  1. So sorry to hear it took so long for your book to arrive--but glad to hear you finally got it. I hope it proves to be useful to you.
  2. Thanks for the link Arnold. Megas Tsonos is obviously an extremely talented modeler!
  3. Thanks for pointing that out Dave. I had previously downloaded that article but missed the part about the control lines running in the fairing atop the hull. You have very well calibrated eyeballs!

    AKAN Paint

Can you tell us some more about the AKAN enamels? How do you thin them? How do they airbrush? Do they give good coverage? Are they OK to mask over? I would like to give them a try, but given the small size of the bottles and their expense, am reluctant to buy without learning more. Any additional info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Karl
  5. Does anyone have any additional info on the Short Calcutta model at SMW? It is a stunning model. Who is the abundantly talented creator of this masterpiece? One feature on the model I found particularly interesting is the slightly raised structure that runs along the spine of the fuselage. Not sure what its function was, perhaps a reinforced walkway, or a means of providing light to the cabin? I am hoping someday to scratch build a model of the Calcutta, so any additional information, details, etc would be most welcome. Thank you. Karl
  6. I too will vouch for XtraColour's ADC Gray. I used it on an F-106 and think it looks quite convincing.
  7. Great color scheme and markings! Your first attempt at a WWI model? Magnificent!
  8. Yes, it is now. It is now available on Amazon.com and Amazon UK. Copy paste Secrets of Expert Mold Making & Resin Casting in Amazon's search window and it will take you right to the listing. If 2 listings come up, go to the one with the green/blue cover.
  9. I too hope Kostas succeeds with the Salmson and brings out more 1/48 scale kits. WNW has all but killed the possibility of any new WWI acft kits in 1/48, so I applaud Kostas for his bravery in persisting against the 1/32 juggernaut. I was bitterly disappointed when Silverwings abandoned 1/48. I understand the beauty and popularity of 1/32, but that doesn't mean no one buys and builds 1/48 anymore. IMHO, 1/48 is a great compromise scale--not too big, and not too small for many subjects.
  10. That's one of the reasons I decided to update the book and bring it back to the public--it was very hard to find the first time around. I'm sure many people who would have been interested in it had no idea it existed. Thanks Dennis. I hope you find the book helpful.
  11. My poor suffering wallet! Javelin, MiG-25, F-101A/C Voodoo, and now the YF-23. Then there is the announced Banshee, the Tarangus Viggen--OUCH! Gotta find a place where I can sell my blood.
  12. Thanks for the additional info. Based on your pix, I never would have known you had a problem. Great work!
  13. Thanks for the feedback, Paul. I hope you find it useful. Karl
  14. Nice Staggerwing!! How did the kit go together? I hear the transparencies can be a bear.
  15. Stunning model! I love the crisp details and paint job.
  16. Cool "FrankenMeteor"--LOL!! Nice work on a challenging kit.
