  2. Hi everyone. It’s been a little while, but I lead a busy life. At least you know I won’t bombard you with posts. An update. There was a part missing. Part 41, the landing gear axle. A clever friend of mine MADE a spare after Revell told me they had no spares for a 1965 kit. Also, being so old I imagine, the decals cracked. Some new ones were sourced from Latvia! They worked a treat!
  3. That's amazing. Great to know there is an updated version. Thank you!
  4. Thanks everyone for your informed replies. I shall battle on. The scale is not mentioned on the box, nor the instructions sheet. All I can tell you is the length, which is stated at over 8” and the wingspan at over 12”.
  5. Thank you Jon. Very kind! What’s next? Funny you should ask. Would you believe, a 1965 kit of a Sopwith Camel. (I’ve taken the liberty of posting in the aircraft work in progress thread as I’ve hit a snag. Following that, it’s the Apollo Lunar Module. Talk about intricate. I’m certainly not doing things by halves!
  6. Hi everyone. My 4th model is quite a challenge. I acquired a 1965 model and have been following the instructions very closely. As you’ll see from the photo, they are very detailed and in a particular order. But have I made a schoolboy error? After doing the thread and joining together the main parts of the body, it then says attach decal. The decal for this part (the stripes) is a ‘wraparound’. But it has to go where one of the threads is.
  7. Well, it’s taken a time as I’ve been quite busy. But, I think I’m complete. Don’t look too closely and it may be passable.
  8. I’m very new, Beefy. After two aircraft this is my third model. I have a title can primer, but the screen wash tip is one I’ve not heard before. Know what you mean about the number of coats. I’ve quickly learned that modelling is a thing of patience.
  9. Troy- that looks amazing ! thanks Don. I only feel 25!
  10. I will. Determined to. Thanks for the encouragement.
  11. UPDATE. Complete fail with trying to thin that white paint, Jon. Time to shout at me. I’ve decided (haven’t actually done it yet) to paint those narrow parts the same colour as the sails. Want to shoot me now? I can’t imagine any historical expert will visit my modelling room so I may get away with it. Have a rare spare hour this morning so have primed the sails. All part of the learning journey !
  12. Thank you DN and you too, Eric. Rolos your choice for good concentration, are they? Yes, the lunar module is the 1/72.
  13. Both Jon. I shall try some primer and see if that works. I’ll practise on the frame of the sprue to see if it works. My weekdays are pretty full with work etc but will get to it when I can so may not report back with progress immediately. Thank you Jon!
  14. Thanks Black Knight. Will certainly pay attention to that. BTW - The white paint (number 22) - the quality of mine is awful. No amount of stirring improves it.
  15. I shall have a look at airbrushes at a later date but will persevere with standard brushes in these early days, Jon. I’m painting parts on the sprue as I figured it would be easier than when assembled and looking at other posts that’s what others have done with this model. I’m being careful not to get paint onto the parts where adhesive will be applied.
