Hi, sorry to hear of your computer issues. Since your current computer is not that old and won't be able to run Windows 11 I think your least expensive course of action would be to take it to a computer shop. Have them back up any files, photos, etc. you want to save and have them install some form of Linux on it. Ubuntu Linux and others are available for free so you should only have to pay for the time it takes them to back your stuff up, install Linux and re-add your files to your new operating system. Have them give you a quick lesson on how to browse the web, set up your email, etc. Yes, there's a learning curve involved but I ditched Windows years ago and don't regret it at all. Good luck!

Oh, and yes I agree that American "chocolate" is horrible...

AHH, Necco wafers... Too bad they are gone, I grew up on the east coast back in the 60's and 70's and remember these well, along with the "Sweethearts" heart-shaped candies with little sayings printed on them for Valentines Day, I think those are gone too. Oh, and original salt-water taffy... Yep, too bad. Another icon of the days gone by before corporate greed started meaning more than craftsmanship and originality. Sad...

To rivet count, or not to rivet count, that is the question.

Like my signature says, I pre-date aftermarket. In my day there was no such thing as an aftermarket for model kits. You bought a kit and picked whatever color was available on the shelf that was "green" or "brown" or "grey" and a tube of glue. You twisted the parts free (yes!) and stuck them together, maybe slapped some paint on with a brush, stuck on the supplied decals and flew it around the room. Mostly what I see now is buy a kit, buy photo-etch sets, buy resin replacements for everything, buy a specific paint set, buy a decal set, buy a masking set, etc, etc. Seriously? whatever floats your boat.... Personally, I think a kit that's built well and with a passion out of the box beats one that's had more money thrown at it hands down Here's some sound advice: "to each his own, but to thine own self be true" -

Such nice work, especially considering the tiny size of it! -
Hello, Just thought I'd provide a link to a site with a free brush painting resource to help new modelers, or people like me getting back into the hobby after a long break. https://www.modelairplanebuilding.com/brush-paint-ebook.html Hope this helps, they also have an ebook for airbrushing (not free though) p.s. admins please feel free to delete this if I've violated any taboos, certainly not my intention, just trying to be helpful is all

Very nice job, I like the mottled green effect. Also nice smooth finish on the base coat! -
Great job! I'm of the belief that as long as you find your hobby enjoyable that's what really matters. Can't wait to see your next one!

Yes they did!

I have the same kit and was planning on cutting open the side of the hanger to show the folded aircraft inside the hanger (like the limited edition kit) -
Thanks everyone!. I mostly do WW2 airplanes but also armor and sci-fi

Hi Everyone! Just wanted to pop in and say hello from a new member. I'm impressed with the site, it's very easy to navigate and the people here seem very polite and helpful. I modeled back in the late 1970's and haven't built a kit since about 1980 something I guess, which is strange as I have quite a stash of kits, never had the time I guess. Anyhow, I tried the whole "serious modeler" thing with getting an airbrush and such but just couldn't seem to master it, and found out I really didn't want to use the silly thing anyway. Sitting in front of the TV (telly to you folks) and modeling like I did when I was younger was what I was looking for. Since finding a good video on brush painting, and reading up on the brush painting posts here, I've been excited to get back into building again and enjoying some relaxing modeling. Sorry to ramble, I'm practicing for retirement I guess. Cheers!
