  1. Thanks Dave, Enjoyed SMW despite returning home with a kidney infection and I thought the bad back was from throwing those tables round! Spent far too much on some targets for a change Thanks for the comment Rick
  2. Hi fellow modellers This is my take on the recent Airfix Jet Provost. Built as soon as it arrived in just under a week, straight out of the box no additions what so ever and features in the December issue of SAM. Another great little kit form Airfix no issues what so ever during the build apart from some issues with the kit decals not wanting to curve that easily around the wing leading edges. Gunze light aircraft grey overall and lightly weathered. Thanks for looking Rick G
  3. Another great build of a great kit, I must do another one soon in Falklands markings, See you a week on Friday! Rick G
  4. Sorry no joy with the canopy but I did find the missing wheel from a 190 build years ago! Thanks for the comments Rick
  5. Well here s one just for fun, Airfix's little Vampire Trainer in 1/72nd scale. I needed a break from a big project build and the magazine reviews I have been doing lately and as this one sat at the top of the to do pile, so I dived in. A full Eduard etched cockpit replaces the instrument decals supplied in the kit and helps to add a little detail else where too. The seats are treated to belts and ejector firing handles to add visual interest. Painted with Alclad High Speed Silver and Gunze Insignia Yellow for the stripes. It would appear that the Alclad is a new formula and I was not too impressed with the results, as it seemed a little harder to achieve a the usual nice finish. Decals are from Xtradecal depicting a 43 Sqd machine during the 1950's Overall a fun little project that took just over a week to complete. Thanks for looking Rick G
  6. A masterpiece in miniature! Some good pointers too for the little details that are missing. RG
  7. Hi All, Well lets see how easy it is to post images now we have a swanky new look to the site. This is my take on the recent Great Wall Hobby T-33. A straight forward no fuss build and a nice bright paint scheme to depict a Navy TV2 from Guided Missile Group1 Painted with Gunze and aftermarket decals from Iliad Designs. Can't post too much as destined for a future issue of Scale Aircraft Modelling (SAM) Thanks for looking Rick G
  8. Welcome to the forum, I would try and scribe a small slit for them to sit in, thus adding a little more surface contact available for gluing. Try using a RB Productions scribing tool or Nano saw for this job. Hope this is of help. RG
  9. A true masterpiece, and a work of art. Captures the look of the real airframe well. Thanks for posting. RG
  10. Thanks for the comments, I think the stronger lighting for the photo's have hidden the subtle weathering to some degree, RG
  11. Hi All, Here is another Kinetic offering from me, this time round it is thier divine Etendard. Another bound for the pages of Scale Aircraft Modeller so only a few teaser shots as usual. Thanks for looking, Rick G
  12. A fantastic display of brilliant workmanship, and will compliment the other well, Thanks for posting such a wonderful model for us all to enjoy and I will look forward to seeing and reading about it in due course. Rick G
  13. Thanks for the comments Martin, Yes getting the wheels to all touch the ground is a problem for most of the Harrier kits I have built, A nice easy method for getting them to sit right, I find adding the outriggers to the wings first then adjusting the main gear height to just touch the ground. It is really easy with the Kinetic kits as you can just remove the locating pins on the main gear leg and slide it up or down to adjust its height.. Hope this helps Rick G
  14. Thanks for the comments, Sorry no the ladder came with the Skunkworks set and deck tug that I was also provided with for the review, good value though as you get two of everything, Take a look here https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/SKW48017 http://www.luckymodel.com/scale.aspx?item_no=SW-48017 Hope this helps Rick G
  15. Hi All, Its been a while since my last RFI (Airfix Meteor). Still been busy at the workbench just not been able to find the time to share the results with you. So to address the situation here is my take on the Kinetic Sea Harrier FRS1 in 1/48th. The build will feature in a future issue of Scale Aircraft Modelling (SAM) so just a few teaser shots as always. Another nice kit from Kinetic and an enjoyable build. Thanks for looking, Rick G.
  16. Fantastic pics but has anyone else noticed Brimstone and Meteor being carriedby the BAe Typhoon RG
  17. Found the same with mine, glad it was not just me, as I thought the same with regards the fuselage. Just finished the camo on mine and no other issues were found along the way. All in all another great kit from Kinetic. RG
  18. Great progress so far, you might want to check the fit of the forward section of the canopy as my example needed some work to obtain a good fit. Watching with interest RG
  19. Cracking build of a notoriously difficult kit, Thanks for posting RG
  20. One of the best examples of this kit I've seen to date! Thanks for posting RG

  22. Hi All, I must admit to being a bit slow in posting my new builds for this year, Any way here is number four for 2016. Yes its the new 1/48th scale Airfix Meteor depicting VZ494 of 501 Squadron Royal Auxiliary Air Force RAF Filton February 1957 Can't post too many photos but you can read an in-depth review build in the July Issue of Scale Aircraft Modelling. Thanks for looking Comments welcome as always Rick G.
  23. No help to you now at this stage of the build but I had the same problem with mine. Luckily for me I want the canopy open but I did rectify the height of the seat as it looked a little high. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234998833-trumpeter-172nd-scale-mig-29-a-9-12-more-photos-added/ RG
  24. I have built the Kinetic one and I was half way through the final stages of the build when it stalled on arrival of the AMK kit. AMK all the way with out doubt. If it builds up anything like their L-29 you wont be disappointed. RG
