  1. with regards to the pylon adaptor, you'll have to scratch build one I believe. ... at least you only need to make 1. Check out what this guy did for his build: F-4E
  2. done working on one intake and almost done the other, they've been angled down. I've painted the fuselage by the intake and placed on the insignia decal as the intake hides that area when assembled. Next step is working on the resin seat and canopy. The Hasegawa canopy has a seam down the middle that needs to be sanded away.
  3. .. gotta few more DS builds to do, then we do a Midway Website? anyway, almost ready for paint. modifying the fuel tanks at the moment.
  4. progress so far: still sanding away, nose is almost ready to glue on. I used the kit cockpit as the canopy will be closed and it will be harder to see things in there. panel lines around the pitot tubes have been filled as they don't exist on the real thing, Used a round tip of a Sidewinder for right rear antenna Once I rescribe some lines back on, the stabilizers can be glued on.. I've decided the markings will be the the squadron commander's plane of the 71st TFS, the first USAF squadron to deploy I believe. Thought about building their single F-15C that shot down a plane, but thought the more wavy camouflage pattern of the CO's plane looked more interesting. 82-0021 https://www.dstorm.eu/pictures/nose-arts/f-15/usa/82-0021_1.jpg
  5. look'n good, especially if new to all these things 👍 Interesting mottling technique, never tried doing that. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out. I'm one of those modelers that if it looks good to me, and I'm satisfied, good enough for me
  6. look'n good. Use the seat on the left of your picture. that is the SJU-8 ejection seat that replaced the seat on the right. Aires does make a very nice set of it.
  7. I see how those charts can be a bit confusing, even I had to think about it when looking at them imagine if you are looking at the chart, you are standing in front of the plane looking at it. That's how the chart's perspective is done. So, no, not pilots point of view. Also, where it says "no pylon". The pylon should be there, it just didn't have something hanging on it.
  8. The ALQ-119 ECM pod is typically on the pilot's right, and AIM-9 missiles on his left The MER was not used in Desert Storm
  9. Cool, I need to get one of these to finish my USS Kennedy Desert Storm collection. The price of the kits these days has kinda held me back a bit. soon though!
  10. That Master probe looks nice and sharp, I think I need to get some for my Jaguars
  11. This is gonna be one cool build Are the 1000lbs bombs injection molded or aftermarket? I used the kit bombs for my Jaguar build long ago, wasn't that satisfied with them. Is that Hasegawa pod an ALQ-119? ... if so, can that be easily converted to a AN/ALQ-101?
  12. I think I will build the Hasegawa F-15C for this DS GB haven't decided what markings yet. I've already built a jet from the 33rd TFW, so I will use one of these sheets or build a Saudi version. ... depending on how much I want to spend too. May have to replace the missiles rails, definitely need new exhausts. Am planning on building this as if it were taxiing for takeoff, canopy closed, flaps down, engine intakes tilted down (which will require some scratch building). Weapons load will be 4 Sparrows, 4 Sidewinders, 1 standard tank, and 2 fuel tanks converted to War Reserve Materiel fuel tanks. At this point, the fuselage has been glued together, and flaps have been cut off. Been building Desert Storm for a very long time, also have a Italeri Tornado on the go. and plan on fixing up my older model builds. My Qatari Mirage F1 is undergoing a bit of a refit.
  13. .. to continue on that thought, if one wants to build an Air Force Reserve or OA-10A, the Hobby Boss kit needs to backdated further. The radar warning receivers on the tail and nose would need to be removed with a replacement built on the nose. The Monogram kit represents such a version. There are some other minor changes too. Though, your build Dave and you can do whatever you want, assembly is looking great. That gun assembly looks nice! Is the gun all metal shape for you? or do you need to do any bending like photo-etch? I need to get another A-10 kit someday.
  14. I've only seen one pic of a 3rd TFW deployed for Desert Storm showing the ALQ-131. The pod is light grey, not gunship grey or OD green. Will you be putting a Pave Tack pod on with GBU-10, or the war-time load of cluster bombs?
  15. here's a pic of a F-111F with GBU-12, I've seen a better version of this pic where you can make out the bomb more easily. Also seen front view pics of F-111F with 4 GBU-12 On the bomb cart behind the plane is more GBU-12s to be loaded
  16. As Chris said, GBU-12s were loaded in a singular fashion, directly to the pylon. A F-111F would be loaded with 4 on a tank-plinking sortie. If you decide to use the BRU with unguided bombs, all stations on the BRU would have a bomb.
  17. What squadron will your A-10 be? The 511th TFS from Europe used the ALQ-131 pod, whereas the other squadrons used the ALQ-119
  18. In more than one squadron, the mission markings were applied after Desert Storm combat operations. I believe that is the case with the two Marine A-6E squadrons. In that sense, it can potentially be from their post ware deployment, but it's more likely a typo The squadron did transition to the F/A-18D in Sept. 1992.
  19. nothing wrong with Chopper Popper I may build that one some day, but with it looking how it did during the war.
  20. Looks like that decal sheet is a copy of the Tamiya kit decal sheet. 715 of the 353rd TFS is also a DS jet; it was the squadron CO's plane, though decal sheet it lacks the specific post war scoreboard markings, and the "Panther 1" nose art.
  21. The 58th TFS did receive AIM-120 missiles towards the end of the war, but none were fired in combat. There are various pics out there with this loadout. They mainly carried AIM-7 and AIM-9M missiles. The AIM-9X was quite some time after Desert Storm.
  22. Thanks for sharing the story. I believe I read somewhere that Schwarzkopf used Delta for his protective detail?
  23. what squadron are you planning on representing? I might have some left over decals from my DS builds.
