thanks for the feedback, I used Alclad,Aluminium for the overall colour and panels were picked out with steel. The Red is Humbrol 153 but I think it's alittle on the dark side RG
  6. Cool Well done Iike the weathering/faded paint
  7. Hmmmm seem to have stalled a bit with the P-51 but here is a taster of where it's up to, Thanks for the kind words everyone,
  8. Thanks for the compliment, I agree good value for money as well how many of these can you buy for the cost of a Haseagwa kit these days? RG
  9. Hi All, First post of built aircraft here so please take it easy on me! There is a tale to tell so to speak with these builds, Back in April I was taken ill at work and have been off sick since, Once well enough to sit at the workbench all thoughts turned to my large collection of 48th scale stuff,as most of these are project builds I was reluctant to start any due to my illness. I turned my attention to simple constructions that would not take too long to build and if I messed up did not really matter. So I bought the Airfix 1/72nd scale Gnat and enjoyed building it so much purchased more the others followed. The object of the excursion into 1/72nd was to fill my time during the day with something to do, I even ended up enjoying myself with these kits who’d a thought that! I still have on the bench the Hawk T2 and P-51 and hope to finish these before returning to work at the end of the month. All the kits are built totally out of the box using the kit decals and finished with Extracolor enamals. Thank you Airfix for reigniting my interest in 1/72nd and I look forward to more new releases in the future. Hope you enjoy the pics Rick G
